S/O SS cards vent

We just found out DS's SS card was stolen at the post office. They delivered us half of the original envelope in a new envelope for damaged mail because someone ripped his card right off. I am LIVID!!. We filed a police report and I'm going to SSA tomorrow to see if they can give him a new #. I don't even know if that's something they do. Does anyone have any experience with this??

    I don't have any experience but just wanted to say sorry you have to deal with that! People can really be shitty.  :(

    I know when my number was suspected stolen I had to prove it and then they would assign me a new one. That was quite a while ago though.

    That really sucks! People suck sometimes! Hopefully you can get a new number. If not I would invest in credit monitoring for him. People like to steal babies numbers because you usually don't notice they have a credit history until they're in their late teens. Then you find out they have a mortgage in foreclosure, maxed out credit cards, and a world of debt! GOOD LUCK!
