Gentle detergent?

I'm sure this has been discussed but I didn't see anything with a search. In case our detergent is making LOs break outs worse, I want to switch to something more gentle.

What do you all reccomend? Does anyone use Dreft/what do you think?

Re: Gentle detergent?

  • I use Dreft and love the subtle smell. It also seems to get things clean, but it's all we've used for her stuff so I don't have anything else to compare it to.

  • I use all free and clear. It has no real smell but there is nothing irritant in it.
  • I use Purex baby. it's alot like Dreft except cheaper.
  • I use the store brand (Market Basket) of free and clear on everyone's clothes.

  • I use Tide Free & Gentle because my SIL left some behind when she was here over the summer and did my neohew's laundry. I'll probably try some cheaper detergents when it runs out.

  • Dreft here. No complaints so far.

  • I'd recommend tide free and gentle also, powder form. Draft has fragrance in it and you should avoid that if your lo is having problems. There is also a brand called Ecos that you can get in bulk at places like sams club that is very natural and gentle.

  • We use Tide Free and Gentle. We checked out various detergents but liked Tide most because it didn't have a strong scent. Dreft's scent was too strong for me.

  • Skip the Draft. Any free and clear, free and gentle or fragrance free should be good. We use biokleen free and clear powder.
  • I've been using Dreft since the start and have had no complaints. It doesn't leave any sort of scent on LO's clothes. But I will probably try one of the free & clear store brands next just to try to save some money because I am doing laundry constantly now.

  • Thanks!! I was seconds away from getting Dreft, I didn't realize it had a scent. I appreciate the suggestions!

  • We switched to Honest Co products for the baby. I prefer to know exactly what is and isn't in the products she's coming in contact with. It's amazing the chemicals that get put in some products. It's no different than Johnson & Johnson and the formaldehyde in their baby products, that weren't disclosed.

  • We like Honest Co and All Free & Clear. DS dermatogist recommended All Free & Clear. We use either for everyone which makes laundry easier!

  • We use Costco/Kirkland brand free and clear. Also another vote to avoid Dreft if your baby is already having issues with irritation and detergent.

  • We use tide free and gentle. The only thing that bothers me is it smells like vodka in the bottle. Although my clothes have never smelled like that after being washed so maybe it's the plastic?
  • Babyganics. Good so far
  • We have Purex baby soft He had a bad rash in the hospital from detergent and we haven't had any issues with this!
  • I absolutely swear by All Fresh&Sensitive. I switched to this detergent entirely to keep from having two different detergents to buy. Money saver!!
  • We use Ivory Soft and it doesn't irritate little man's skin at all
  • I use Method with no scent.
