Welcome to the August ‘14 PgAL Check-In!
This is a weekly check-in for women who are due in the month of August (or thereabouts) and have suffered a previous pregnancy loss. Being pregnant after a loss can produce a mix of emotions. This check-in is intended to provide support while we make our way through each trimester.
If your EDD has changed, please let me know. I try to pay attention to the board and get the latest update, but apologies if I missed out and I'm posting outdated info.

Re: [1/27] Aug '14 PGAL Weekly Check-In @)-->-----
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): I'm still feeling pretty good, despite being tired all the time. There has definitely been some stretching and growing going on in my uterus! Emotionally, I'm a little anxious about the NT scan coming up on Friday, but I'm so excited to finally see our baby!
Upcoming appointments or milestones: NT scan on Friday.
What's been going down this past week: After doing the genetic testing, I am not a carrier for cystic fibrosis so that was a relief to hear. We also told or close circle of friends about the baby this past weekend. It was nice to see how excited they all are for us :-)
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? We've purchased our recliner/glider, but that's about it so far. We have made a list of all the things we need to buy before baby arrives.

It's a BOY!
Baby Blog
How are you feeling? Pretty good on both emotionally/physically. I get tired easily, but that will be the way for the rest of the pregnancy.
Upcoming appointments: 2/7
What's been going down this week? We announced on FB. Our 22 month old likes "Blue's Clues". So our announcement was him in his Blue costume playing clues that were baby related. Some people caught on, but then later in the week I posted a picture of my bump and then people really caught on! It was fun, and people are so excited for us.
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? Nope. Since this is our second, there isn't much we need. I have a few things that I want to get, but probably will get them later on in the pregnancy.
Me: 06/12 Dx w/ IR PCOS (rx 2000 metformin) DH: SA all clear; looking good
06/12-10/12- Clomid/Femara + trigger + TI + P4 = 3 BFNs, hysteroscopy, polypectomy, D&C
11/12 - 7.5 mg Femara + trigger + IUI + P4 = BFN
12/12 - Surprise BFP ectopic (MTX 01/13)
04/13 - Off the Bench! 7.5 mg Femara + trigger + IUI #2 + estradiol + P4 = BFN
05/13 Clear HSG-5 mg Femara + Menopur + trigger + IUI #3 + P4 = BFP ectopic (MTX 07/03 & 07/11)
07/23 emergency lap to remove ectopic mass and left tube
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Still really tired and I've started this fun thing where I start dry-heaving and gagging for no reason. (ESPECIALLY around raw meat!) Face is broken out like crazy. Yikes!
Upcoming appointments or milestones: 12 weeks tomorrow! Almost out of scary town for me!
What's been going down this past week: Starting to wean myself off the progesterone and I'm terrified of doing it. Went to a dollar book sale this weekend and stocked up on like 50 some books for the nursery!
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? I watch Craig's list and online garage sales for good deals but I'm to scared to really dive in and get excited until we find out the sex later/ hear the heartbeat again on Feb 6th.
How many weeks/ what fruit are you: pfft. Still can't figure this out
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Honestly freaking out. I have been trying to think about being pregnant as little as possible. Physically I don't feel pregnant which adds to the anxiety a bit.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: I have my first official appointment with my obgyn on Wednesday, as the first two were emergency scans. Looking forward to his thoughts on the chance of things progressing and hopefully dh seeing our little one for the first time!
I also have an appt scheduled with an RE on the Feb 5 which I've waited 6 months for. I just couldn't cancel it. I also have some tubal issues that I would need to deal with after pregnancy anyway so I decided to keep it.
What's been going down this past week: It's been very quiet. A couple more episodes of spotting which I managed to not freak out over.
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? Ha! Not a chance. Although dh told me the other day we should think about getting the nursery ready soon before work gets busy. I flat out told him he was crazy. But agreed if the u/s goes well, we could get a glider or something. I feel like if I make it through this appointment I might be able to get excited about a baby.
Nope! I have my list of things I need to get and are starting to clear out the baby's room but have been so busy with work and life we haven't done anything yet.
And @mdarmetko very cool we are due date buddies!
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally):
Physically, I am exhausted all the time but that could be chasing a toddler
Upcoming appointments or milestones:
NT scan on 2/4, 12 week appt 2/6
What's been going down this past week:
Nothing pregnancy related....our furnace stopped heating at some point last night so we woke up and it was 60 in our house and negative two outside. Thankfully it was just repaired!
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? Not yet...my PGAL brain won't let me do anything until 12 weeks. I have started working with DS on going down the stairs on his bottom, hoping he catches on before I am huge!
@mdarmetko - thank you for doing this, it is so thoughtful of you to make this check-in so personalized!!!
@kountingsheep Hope Feb 1st is alright for you!
@MamaTugboat Congrats on your scan - I hope for a good one just like yours!!
first son stillborn 7/20/13 at 39 weeks due to Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy
It's a girl! Baby Anna was born August 3, 2014!
