Double Stroller advice

Here is my dilemna. I have a 2 yr old DD and a 5 week old DD. I did the trade in at BBR on the stroller i hated in hopes if getting the one i want. The one i want is by mamas and papas but doesnt convert to double stroller (2nd seat). My question is how important is 2nd seat for two year old. Stroller will mostly be used for walks on track and shopping. We take one family trip and i shop then mostly on resort. So do i need second seat or will one of those glider boards. TIA

Re: Double Stroller advice

  • I would say it depends on your 2 yr old. I absolutely needed a seat for my 22 month old. Not many choices out there :(

I absolutely need to have a seat for my 2 year old if I want to devote any attention to what I'm trying to shop for. If he's seated he can have a snack, play on my phone etc, in addition to keeping him contained.
Honestly you're going to need a 2nd seat for some time. We went to the zoo in the fall and by the end of the day my 4, almost 5 year old asking to ride because his legs got tired.

Eta: look into the uppa baby vista. So many options, it has worked very well for us over the years.

I agree with this. DS1 will be 2 in a few weeks and I bought the Chicco Cortina Together so we'd have 2 seats. I feel like he's too young to be expected to stay on the glider board. Plus, depending on where we are and what we're doing, he still falls asleep in the stroller sometimes.

  • My DD is 3 this week and we still felt we needed a double stroller -- she needs to be contained, and also still gets tired if we need to walk a lot. We got the Maclaren Twin Techno...really lightweight umbrella style, but sturdy with some good features. Haven't used it yet, but looking forward to it!

  • I got my double stroller for Christmas and LOVE it. My 2.5 year old loves it, and well, my 7 week old has no opinion yet:) I have the Baby Jogger City Select, and think it was worth every penny. When my toddler outgrows the stroller in a year or two, the stroller converts back to a single stroller. It pushes easily, it has an extendable handle so tall people like me don't have to bend over to push the stroller, and it folds/unfolds easily and quickly. I highly recommend it! Also, I bought it on Amazon at the Amazon warehouse deals section.

  • I have the same dilemma (newborn and 3 yr old).  There is a lot of discussion of this topic in various threads on Nurseries and Baby Gear.  I'm leaning toward purchasing a City Mini Double, though I have heard that, if you add the adapter for an infant carrier, it ruins the stroller's popular easy-fold feature.
  • I definitely needed a double stroller when I had 2u2. I tried to get by w a sit and stand but ds1 was just too young.
  • I feel like I need the double stroller more to keep my 2 year old strapped in than for my newborn. If you have an amazingly well behaved 2 year old that would never run off or have meltdowns in the middle of the store I am extremely envious and guess you don't need a double stroller. That being said we just got the city mini double stroller and I love it!
