3rd Trimester

why DO celebrities seem to always have c-sections?

i assume elective.  i mean, it's a longer recovery time (you can't exercise as soon duh!), you have a SCAR and are just out of commission longer overall.  So what is the point?

i really don't get it. is it some famous -person trend that htey all have to follow? lolz

Re: why DO celebrities seem to always have c-sections?

  • Because it's convenient and private......you think they want the papparazzi catching them with their water breaking while they are shopping on Rodeo Dr.??
  • Loading the player...
  • It is probably the scheduling aspect of it.
  • I have heard - 1) They have them earlier than the due date (by 3-4 weeks) so that they don't get as big and 2) they have tummy surgery at the same time as being sewen up from c-section.

Don't know if this is true---

  • The same reason they demand only purple M&Ms backstage. Because they can.

  • Because there's other surgeries that can mask that surgery...
  • My understanding is that many choose to have an elective c-section about one month before their due date because it helps to avoid stretch marks, which often appear during the last month.  I'm not sure if it is true, but I heard/read that somewhere and it seemed to make sense if that is the ultimate goal for them I suppose.

  • I think they typically get them done earlier too so they don't get as big.  And how else would you be able to get a tummy tuck the second the baby pops out?

  • most of them are probably too lazy to have to go thru labor and birth. i mean, these ppl don't clean their own toilets either.

i was at a party this weekend and the wife of DH's friend (who is not pregnant) was informing me that scheduled c/s are the way to go so you don't "ruin" everything down there, and she knows this for a fact since her mom had 3.

  • I was wondering the same thing. I had a c/s - not elective (20 hours of labor and 3 hours pushing) and I recently heard you can only have 4?? Not real sure, have to ask my MW. Sounds like it may be accurate though, considering it is major surgery...

We actually wanted 5 kids, lol. But hospitals in our area don't do VBAC's either....

should talk to the MIL who said her daughter would need to have a c-section because she diapered her and knows what she had going on down there....

  • My friend's mom had 9 c-sections. Her youngest is probably in college now, so I don't know if they've changed that, but there wasn't a limit then. She had to have surgery when we were in HS because it had taken its toll on her body, but they were very Catholic and she kept getting pregnant and couldn't do a VBAC.

    Yes, I totally agree!?

    ?

  • A) It's on their schedule/privacy reasons

    B) You can have plastic surgey done at the same time.  They can sew your abs back together if you have a big diastasis recti and I assume they can suck a little fat out too.

    C) They don't want to "ruin" their vaginas

    D) With all of the other surgery that goes on in Hollywood a c-section is hardly a big deal.

  • Darnit, I have to be famous to get the plastic surgury AND a Csection. Darn, when I was getting my C I asked for some plastic surgury and they just laughed. Grrrrrr....I'm off to go get famous so this time I can get the lypo and a C!!
  • I work in the industry and from what I have seen/heard, it is usually 2 weeks before the due date for the above mentioned reasons, as the last 2 weeks can put the most amount of stress, ie stretch marks, on the person. Also, they often have tummy tucks at the same time, no one admits to it, but it happens.  As for Nicole Kidman going to yoga wearing white pants 2 weeks after her baby, that just seems beyond bizarre and not realistic.

  • I heard it's because alot of them have herpes. Apparently, Gwen Stefani, Angelina, and a bunch of others all have them. I don't know if this is true???
