Let's discuss an offboard.

I know some people here don't see a need in an off board...

I am a member of 2 off boards originating from TB. I have been with the ladies on each board for over 4 years now and I have nothing but good things to say.

Let's discuss all the pros/cons? I can get one up and running pretty quickly if we go that route.

When you say offboard, is it invite only type thing? Still private with SN?

Personally, I won't do a FB group for security and privacy reasons. If it's some sort of other forum which is still SN's and is invite only then sure.

Private with SN, yes. You don't need to give any personal info. Board is private as in it isn't searchable.

If we did have an offboard, we may need to figure out an initial verification process...like everyone take a pic of themselves holding a paper with their screen name on it with their kid.

Ugh. One major con would be that you guys would all leave me! This is where I want to be... but I really value all of your opinions, insight, and all around goofyness so I guess if the majority votes to go somewhere else I would go... but I probably wouldn't be to happy about it.

I have no intention on leaving the Bump.

However, I'm open to also joining something off board that might be more active if people feel a little more secure than on TB.

I was on 6-9 months with my first LO the first time an off board was created. I didn't want to leave, but most everyone did. I'm glad we did. In the long run it all turned out best...being able to verify members and everything being completely private from web searches and non members our group was able to get a lot closer than being on a public forum.

I'm down with whatever. Just as long as someone take the reigns as admin. We'd also have to have a few mods (which I don't mind being).

I'm also down with not having one. I would like to get to know all of you ladies more (I haven't been around much since N was born) but I'm not very into the public forum thing now that I've been on a private one for so long.

I'm not comfortable with the whole having to share a pic of myself with W to join. I won't share pics here or to join another group. I love this group of ladies and will miss you if you leave but I really value my family's privacy. If that means I can't join you, I understand.

I should have also said that I will still stick around TB. I'm going to need a nanny for all my online activity. Probably a personal assistant to keep track of all these groups and people too.

I'm a 99.9% mobile bumper so a con for me (and maybe others) would be if it was website based. Although I could bookmark the website if needed.

Instead of the pic of you and baby, what if everyone was PM'd a password and provided that upon joining the off board?

I would consider an off board. I didn't join the FB group back when the Erica thing happened, mainly because I thought it was a one time thing. Now we've had another, more serious situation so I'm rethinking that. ETA: posted to soon

I have a hard time keeping up with this site because for some god forsaken reason it goes batty as hell on mobile. I would be very interested, and more involved if wherever the group goes will be very mobile friendly.

I get that some people still don't feel comfortable sharing pictures with themselves and their kid with them holding a paper with their SN. What if everyone sends the picture to me only. Upon sending me the picture, I will send you the link to the forum to join. I know you want to maintain a level of privacy, but really, without doing something like this there's no way to tell whether you are a bearded old man in your basement creeping on us, lol.

And in fact, the moo scandal was found out on our off board. She was fake, posing as a mom of 3 kids, stealing pictures of a little girl from a blog. In cases like that, the person obviously won't have a kid to take pictures with and post with their sn.

Not just any random person on the interwebz can join. The admin has to activate the person who registers and without a picture as described above the admin wouldn't allow them to join.

We would need a group of mods to maintain the board. If you'd like to be a moderator, let me know! I'm willing to friend the mods on FB so that you all know I'm legit and I know you're legit.

This is exactly where I am at as well. I'd really love to join you ladies, and will really miss this board if everyone leaves, but I am uncomfortable with sharing a picture of myself or my kids.

If user name and password don't match, admin would know it was a fake.

Grasping at straws here. I agree there has to be some kind of identity verification or what we are trying to do is for naught.

Can it be a picture of your SN written on a piece of paper? With maybe the back of your LO or LO's hands/feet next to your SN?
