Trying to Get Pregnant

Vent-TTGP Delay?

Ugh.  DH and I finally agreed on trying again, and started mid-December, right after O (of course!).  And then I was laid off yesterday.  I don't know if we should stop TTC until I find a new job-I can't imagine interviewing when visibly pregnant.  And I hear my clock ticking like mad.

I need a hug.  And a drink.  And a job.

  • Aww, I'm so sorry FemShep!  Getting laid off sucks on its own, but having just finally agreed to start trying has to be an even bigger bummer.  ::hugs::

  • I'm so sorry (((hugs))).

I understand how hard it is to hold off because of finances. We're stuck on BC until DHs payckecks stabilize, and the only way I've kept my chin up is because of TB and the wonderful ladies here.

FemShep, I'm really sorry to hear about the lay off and horrible timing.  Agreed that only you and YH know whether it's still a good idea to TTC..  I hope you both reach a decision that you're happy and comfortable with.  ::hugs::

  • Thanks so much, ladies.  You're awesome!
  • So sorry about your layoff.  It's tough enough under normal circumstances, I can imagine how much harder it is when you throw TTC plans into the mix.

Fingers crossed that an even better position comes along quickly!

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • Ugh, I am so sorry! We had to put of TTC for years because of money issues, and it sucks balls. FX that you find a new job soon!

  • I'm so sorry!!! My H and I BOTH were laid off about 2 weeks after we moved in together (we worked for the same company and actually knew it was coming), he got work right away, but it took me 4 months to find a new job.

I agree with the other girls to lay it all out on the table and see if you can financially swing ttc right now and also - maybe you could determine if you have another kiddo, if it's feasible for you to be a SAHM?

Best of luck - oh, and I say, break out the booze!

  • Ladies, I just wanted to let you know that this thread brought tears to my eyes, literally.  It's hard to lose a job, but knowing that I have (virtual) hugs, wine, ice cream, and support has made a huge difference in my day today.  Thank you.
  • So sorry you are going through this. I hope that you find a new job quickly and get a BFP quickly once you and your DH decide to continue trying.

  • The ladies here gave great advice. If it were me I would do some number crunching and see if I could handle it on DH salary alone for a while or whatever other option is available and then make the decision .. I'm sorry you have to make this decision ((hugs))

  • I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. DH lost his job very unexpectedly a couple of years ago, and it felt devastating at the time. Don't let it become a reflection of your self-worth--you are awesome! I hope you're able to find a new (and hopefully MUCH better) job sooner rather than later. Treat yourself to some wine and ice cream tonight. Big hugs your way!

  • That's almost exactly what happened to me too! We were going to start trying the very next month and we had been counting it down for like 3 months before that. Then I got laid off 2 weeks before we were going to start trying.

We did decide to wait, but quickly decided that life is going to keep throwing us curve balls so why wait! Of course, here we still are...

Enjoy all the wine, I'm so sorry this happened to you too. It always sucks to lose a job but with TTC riding on it, it makes it so much worse :(
  • I'm really sorry! How frustrating! I hope you can either find something ASAP or crunch some numbers to feel comfortable moving forward anyway. In the meantime, I recommend wine not the bathtub.
