Shoes in cars?

Okay, this is probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway.

DS just started walking recently, so when we go out (where I anticipate he may walk a little), I'll put his shoes on and he'll wear his shoes in the car seat.  Having said that, his shoes are pretty clean b/c he almost never walks outdoors), so that doesn't bother me...yet.

But once he really starts walking/running/stomping in mud, I can't imagine leaving his shoes on while sitting in the car seat?  Or do you?

Re: Shoes in cars?

  • I put Wesley's shoes on in the morning before we leave for daycare and they come off once we get home, I leave him in his shoes in the car seat, yes he is walking all over but I don't let him walk around outside if it is snowing or muddy as I don't want him to fall.  He did step in a cracker at daycare so I took his shoe off before putting him in the car so I could bump all the crumbs off but that was it.  I figure by the time he is getting all dirty and muddy he will be forward facing and it shouldn't be a huge problem getting on my seats.

  • Ashley never wears her shoes in the car cause she can pull all of them off along with her socks. I have to wait until we get somewhere to put them on or if we are coming home they come off as soon as I put her in the carseat.
  • LEave them on - I wouldn't even think about taking them off.  Though dirt doesn't bother me.  We do wash shoes if we go to see the chickens at Nana's house.  DS will sometimes take is own shoes off but I think that is more for his entertainment then worry about dirty shoes on the seat.

yeah i think this is a no brainer. dirty shoes come off, clean ones stay on.

although she likes to take her shoes off herself in the car so chances are by the time we've reached our destination she doesn't have shoes on either way.

  • I'm so jealous of toddlers who can walk outside!!!

We have 4 feet of snow and he cries when I put his boots on.  I can't remember the last time he walked outside.  It has been months and months....
