Preschool potty

Those that has LOs that go to preschool does the preschool have small size toilets for the kids to use? My DD is potty trained but at home she uses the ring that goes on the regular size potty. At school they just have regular size toilets and she is afraid to use it. I thought preschools had small toilets for kids to use. My DD is small so she has to drag a stool into the stall and then balance on the potty and she afraid she is going to fall in. I just don't know what to do.

That's strange that a preschool doesn't have better facilities. Our daycare has tiny toilets and a tiny urinal.

Thank you, so it is not just me that thinks that is odd. When I checked out the preschool I didn't check out the bathroom. I just assumed that there would be small toilets, but now I don't know if I want her to go there because I don't want her to be afraid to go to the bathroom.

They will help her. My daughter got over needing smaller toilets by 3 1/2. Our bring ring in and ask if you can leave it there for her. I wouldnt not go to the preschool because of it

The thing is there is only one teacher in the classroom. She cannot leave the classroom to help whoever needs to use the bathroom.

My DD is starting preschool in a few weeks. The bathroom is in the classroom and has a small potty and sink so she can do things by herself. She was so excited when she saw it.

I would be very disappointed by that too.

How many kids are there? I didn't know there could ever only be one adult in that setting?

My daughter went to preschool with kids starting at 2 years 9 months. The toilets were lower but not smaller, and kids did ok. They were assisted when they were younger.

When is she starting school and what do you do when you are out and about? I think just bringing the potty seat wouldn't be an issue?

There are 10 kids in the class. My daughter just started last week. They just added a couple more kids so they told me they are suppose to hire another teacher. Right now the lunch girl has been in there in the mornings but I don't think she is in there all the time because she also prepares the lunch. When we go out she will either hold it or I will hold her on the big potty. She doesn't have a problem using the big potty if someone is there to hold her hand. This morning before class I took her in and sat her down and convinced her it was a little potty and she wasn't going to fall in. When I picked her up today the teacher said she had gone potty twice...so maybe that was all it took. We will see. Thanks everyone.

Great to hear! Every once in a while they surprise you- they also do things in class they never do at home. Once my older DD started preschool., and the teachers told me what she did on her own, I was shocked.

Glad they are hiring another teacher. Ten little ones is hard to handle. We had 3 full time, 1 part time teacher for 18 kids in my preschool.

Yes, my daughter is always helpful and picks up when we are out. I wish she would do that at home :-)

Haha. someone once said to me better a devil at home, then a devil in public. I couldn't agree more. My 5 year old is perfect in school- not so much at home We shall see what happens with this one.

Haha. Both of my girls are loud, push buttons, like to be the center of attention. I never expected this. I was a quiet kid. Good luck with that one

DD's preschool has a couple different types of potty rings to go on the regular toilet. Of course, DD won't use any of those (only the one at school), so I bring her silly bjorn potty to school every single day on the off chance she'll go potty there and not try to wait until we get home. Which has happened once.

I guess it was a 1:8 ratio but they enrolled more kids and now it is a1:10 ratio. Since there is 10 kids they are getting another teacher. I would not have enrolled her with just one teacher.

At least in California the legal ratio for kids 2-6 is 1:12. However, the teacher should be taking all the kids to the bathroom at regular intervals so that kids aren't going by themselves. I work in preschool and that is what we are required to do. We aren't allowed to send the kids by themselves for their safety and since most of them still require help. The previous school I worked at had smaller toilets for the children but the new school I am working at now does not but parents are allowed to bring in a potty ring if their child needs/wants it.
