The good news is that I have a better understanding of what is going on with my son. The bad news is that he was diagnosed with a multi cystic dysplastic kidney which basically means his kidney is filled with fluid pockets and is non-functional. Luckily his other kidney is working perfectly. He also has a light spot on his heart which is apparently a marker for down syndrome. I had the quad screen done at 15 weeks and my chances for DS were 1 in 2600. Now they are 1 in 1444. I qualify for the verify blood test so I took it today. I should get the results back within 2 weeks. I have another MFM appointment in 4 weeks to keep an eye on his good kidney. Hoping for the best for my little boy.
I had something similiar when I was born. i had Polycystic right kidney. So only my left kidney has ever worked. They ran some tests on me the days after I was born to make sure my left kidney was working fine and that they didnt need to remove my right kidney (they didnt, its still "there" it just doesnt work) I have had no problems growing up! No kidney infections, kidney stones, bladder infections, nothing!! Hoping his little heart turns out to be okay as well!! Keep your faith up!! =]
20 WK appointment and a/s, and we're having a boy!! Everything looks good, and he's growing right on track. And of course, now I can really start shopping.
We had our A/S yesterday morning which I had followed by 5 back to back meetings for work so I never got to check in. I was so relieved to see everything is well with baby and measuring right on track! Plus after some work I convinced my husband to not be Team Green this time so we found out...we're having another GIRL! We were both so shocked and excited! And I have to say after being Team Green with #1 I actually think finding out at the A/S was more exciting for us. At birth I was beyond excited about a million other things (and just in shock that I had a BABY) that the sex was kind of an aside. This time, after we knew the baby was healthy we could focus on the girl part.
And I'm rambling...congrats to everyone who had great appointments yesterday and fx for those waiting on follow-ups!
