I'm curious to know how many of you have had a lot of issues(morning sickness, heartburn etc) carrying a girl vs carrying a boy. It seems like people carrying boys have nowhere near as many issues as those carrying girls

I would say my issues were more than minor. Although I didn't throw up from week 6-14 when I had the all day sickness, I was barely able to function.

Then after that finally went away I got a wicked case of the acid reflux and have thrown up multiple times from it.

And I am pregnant with a lil' dude.

  • I voted SS because I am "one of those" horrifically annoying people whose pregnancy is all unicorns and glitter and rainbows.  Never had m/s, fatigue, sore boobs, etc.  My only "issues" are back pain and peeing my pants when I sneeze.  I'm carrying a healthy baby girl.
  • First baby was a boy and I had a few weeks of morning sickness and then some nausea here and there.  This time with a girl I am still throwing up, and my migraines have been awful - I think I only had two or three my whole first pregnancy.  It is very much a different experience.

  • i'm having a girl and i have hated being pregnant. it started with 24hr nausea coupled with crazy exhaustion, then vomiting, heartburn, acid reflux, and crippling sciatic pain. aside from the constant nausea, none of these symptoms have magically disappeared as was promised on my pilgrimage to the holy land of Second Tri.

  • I'm having a boy, and my only issues have been sore boobs at the beginning, and i get heartburn quite a bit, but it responds to medicine. i feel like minor issues is even an overstatement for me compared to most people. i'd say i've had VERY minor issues. i feel very lucky.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • I have had a fairly issue free pregnancy so far.  No real morning sickness and all I have had to deal with is being super tired and some leg pain at night.  I am a FTM and having a boy.
  • Exhaustion that hasn't gone away, heartburn, constant nausea, still throwing up at 20 weeks.... and it's a boy. Not sure what you categorize all that as, though.

  • I'm having a girl and said "minor issues", but really I feel bad complaining about my back/sciatic pain and tiredness at all after ready what some of you ladies have had to deal with

  • My first pregnancy (girl) was smooth sailing.  I was never sick, only slightly nauseous for a few days and had no other issues.
This pregnancy (also girl) has been almost identical.  I was more nauseous this time around for a few weeks, but never vomited or even really felt like I had to.  No other issues (so far, knock on wood).

I have an 8cm ovarian cyst and low anterior placenta. I'm having a girl, but neither of my issues have anything to with the actual baby. I had about 2 weeks of mild and easily manageable nausea but otherwise I've felt completely normal.

I had high BP and low platelets with DS, but that also had nothing to do with the baby himself. Had about one week of queasiness so mild it's barely worth mentioning, and 9 months of hideous acne. Otherwise felt completely normal.

  • LO is a girl.  I've had a relatively easy pregnancy.  Morning sickness, migraines, sciatic pain, heartburn/indigestion, and antibiotic resistant bladder infections (so I'm on an antibiotic for the rest of the pregnancy, starting last month).  But I know it could be much, much worse, and aside from walking funny from the awful sciatic pain, and not sleeping well I have had it pretty good.  I'm thankful that this is all it is.

which part of that is the easy part? :p

  • While I would definitely not say my issues are severe, I am pregnant with a boy and this pregnancy has sucked. Headaches almost every day, exhausted all.the.time, horrible skin/hair, just feel like total crap all around.

My first pregnancy was with a little girl and it was the opposite. I did have morning sickness in the beginning but when that passed, it was sunshine and rainbows, clearest skin of my life, hair was shiny, thick and gorgeous, I was all around happy to be pregnant. I think the old wives tales say it's supposed to be opposite my experience but screw those old wives.

I am just happy that I don't have the serious issues I have heard some ladies having, mine are nothing in comparison!
  • Sorry, I know this is probably an annoying question, but being a researcher I need to ask.

What constitutes major issues versus minor issues? Is morning sickness considered major or minor? If so, for how long must a person have had it for it to not be minor? Does taking pills for m/s, migraines, etc make it more of an issue?

    ETC, ETC, ETC

Sorry! Haha I can't figure out which one to choose! -.-

I'm having a girl and have had minimal issues. I had only a couple of weeks where off and on I would feel nauseous in the evenings, a few headaches, sciatic pain and sore nipples. That's really the extent of it, well now (TMI) I apparently have hemorrhoids or a tear from hard stool. I was hyperthyroid before pregnancy, went off my meds and at 20 weeks my new labs reveled a swing toward hypothyroid so now on meds for that. Pretty easy so far and fingers crossed it stays that way.

  • Boy - minor issues.

I can't complain at all about this pregnancy other then the severe RLP that's pretty much crippled me.  Otherwise, all has been great.

  • DD1=no m/s, but heartburn
DD2=38 weeks of m/s, again heartburn
    DD3=moderate m/s, again heartburn

  • I've had a great pregnancy so far (insert slap here) it's the rest of my life that's annoying and complicated (divorce, new relationship, learning how to be a big girl, moving, family drama, budgeting, etc.,) but this one portion of my life seems to be going very very smoothly (knock on wood)

  • The only issues I've had with either pregnancy (1 girl, 1 boy) has been joint pain. But that's all me and the hormones. My joints suck anyways without pregnancy. Didn't have morning sickness either time & all around easy pregnancies once we get the joint pain under control.

  • I would say that this LO (girl) and DS are very similar. I feel I have more mood swings with this pregnancy but the blood pressure swelling and constant ms with DS was pure hell. My blood pressure is just now starting to spike as is the swelling so we will see how the rest of this pregnancy goes.
  • Sorry, I know this is probably an annoying question, but being a researcher I need to ask. What constitutes major issues versus minor issues? Is morning sickness considered major or minor? Good question! I was trying to not sound super complicated when I did this. I am going with minor being maybe some nausea or maybe some morning sickness that didn't last more then a month.
  • We're having a girl and I've had no issues (knock on wood). I've just been sleepy on and off since being pregnant.
  • I have bad MS, and this is a girl. Honestly it was worse with DS. Maybe it was because my old doc never gave me zofran and this doc did. I was in the ER a lot with DS and my electrolytes were outnof balance because I was so sick. He was breech as well. I don't think there is a correlation between being pregnant with a girl and being pregnant with a boy.

I didn't know if I should "Love" everyonés comments especially if you are having "issues" thought maybe  I would to show I read them, but I won't... I also figured I should say what I have been going through...

Mine's been minor and we are having a boy. I had nausea in Sept/Oct that didn't last long at all, max 4 weeks. I started getting headaches right after I entered into the 2nd tri but those didn't last long at all. I'm just tired most of the time, maybe exercising would help but I'm a bit lazy these days hehe. I have had a great pregnancy I think my body was meant to be pregnant ;) too bad I dont want a lot of kids hey? :P

  • No physical issues with my girl but lots of anxiety and PPD. No psych issues with my boy but plenty of m/s, earlier heartburn, a failed GTT, and low lying placenta.

  • I'm not sure the difference between issues and minor issues---but I am having a boy and still puke everyday. It is not fun and definitely an issue for me.
  • I've had a girl and now I'm having a boy. With both I had some food aversions, but otherwise I've had very few issues with either pregnancy. I did have different aversions and cravings with them though.
