I.e. What time do you put LO to bed hoping for a magical sttn? I've been curious after seeing so many different routines...

Re: What is LO's bedtime?

  • I voted for 7 because he's usually down around then. The other day he went down at 430 though!
He usually sleeps around 3 hours then back down for another 3. Then he is up every 2 the rest of the night.

  • We start his bath between 6:30 & 7 depends how cranky he is. Then he gets a bottle & falls asleep eating. Most days he's in his bed by 7:30.
  • I'm the worst when it comes to sticking with a schedule so I picked no set bedtime. For DD, bedtime ends up being whenever she falls asleep after her 5th bottle of the day.

  • LO falls asleep at 6-7 almost everyday. Then he wakes up around 8:30 for playtime, a bath, a bottle and usual failed asleep between 10-10:30 for the night. Of course, this is not set in stone each night. It varies a little.

  • If he falls asleep before 9, it's not going to last. If it's after 9 (or right at), we can usually get to 1 am. After that, it's a crap shoot.

  • I chose 9 but it is somewhere between 9-10. Although he does wake to eat one last time before we go to bed around 11, but he is pretty much sleeping at that point. Then he will sleep until around 7 am.

  • The little stinker tends to take a longish nap sometime between 4-7pm so I shoot for playtime right after and hope I can get hime down between 9-10pm.
  • Dd naps a lot during the day and likes to play in the evening. After dinner we usually do story time, kick and play and some other play. She works up an appetite and after her bottle falls asleep usually between 10 and 10:30. I'm going back to work this week and am going to try to get her down earlier.

  • I was putting her down at 9ish and she was STTN, but after her 12 week growth spurt that's all out the window. I'm now getting about 4 hours and then up every hour or 2. It's killing me trying to work. I think she's onto the wakeful period now. Ugh!!! I'm so tired!!!
  • DD usually goes down around midnight, and officially wakes up around 11am.

  • Bath time is around 8:30, then we get dressed for bed and we nurse until she falls asleep. Usually around 10 I take her upstairs and our her down. If I'm lucky she'll stay awake until 3 or 4.

  • @shedna -- i honestly have no idea.  I think it's mostly luck.  She's been STTN since she was about 8-9 weeks old.  The only thing i can say is that she didnt STTN until we put her in her own room, in her crib.  This was also the time we started actually doing a bedtime routine (jammies, bottle, rocking, bed) at a consistent time  as well as when I was transitioning to EPing (flat nipples, breast shield, lazy eater, yada, yada) and she was getting a bottle rather than nursing before bed.  I dont know if it was a combination of all of these things or just that she's a great sleeper.  Either way, I'm just trying to enjoy it now because I know it probably wont last, and even if it does, our next one will probably be a nightmare.

  • We consistently have done jammies at 9pm since he was only a week old.  He now is almost always asleep by 9:20.

DS was totally on this schedule but has been wanting to go to sleep earlier - he's been so grumpy in the evenings!

  • LO goes to bed at midnight because that's when we go to bed. However, she often isn't asleep until 1:30.

  • I have a magical baby who sleeps 7:30PM-7:30(ish)AM.  I keep waiting for the shit to hit the fan because I know it's gonna happen sooner or later.
    Similar here. 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. most days.

  • A gets a last bottle usually around 11-12 and then sleeps til 9am. No wake ups during that time. Between 9am-11pm its "FEED ME" every 2-3 hours. Yesterday she napped too much and she slept like crap last night. Boo.

  • I said no set bedtime as she is just starting to kind of have a schedule.  If she gets a bottle after 8:30, she usually will go down after that bottle.  If her schedule is out of whack and she gets a bottle at 7, then we will need to do a 10 or 11 feeding.  But knock on wood, the last three nights she has had a bottle around 8:30-9:30 and then done some snuggling and then into her PNP in our room by 10ish.  Has slept until 5-7 am.

Hopefully her pattern is becoming a routine.

  • I try to get him down around 7. Sometimes a little earlier if he's being cranky. He used to sleep until 12 or 1 this way, but now that we hit the GS the longest I am getting is 3 hours and then 1.5-2 hrs for the rest of the night. Hearing about babies sleeping through the night makes me die a little inside. We've never been close and I am dreading when I have to wean him from the swaddle (although I know the 5-6 hour stretches were really considered STTN).

  • Ugh we don't get in from work and picking up A until at least 7:30pm, so by the time we have a hurried dinner and clean up we don't head upstairs for bedtime routine until 9pm. I don't know how that will work when she gets older.
  • We head upstairs around 7 and he's asleep between 7:30-8:00pm. Swaddled with white noise in our room.
