Getting back into shape

I know this is a shitty topic right now for most of us. But I'm just curious what you all plan on doing to get back into shape? I just tried to do one of my old work out DVDs and didn't even make it past the 5 minute warm up. Also what kind of sports bra do you use? My old one is way too tiny now and I need to go out and get a new super supportive one.

  • I had a csection so not cleared to work out yet. But once I am I want to lose 15 to 20 lbs. My stomach looks
    destroyed. Stretch marks everywhere and a nasty pouch from the csection insicion. I don't know if there will be any bikinis in my future but I would like to fit back in my clothes at least!
  • I tried my Bethenny dvd and just like you, I didn't make it very far. ZERO core strength now, holy cow. I'm just going to keep trying, though. I was also thinking about doing couch to 5k when it gets warmer out.

    I was cleared last week for exercise. I am a runner so have been trying to do that, but the most I can do right now is 2 miles. So the past week I've been doing a little bit of everything...walking, running, elliptical, tabata workouts. The tabata workouts are new to me and I really like them!

    I went and got fitted and bought a sports bra that's my size, but it still does not provide the support I need :( I find that wearing 2 sports bras works best!

  • I'm starting back to bootcamp classes February 1st. I have a feeling it's going to kick my butt! I have a lot to lose, I gained way more than I expected in the last 10 weeks of pregnancy :(

  • Sorry to thread jack but has anybody done a barre class? I want to sign up, but I'm not sure if I should get back into some sort of shape first since I heard they can be intense.

    I love them!! They are difficult at first but you'll be hooked. Great results if you stick with it.

  • I'm going to ease back in. I just started doing aerobic videos this morning through On Demand. I also plan to restart the couch to 5k on our treadmill since it's too cold to be outside. I signed up for a 5k in May, so I need to train for that. I'm having trouble with eating well though.

  • I'll be going back to CrossFit. I was cleared for all activities on Tuesday but I'm nervous to go back. Right now I'm only guaranteed 3 months (that are already paid for) due to finances. It'll be tight while I'm on leave as I'm only getting paid (60%) for 6 of the 12 weeks I'm out. So obviously I want to make my 3 months count! I've already talked with the coaches I'll be working with, who know me and are trained to work with PP women. They'll be modifying the workouts for me. It'll be a rough start though I'm sure!

  • Fit Niche has great sports bras, not sure if there is a store near y'all. I started back at the gym 3 weeks ago, just doing treadmill at an incline and elliptical. Need to change my diet though.

    Yeah my eating habits aren't that great right now either. I got so used to eating whatever I wanted when I was pregnant, and as much as I wanted. Now I have to focus on getting back to my regular weight. I know it's going to take quite a while but I am determined to have a beach body by June!

  • I just hit 6 weeks PP yesterday and did my Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack dvd that I lost 15lbs with a few years ago. I was able to keep up for the whole 30 mins and finish but OMG am I absolutely DEAD today. I've never been in such pain head to toe! As for bras... I'm no help there.
  • I'll be going back to crossfit too. Unfortunately, that won't start up until June. In the meantime, we have a concept rower at the house and a spin bike. I plan to walk and jog outside once the weather changes.

    I have zero stamina right now. I was on the rower 3 minutes and thought I was going to die. I'm sure it will come back but will take lots of time.

    That's what I did today! A Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones dvd. I guess I'm just more out of shape then I thought :(

  • I was just cleared today...so I need to jump back on it! I will be doing Shred415 and going back to yoga sculpt. Also, I need to eat better, I know I'll lose the weight if I just eat better. Easier said than done.

    I was cleared at 4 weeks though I returned to crossfit at 3.5 weeks pp. I was there working out at 40+3 days pregnant so I felt fine to go back and do some easy body weight work. It's been good being back. I'm sore but I like the feeling! It's been an adjustment getting used to going all out again. I like that I don't have to worry about my exertion level anymore. The hardest part is that I have to go at 6am which is when I have always gone but getting up after being up several times with the baby isn't easy

  • Pure barre is amazing and targets all of the mommy issues. I wear only nike stuff since that's what my brother can get me for free...love all of their sports bras and they have some really cute ones out.
  • I haven't hit the 6 week mark yet, but I've been walking and have done an On Demand "walking" workout twice this week. My plan after I get cleared is to start running, lifting heavy, and taking fitness classes. I started eating clean about 3 weeks PP. So I'm just trying to keep that up. I cut way down on sugar and try to stay away from any processed foods. I eat fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, and protein. Usually Shakeology in the morning.