How many weeks/ what fruit are you: 12w5d
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): good! Still battling fatigue and nausea, but it's definitely easier to take now.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: I had my NT scan on Friday and it went great. Baby was super active and fun to watch. I had my 13 week appt at my OB office today and got a bonus u/s after they had trouble finding the hb with the Doppler.
What's been going down this past week: just the scan!
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? No way. We are waiting to find out the sex before trying to figure out rooms and furniture (whether we keep DD in her current room or move her to the guest room depends on that).
2. Feeling- getting over a stomach bug so not so hot. Nauseous, tired and crazy sore boobs!
3. Upcoming appts- since I'm 37, elected to have the maternit21 test done. We've in for that today. Should get results in 10 days- yikes! 12 week appt next Friday- super excited!
4. Past week- just counting the days till my next appt on the 7th. Trying to be positive. It was at my 12 week appt in April the doc discovered my missed miscarriage.
Baby prep- no but I can't wait. If appt next week yields good news then I'm going to get into full swing!
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): I'm doing okay. Sunday night I caught a horrible stomach bug and was cramping/diarrhea/vomiting for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I'm slowly getting over it but my stomach is still iffy. Emotionally I'm trying to remain positive but still can't decide when to tell people. Only immediate family and really close friends know at the moment. Since my previous miscarriage was a missed mc I'm trying to convince myself that it'll be okay to tell people at 13+3 even though I won't hear the heartbeat again until 13+6.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Feb 18th first appointment with our midwife.
What's been going down this past week: we heard the heartbeat aour appointment last Tuesday. He couldn't find it with the doppler but did a quick abdominal ultrasound and found it right away beating at 162.
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? I've bought a few maternity shirts and a nursing bra. I've also started my cloth diaper stash when I see things on craigslist or on sale online. They are so cute. My sister just had twins a year ago so she is kindly giving us one of everything she has. I don't think we will have to buy much. Maybe a stroller to go with her infant seat.
BFP #1 8/8/13, EDD 4/16/14
MMC discovered on 9/18/13 @ 10w, baby measuring 9w. D&C on 9/26/13
BFP #2 12/7/13, EDD 8/12/13. It's a girl!
Caroline Marie born 8/20/14. 8lbs 11oz, 21 inches and perfect!
Me: 06/12 Dx w/ IR PCOS (rx 2000 metformin) DH: SA all clear; looking good
06/12-10/12- Clomid/Femara + trigger + TI + P4 = 3 BFNs, hysteroscopy, polypectomy, D&C
11/12 - 7.5 mg Femara + trigger + IUI + P4 = BFN
12/12 - Surprise BFP ectopic (MTX 01/13)
04/13 - Off the Bench! 7.5 mg Femara + trigger + IUI #2 + estradiol + P4 = BFN
05/13 Clear HSG-5 mg Femara + Menopur + trigger + IUI #3 + P4 = BFP ectopic (MTX 07/03 & 07/11)
07/23 emergency lap to remove ectopic mass and left tube
4 rounds of clomid, 2 with IUI = BFN
Wow! There are a lot in this thread. I guess I'm extra emotional. It's making me tear up.
This is my first time joining you.
EDD: 8/15/14
11w4d, a lovely little lime
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Physically ok other than overall fatigue and nausea that seems to be signaling low blood sugar/time to eat. Emotionally pretty anxious, for me anyway. Usually I'm pretty chill but I'm doing battle with all the worst-case scenarios swirling around my head.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Next appt & NT scan (with new OB!) is scheduled for 2/10, which will be 13w3d. REALLY looking forward to it.
What's been going down this past week: Internal debates. We were planning to tell my folks when we see them the weekend of 2/8-9, but after dealing with insurance red tape all month, could only get an appt for the 10th. The announcement may now depend on my getting my hands on a Doppler, just to be sure. If all goes well, we're telling close friends on V Day.
GTKY: Have you started any baby prepping yet? Nope, waiting to clear the first tri first!
BFP#1 10/11/11 - DD born 6/6/12;
BFP#2 7/6/13 - Due 3/8/13, MMC at 12w D&C on 8/31/13;
How are you feeling? A lot better, still tired but not sick anymore.
Upcoming Appts/Milestones: just had NT scan on Monday and everything looked good.
What's been going down this week? We just tossed our Christmas tree and made a huge mess of Pine needles in the living room.
Have you started prepping for the baby? Not really I know we have to buy a new car seat because our old one expired but I haven't really thought about it.
I had my bloodwork for the panorama test that day and I'm impatiently awaiting those results. I'll also be having an ultrasound on the 3rd to measure the nuchal fold. I'm looking forward to getting through the next few weeks and out if first tri!!
I haven't done any baby prepping yet.
m/c 6/10
Things are moving along. NT scan, Mat21 - all was well. Mat21 showed at lesat one boy. NT scan lady said its b/g - but i am not taking that one to heart since its so early.
We announced to family and friends this week. That was fun.
As for prepping. My husband is tall - so we went to buybuybaby to test how two infant car sears will work in our car. Not gonna fit! Good thing is we live in NYC and drive maybe every other wknd - so it will be a pain until our lease is up - but husband will have to sit passenger and be scrunched. Not long trips for us in the car - we'd have to borrow one from family in that case.
