Wednesday, January 29-
So I am on Cycle Day 39. My doctor gave me a prescription for Provera a few days ago after confirming that I did not ovulate last cycle and that I was not pregnant. The Provera is 10mgs once day. I took the first one last night and about 15 minutes later I noticed I had EWCM went I went the restroom...I also started having ovarian twinges on one side, light cramps, and backache over the course of the evening. I took an OPK and low and behold it was WAYYYYY positive. So then I took a digital OPK and it was positive. Today, I woke up with a headache (as I normally do when O is occuring) and I feel full (as I normally do when O is occuring). Took another OPK and bam! still positives!!!
My doctors office is not open today and there is not a nurse's line for questions. So I don't know what to do....Do I take another Provera tablet today as she prescribed?? If I take it will it prevent O from actually happening? We BD'd this morning in case O does in fact occur today. But now I am at a loss on what to do?? Help!!! Anyone else ever have anything like this happen!?
Thursday, January 30-
I used 2 different OPKs last night and they were both positive. I used 2 kinds again this morning and they were negative. Also, I did not take Day 2 of Provera last night since I hadnt spoken with the doctor. I talked to my doctor first thing this morning, and she said obviously to not take the Provera. I am gonna have b/w done to confirm that I did ovulate and then we will wait out my luteal phase for either Aunt Flo or +HPT. If b/w says I didn't ovulate then I will proceed with Provera at that time.
Re: Help! Provera and Positive OPKs!
I agree with @Slappaclicious, a 39 day cycle is pretty early for Provera. I just came off Provera a few weeks ago after a 70+ day cycle, and it's meant to raise your progesterone enough that when you go off it it created a withdrawal bleed. I don't see how it could possibly induce or cause ovulation. Plus, a positive OPK doesn't mean you will ovulate for certain even if you stop the Provera.
There has to be someone covering your doctor's office, whether it be you Dr on one on call. I would try to get ahold of them and askl if you should continue. Good Luck!