     

  • I've started back with Mom and Baby Yoga (and my abs are feeling it today!) this week. I'm working in my Tracy Anderson PP workout DVD and I'll be starting a Stroller Strides class on Wednesday. DH is going to take care of G tomorrow so I can start running at the gym again. I also went back to Weight Watchers last week (I was a lifetime member for about 3 years before I got pregnant) so I've been cleaning up my diet. I've got about 13 pounds to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I'm determined to do it (the right way) before I go back to work in March. 

    I'd really love anyone's suggestions on a sports bra as well. My boobs are so much bigger now that I'm breastfeeding, my old sports bras don't come close to fitting. 
  • Honestly just nothing. It's too soon for me. I feel like I just had my baby. Maybe if I gained a ridiculous amount of weight and was thick everywhere I would think differently, but I was all belly. When the time comes I will like to tone up and maybe join a Zumba class with my girlfriends.
  • I went out and got some large sized sports bras at Victoria's Secret. They're padded with tons of support. For the next month or so I'm doing 3 days a week of cardio. Then after I build up an endorphin tolerance I'll add lifting in two days a week. Then my plan is to be back in CrossFit by June.

  • I have been in the gym 5 days a week for the past two weeks running, doing incline walks and elliptical. ( I have lost 5 lbs yeah!!) I plan on starting weightlifting Monday. As for a meal plan I have always enjoyed weight watchers . It works great for me ! I'll be back to normal in a few months
  • Jillian Michaels and I have a date after I get cleared at 6 weeks. Cannot wait... Then I will be moving into Zuzka Light workouts and get Zcut, I hope. Plus running! Cannot wait to run again!!! Oh man how I miss endorphins and a good sweat session.
  • I'll be using an elliptical, especially at first since it's so damn cold. Eventually I'd like to train for a 5k, maybe early/mid summer. I'm also going to try and do some yoga classes including a Mommy & Me with LO. I second PP who suggested Moving Comfort. I'm about a 36 DD/DDD right now. Some of their bras even have Velcro straps which is great for BFing right before without having to change.

  • Can everyone tell me the times they are able to go to the gym? I am really struggling with that for some reason. I was a diligent gym goer after work 4-5 times a week, all the way up until my due date. I cannot figure out when to get to the gym - so sad, I know. I guess I don't feel like it in the morning after being up all night and am too tired when my husband gets home and I'm not comfortable with her in the nursery yet. Suggestions? Or impossible with the hurdles I just listed?

  • Every time I walk past my elliptical I hang my low and look the other way. Maybe I will start again this weekend. Maybe.

  • Once cleared I will use my elliptical and yoga DVDs. Also want to go to yoga classes if I can get a good deal. When it's nicer out I plan to do long walks with the kids as well. I have started back to eating better and drinking more water.

  • I plan to start running and doing weights at home. Where is my motivation?!
    As for sports bras I second @jenniferbromley and recommend VS. I ran a 1/2 marathon in one of those bad boys. Super supportive and I'm a size DD.
  • I just got t25.  Im a workout dvd girl, but everything i own is just too long.  I figured this would help me get back into shape without taking up a lot of time .

  • After discussing with my doctor and being cleared for diet and exercise I am starting weight watchers and getting back into my running/lifting routine.
  • I have a PP yoga routine I want to try, but so far I haven't even had the time to shave let alone work out.

    This no time yet but every night we go walking for 30 mins with LO in the stroller. Once I'm cleared on the 5th for exercise I'm doing yoga DVD and a cardio DVD from weight watchers. I wish I could afford a gym membership!!!!

  • Eating lots of fruit and vegetables since I'm on a non-dairy diet. For exercise, I'm going back to my Curves and Yoga classes 3x per week as well as Zumba DVD 1-2x per week. Then I plan on adding Pole Fitness and Running about 2x per week if I can find the time.

    Have about 7lbs left to lose. I started title boxing and will combine it with body-pump. I am not bfing, so I am also doing a 1200 calorie diet. Although, I am cheating on this diet tonight with lots of wine and pizza with DH while little one sleeps .:)
