Heartbreaking

Up way too late and reading the parenting board which lead me to the proboards.

This gets sad. Partly truly amazing and wonderful, but overall very very sad. Read at your own risk.

An old reg from here gone proboards has a 3 y/o daughter who was suddenly flown to the hospital. I won't go into details about what happened you can read that if you want. But things are not looking good.

Anyway, proboards/friends set up a donation site for them. Holy fucking shit you guys. They have raised over $26,000. That is freaking insane! So amazing. Faith in humanity is restored.

Pixy. And it's so sad. I've been praying for them and hoping that they get some good news tomorrow. I can't even imagine what they're going through. My heart just breaks for them.

I'm just could not imagine. Ugh. I feel so awful for them. I hope this giant out pour of love they are receiving can maybe make this entire thing a little less horrible, if that is even possible. I'm so happy there are so many people out there that are willing and able to help during this tragic situation.

Another board Im on has girls who have known her for years and they've been updating us on the situation since Thursday. When I read the latest update I cried. I cannot even fathom having to face even the thought of making those decisions. Hug your babies and hug them tight.

But the outpouring of support, love, and money is truly overwhelming.

Praying for this little girl--I saw this on FB first, a friend of mine knows them I believe--i think they are here in CO at Children's Hospital? It is supposed to be an amazing place so I hope they get good news soon. I couldn't even bring myself to read the threads here on TB.

We've been following on my two offboards (Pixi is on boards with a lot of bumpies from my offboards) and my heart is breaking for them. I sincerely hope that MRI this morning had better than expected news, I cannot even imagine!

From what I read, it sounds like ZB became ill and was throwing up. They took her to the ER, where she got some Zofran and was sent home. It turns out that she had an intestinal perforation from some kind of injury she sustained at daycare that went undiagnosed.

The perforation caused a massive infection, which lead to septic shock and cardiac arrest. I believe they flew her to Children's and she first arrested on the helicopter. When they took her into surgery to fix the perforation, she arrested several more times.

The big concern is that she was down quite awhile, so even though they brought her back, they are worried that the lack of oxygen to her brain caused brain death. The MRI will check for brain activity.

This is my understanding of what happened.

The above kind of summarizes it. As to what actually happened to cause it a lot isn't being said because it's under investigation. Pixy's words:

"I'm putting this here, because I know there has been speculation and rumors being the internet and all. Trust, I know how the internet works and I know there's probably been some googling to see if anything has been in the news.

I honestly cannot say much as there is an open investigation going on right now. We are not under investigation. We have been in contact several times with the authorities. We are fully cooperating with the authorities when they ask for information. We have not been contacted by the press, and quite frankly I don't want to be hence nothing in the news. Social service in the hospital has been a fantastic advocate for us. We are taking it one step at a time, and truthfully, my focus is not the investigation. My focus is my little girl. I will keep posting updates on my FB."

Sorry to post this update, but this is the latest:

We are letting her go peacefully. There is no hope that she is still in there. Every part of her brain has been effected. We will be donating pieces of her life so others may live. Say a prayer of peace for us and one for a quick transition for my girl. Thank you so much for everything. You are all in my heart.
