We did one for DD, but we are not planning on announcing for this one. I am sure that people will figure it out once I start showing in pics, but we kind of want this one to be a little more private and just for us.
Ds gets his 2 year pics next week and we will do something with that and post it. We r military so a lot of distant family and friends are just everywhere. So it's just easiest lol
I'm torn. This will be our first, but some of the FB announcements I've seen are so gag worthy to me I can't stomach it lol. The one that most recently got to me was the couple was standing in a construction zone with hard hats on and one of those "bump ahead" signs.
(I don't mean to offend anyone doing something like this. Just not my style
My friend suggested coming up with something really sarcastic that almost makes fun of all those announcements. That's more my style.
We never said a word on FB until LO was born last time around and plan to do the same this time. The people who need to know will know... I don't need a bunch of "feedback" from the fringe people.
I have a huge family so it's the easiest way for me to tell everyone at the same time I totally get not wanting to make a big Facebook announcement though, to each her own!
I'll probably just put up an u/s pic or of me wearing the shirt below as a profile once we're in 2nd tri. My friends & family are spread out pretty far, there's no way we could call everyone & I'm definitely not mailing out something. But I'm not planning on anything fancy.
I didn't for my last baby and won't for this one. If it's important for you to know I'm pregnant, I'll tell you personally! I'm weird about social media though...i don't even really post pictures of my kid.
ETA, most of my friends and family are local though, so that makes a difference I guess!
I'm torn on this. I use fb a bunch and it helps me keep in touch with wide spread friends and family. If we decide to do something it will be into the second trimester. Does anyone do printed and mailed pregnancy announcements? We won't be having a shower (family traditions/superstitions) and I know sometimes shower invites are how all the older aunts and people like that find out about a pregnancy.
We will tell people on fb sometime in second tri, but not do anything fancy. I also get the gag worthy references to some of the pics and don't want to do something over the top. However, I do think it's kind of weird and awkward when there are subliminal references to pregnancy then a shower pic and you are like "Oh! uh, congrats?"
However, if it's a boy, we are DEFINITELY posting this.
Yes, we are going to do a FB announcement. We have a lot of extended family all throughout the country and I am 1) not going to call them all personally but 2) they should know we're having a baby. I do not think it would be nice for us to show up at Family Christmas (extended family gathering) with a baby in hand. People would feel bad they didn't know.
We'll post the photo that we are going to have taken, but we won't be announcing publicly until the beginning of March after our ultrasound on Feb 26th. We'll be 10+ weeks when we announce at least, but we will announce by 13 weeks at the latest.
I never find people's announcement's "gag" worthy. They may not be my style, but to each their own. I find the "block" or "do not show stories in news feed" button my friend when I no longer enjoy watching people's lives unfold on FB.
I totally think cute FB announcements are fun. I love seeing them from my friends and family. I did a cute one last time because I was super excited and I hadn't been pregnant in 10 years. This time I will probably do something equally as cute with my son and daughter included. It is also an easy way for me to announce because I have a lot of co-workers and family that I don't speak to on a daily basis that will all be notified at once.
I didn't do an FB announcement for my daughter, and I don't plan on doing it with this one. I loved kind of having the secret. People saw me and of course figured it out once I started showing, but it didn't once show up on my FB (I didn't even post photos of me pregnant on there). Some people found out as they received invites to my shower, and some found out when I posted about her being born. I was totally happy with it!
I go back and forth. I don't really want to, but I have many friends and family members around the country (and outside the country) with whom I would like to share the news.
Is it weird that I would like to make a cute picture just to keep for us? Meh. Who knows what I'll end up doing!

Yayyy!! You got the fleurty girl shirt!! I was just showing that to DH yesterday! Super cute way to announce, IMO.

I will probably post something, but it won't be a huge thing. Maybe a picture of the girls with big sister shirts? That's as fancy photo as I can get haha.
My family is really spread out -- I live several hundred miles from the closest one. We have a closed family group on facebook that I will announce in. However, no public announcement for my facebook friends -- I'm old (43) and that would be too much drama.
I am planning to announce on FB. My birthday is April Fool's Day, might as well have fun with it and announce that day. I'll be almost 16 weeks. So, no rush for sure.
I think we will sometime in 2nd tri/maybe wait til I start showing. DH and I have a lot of extended family, and I'd like all of them to find out around the same time (without me personally calling all of them).
I will b/c it's convenient for friends and family out of state. I also plan on using it to talk about IF awareness and sensitivity...put my story out there to help others.

We didn't last time and I don't plan to this time. Honestly, last time I didn't deliberately keep my pregnancy quiet on facebook, I just didn't mention it and it never came up. I just don't post photos that often. I did post a photo of DD when she was born, and the "what?? you were pregnant?" comments were kind of funny.

We didn't announce with our last pregnancy and won't with this one but then again my husband is anti-facebook. We told everyone that we wanted to know personally and then let everyone else figure it out.
Yeah, last time I just posted a pic of myself at 21 weeks and people found out then. I announced when we found out it was a boy. Will prob be low-key again this time.
We have a bunch of friends becoming first time parents around the time of the end of my first trimester so I decided if we were going to mention it on FB at all it would be later so as not to steal anyone's thunder. I'm just feeling more private about it this time too though.

We already have, but it was a simple picture of DS in his big brother shirt. (See siggy) Quite honestly, everyone I know IRL announces on FB and I would find it really odd if someone didn't. Like they weren't happy about the pregnancy or something. Obviously that's not the case for y'all, but it's so unheard of in my circle to not say anything that I would definitely wonder!
We haven't decided if we will or not. My DH isn't on FB so if we decide to, I will post it. We bought a shirt for DS tht says "this guy is going to be a big brother" before our miscarriage but now were not sure if we will do that or just take pics of him to announce to out families, which we haven't done yet and let the people on FB that we aren't close with figure it out on their own.
We aren't. I figure that if there is not an opportunity in the next 8 months for me to tell you personally, then we are not that close and you don't need to know, lol. We'll post pictures after the birth, but nothing before then.

Family will all be told in person, best friends who live far will probably get a letter (I love sending snail mail!).
I am friends with a lot of people I work with on Fb and I don't really want to go through months of having to explain to them that I am pregnant again and again and again. (Doing 3 12hr shifts a week, I can go a month without seeing some coworkers because we all rotate, and scrubs can hide a lot!) I think it might be easier just to get it out there once. That goes for letting the people I was friends with in high school know too...we may not be close anymore, but we once were and I would want to know if one of them was expecting to properly congratulate them based on old times. I actually recently had this happen for a friend, and even though we don't talk much now, it felt really nice to reconnect and send her a small gift to congratulate her on her growing family (not that I expect gifts LOL!).
One thing I am NOT going to do is post US pics. I think it is a little awkward...I don't really want to see your uterus (especially if we are not that close). That is something I think is better shared between people who are really close (parents, grandparents, maybe close friends). If we do anything, it will probably just be me and DH in a pic either holding little shoes or a sign that says "Baby A-- Due 9.26.14", and that wont happen until after week 20!
