Only me… I swear

You all may or may not have been around during the total DEBACLE of an IUI that was my wife's first IUI in september but believe you me, it was a shenanigan and a half. Well , our luck continues. I said on thursday that she had started to bleed well, it turns out she was being dramatic and really it was a spot and never became the real deal. So we had already emailed the office and set up blood tests so she can start DHEA for if ( a big IF) we go on to IVf again in march. So she calls them and says ok listen let's just keep going because we tested and it's neg and at 14dp its a for sure so whatever.  Our RE says ok but lets dip for pee again…..DW says that's stupid no. If you want, do a beta. 

So they draw for blood and then the RE says she will call us FOR SURE in the morning.  Now, I'd like to note we do not have any false illusions, we know its negative BUT we want to go out and be grown ups and drink. Both os us. for once. and DW if very type A and wants a for sure all clear before she does this.  We waited ALL DAY and no call. So last night rolls around and no call and we can't go drink like big girls so there we are, in our pajamas on the couch, eating Sonic and feeling super pissed.

WTF RE? 

So , today and still no AF and no call from RE and we are just flummoxed. And annoyed….. and looking at adoption laws….sighhhhhhh

    You should have called the emergency line!! Drinking is definitely an emergency when you knows its negative. Stupid RE....

    Hijacking the post to ask about the reasoning behind DHEA and if she's been on it before.

    I've been on it and have opinions.


    BzeetyD = 38, Mr. BzeetyD = 44 together 12/02 married 9/08
    TTC #1 since 1/10
    DX: Unexplained/??? MFI issues

    Our lil' lost sparks:
    5w3d loss 7/30/10 - EDD March 2011
    8w loss 4/15/11 - EDD November 2011
    8w3d loss 8/2/12 - EDD March 2013
    4w c/p loss 10/29/12 - EDD July 2013

    Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
    RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal

    Moving on to IVF.

    IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy

    Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
    IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
    FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
    Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14

    After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14
    We are so in love with her.

    You know... I didn't really listen...I THINK it has to do hormones? I know they took blood on friday to test her testosterone ( a thing which because she has Hashi Moto's is usually low) and then they will test again in two weeks to see the change?  

    What is your opinion?  

    When I was on it I didn't feel much or see much diff, my AMH went up 10% but I was also GF and doing acupuncture for that window of time in which I was taking DHEA, so who knows if it was a group effort or what...and 10% was nearly enough for me.

    This is only my experience and there may be gals on PAIF or SAIF who had luck with DHEA so take this with a grain of salt.

    My RE and I talked about me trying it for our 3rd IVF (local clinic), to change things up and try and improve egg quality, but she mentioned she didn't know if it would affect anything. At the time we were totally up for it but in retrospect we had the worst cycle we'd had and we had the worst results we'd had (needed a 3 day transfer, only got 2 not great looking embies total and then had a c/p). Also I had horrible chest and back acne while on it - but that's cosmetic and who cares anyways.

    In our case we're still unexplained, so clearly there are other issues beyond DHEA trials going on and I don't know if the DHEA truly contributed to it being our worst cycle... so... anyways, I'm hesitant about it unless a doc has great and more proven reasons for it.

    But I am just 1 story and don't want to be a wet blanket on excitement for your cycle. It's fine line at times for me and other vets, I think - sharing experiences but wanting to let each person have their own journey too.

    So I hope that's useful in some way. Apologies if it isn't.
