Does your baby have a big butt?

Curious about diaper sizes.

Friends were recently over and their 2.5 year old is in a size 5.,...lo is in a size 4.
DH thinks it's too big, I think the 3's are too small, but after talking to our friends maybe I have the wrong idea if how a diaper should fit.
You would think If have this figured out at 5 months!

So I'm curious, what size does your lo wear? Comment on the brand as well because I know there can be a big difference in fit.

Re: Does your baby have a big butt?

  • S is in size 4 pampers swaddlers.
  • Loading the player...
  • My DD1 is in size 5s and DD2 is about to switch to size 4s. It's totally normal since babies are so compact and 'little'. They will start to thin out eventually.

  • Ok so I guess they're compact but the width is there now & over the next few years they just stretch out?
  • LO is in size 2 BabyGanics....I think she needs 3....DH thinks she does not...I find they are not big enough in the front to get on properly.

We had a pack of Size 2 Huggies given to us...they sucked....they leaked and WAY to small

DH has fought me on EVERY size up. Idk why, he refuses to accept she's getting bigger?
And after we switch he always comments on how the next size fits so much better. Lol
  • They just expand out, its not being big or having a big butt. I try to stay in the small sizes as long as possible because you get more for your buck.

Is your LO really over 22lbs??

  • We're in size 3 pampers baby drys. I thought it was ridiculous, but I guess that's where most of us are at. LO is super long and she was having regular blow outs/generally uncomfortable in the 2s.

I wasn't serious about the big butt comment...although she is a bubble butt in those 4's with all that padding! No, she's no where close to 22 lbs. she was 15 at her 4 month checkup...maybe 16 now? I'm just guessing, but it can't be close to 22. This is why I think I don't know how a diaper should fit, lol.
  • We just switched to 3. He's really in between but I'd rather a little extra room than him being squeezed into a 2.

  • Size 2 here. Fit great yet.

I am not sure how some babies are in size 4! My other two kids were sooooo chubby! DS was 21 lbs at 6 months old. They were in size 4's at age of 2 when potty trained. I have never used a size 5 ever.

  • LO is currently wearing size 3 Huggies pure and natural. I'll be switching back to pampers Swaddlers when this box is empty. We sized up because there didn't seem to be enough room for her legs comfortably. She weighs between 17 and 18 lbs now.

  • We're in 3s, and use target and luvs.  Nothing wrong with sizing up early!  Our LO always seems to "outgrow" a size before he reaches the weight limit anyway.
  • Size 3 up & up (target) and huggies.
  • We just moved up to size 4's.  Once the poopsplosions start happening I know it's time to move up to the next size.

And for us - the weights have ALWAYS been off.

    My baby is ONE!!

  • We are in size 2's and I think we will be for a while.
  • We are in size threes.  We just moved up about 3 weeks ago because I was trying to use up all my 2's first.  That did not happen.  For us 2's still fit in the waist but just were not long enough.  I have a chunker too.  We were 16 lbs at 4 months and I bet we are close to 19 now.

  • LO is a size 3 pampers. In my experience with my older kids they go up In sizes fast at first then plateau. My DD3 never even made it to size 6 before she potty trained but was in a 3 by 6 months.

Yeah I'm thinking you don't know how a diaper should fit, my chunker is 18lbs and still sporting size 2's, although to be fair he has a plumbers crack LOL. We haven't used cloth in a couple days in attempts to burn through the sposies so we can get him 3's, but he doesn't leak out of the 2s yet anyway.

The reason we sized up was because she was *almost* leaking out the top of the back with every BM. It would be right in the edge every time. I get that is she's in some sort of seat it could squish it up there but it was happening even if she was laying on her mat or me holding her.
  • We are in pampers size 2 or fully snapped down to the first snap on our bum genius CD. LO is 6 months in 2 weeks he is 15.4lbs as of yesterday and still sporting some 0-3 clothes!

  • Zoey is a serious special snowflake..... We sized up cause she was blowing out of the size twos... It's been less then a week in the size three and we are still having blowouts.... I think it's the different style.... :(
  • size 2 luvs. He's always been in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. I tried the size 3 swaddlers on him  when I ran out of size 2s and they were super big and almost up to the pits. I ended up buying more size 2s.

For those concerned with going up to larger sizes already, my friend's baby was in size 5 or 6 before a year old, but then went back down to size 4 because she evened out or something.

  • I cannot wrap my head around babies that are 15/16lbs and still in 2s and 3 month clothes!  Are your babies filled with rocks?  I haven't been able to stuff my guy into 3-6 month clothes or size 2s since he was 3 months old and he's hanging out around the 50th percentile for height and weight.  Maybe my kid is just extra fluffy or very oddly proportioned.
    :P
  • My LO is in size 3s…I think as long as leaking/blowouts are not an issue, you are in the right size.  I found that we had leaking issues with diapers that were too small and too big...

Size 2, she is about 16 lbs. We use pampers swaddlers. L has chunky thighs, but right now a flat kinda booty like her dad. I hope it gets some oomph soon.

    We have our "Irish Twins"

    DD born 8/7/2013

    DS born 7/28/14

  • We CD mainly but use disposables at night. She's in a size 2, pampers swaddlers, right now, is 26" and 15 lbs 10 oz. They fit decent. I usually buy one big box of each size at sam's. Because we CD during the day, this one box seems to last us until she grows out of them. At least, that's how it has worked the last 5 months.

  • @Lokilahve she must be a super pooper man!

  • We just moved up to size three in Luvs. They tend to run smaller than the other diapers we've used.
  • We're in size 3s.  We've had a couple issues with blowouts, but I think that was mostly since DS was taking antibiotics and pooping a ton.  We're going to re-evaluate and see if we need to size up.  Little guy is around 17lbs with chunky thighs.

  • Alex is size M in pampers...
  • Size 3 pamper swaddlers. She weighs 15.5lbs, but I felt the 2 were too tight on her thighs.

  • I picked SS, because he's only in one-size cloth.

That's amazing some babies are already in 4s!! I used disposables right before my daughter potty trained, and she was in 5s (at 3.5 years old).

  • The babies are in size 3s. They're peanuts.

I sized up my oldest to size 4s when he was 5ish months. He was huge and had daily blow outs. We also didn't start solids until 6mo and BM poop has quite the potential for explosiveness.

He stayed in 4s for a year. We sized up to 5s around 18mo and he stayed in 5s until he PTed.

  • Size 3s in huggies little snugglers. He is 20 pounds.
  • Dd is in size 3 and they contain everything so far. I love the fit of pampers cruisers on her.
  • LO is in size 3 huggies and she's 16.5 pounds.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Size 2 Honest Diapers. He has the perfect lil butt! :)
  • I don't always use disposables, but when I do, he wears size 2 Luvs.
  • We are size 2's during the day, and 3's at night.
