  • Of course I'm sad for all the girls who have had to leave us, but SNLT and Steph hit me really hard, because I felt like I knew them. They were further along than I am. How common is miscarriage at this stage? I thought it was supposed to drop drastically after 12 weeks. I think the back to back tragedies over the last week has really hit our group hard. While we mourn for them, we also wonder "why?" and "what are the chances it will happen again?"

The chance of miscarriage drops to like two percent or something. For me the risk of a second or third trimester is 5% since I had a previous second trimester loss

Most of my reading put it at something like less than 1% overall; slightly higher for those of who are AMA.

It's pretty low, regardless -- but horrible if you're in the unlucky minority.

  • And Steph and SNLT, great to hear from you, know that we have all been thinking about you this week. You will always be a part of June14 whether active here or not.

  • I've been feeling less movement the last day or two. I was a bit worried but then LO gave me a good punch. I wish I could have that piece of mind constantly that things are okay, but I had a loss in August which keeps me paranoid.

If you are worried about anything don't hesitate to call your OB, they aren't just there for you druring appointment times. I hope everyones worries are alleviated soon.

  • My coworkers swears that a baby will move if you put your cell phone on your belly on vibrate/ring and call it. I've never tried it.

I totally understand the paranoia.  My first was chill on the inside and gave me anxiety the whole pregnancy.  I used to drink soda and do kick counts all the time.  She came out crazy and full of energy :-).  DS was the opposite- soccer player on the inside, most chill baby outside.

I still get anxious and paranoid with the twins.  Since there are two in there, I am almost always feeling something, but I often don't know which one it is or if both are moving every day.  They are still pretty close together and change positions a lot.  Lately I have been feeling A a lot (I think)…as it turns out, B is on her side kicking A instead of me.  But I still worry about them separately and keep being afraid I will just lose one twin and not know it because the other is being active.  I know it is unfounded fear in a lot of cases, but FTM or not, you are a momma and you love your baby(s).  This is that love and protectiveness kicking in.

  • I'm 22.2 wks don't feel consistent movement and I also freak out but my OB said its normal. But like you, with all the sad news of course I'm still worried. I have my Doppler but have not used it yet bc my little man doesn't like it too much. They supposedly sleep about 19 hrs a day...so trying not to worry :-)
