I don't post on here often but after meeting a 6 year old today with this name all I could think about was needing to tell you ladies about it.
It's pronounced like "Alice."
Maybe her parents were inspired by the word abyss? It looks like "Alyssa" with a typo.
I cannot possibly wrap my mind around why anyone would put three 's's in a row like that though.

    I opened this thinking you were going to ask opinions on the name Alyssa and had made a typo. Alysss is horrid. I do really live Alice though.

    Ditto this!  My DD is named Alyssa so my eyes just thought it was a typo of Alyssa.  Alysss is horrendous.  Alice is a great name though!

    I thought this too. I also thought Ulyses (sp?).

    Oh how awful for that sweet kid.

    Alyss would've been bad enough, but Alysss? Poor girl is going to have to tell people "that's not a typo" her entire life
