I have a 4 day work trip coming up in mid feb. I'll miss lo like crazy, but I may be a little too happy about DH finally getting a taste of how much I do around here.
I've been withholding sex from H for many weeks now. He hasn't been helping much with LO lately. I could count on one hand the number of diapers he's changed the last week. And he stays up late every single night playing games on his computer. When he finally comes to bed it wakes me up and I have a hard time falling back asleep. This doesn't exactly put me in the mood for a romp in the hay! Yesterday morning I told him to come to bed by 1 a.m. or not to come to bed at all, it's inconsiderate and I've had it.
I am at a work conference in Vegas, and totally plan on skipping today's last session to go shopping instead.
Married DH : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat) DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18 FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!
I totally understand now why people dump off their pets when they have children. While I would never even begin to dream doing it, some days I get to my wits end with both baby and animals, I have been known to utter...JUST GO OUTSIDE AND RUN AWAY...to the dogs...Having both is hard...I have 3 dogs right now, all seniors, and one of them is a foster for our rescue group, but some days they can be such a handful. Add in the 2 cats, and I got a zoo!

When our dogs pass, we're totally taking a pet "break". I'm very tired of wiping butts, feeding things, and all those things being right under foot. Reducing the number of beings I'm in charge of will be nice for a while.
Even though I understand the reality and work involved in a furbaby this makes me kind of sad. I sometimes feel sorry for pets who suddenly are pushed aside for this little baby that's come along. I've started to make a more conscious effort to spend time playing with our dog, it's not her fault we had a baby. And she loves us do unconditionally. Even though it's hard sometimes I could never give her up. A commitment is a commitment.

DH has decided no more cats. He couldn't handle changing the little box for the 9 months I was pregnant.

DH and I had this conversation the other day. As much as I want DS growing up with a dog, I think we will take a break for awhile.
I'm thinking of "accidentally" dropping dh's xbox on the floor so it breaks! I hate what the xbox does to men!!!
I've seen this come up as a problem a lot both IRL and online. How do you deal with it? Do you ask him to play it less? Does he just refuse?
I feel so bad asking him not to play on it because I think he deserves his own space and time to chill out. But I sometimes feel like he's always trying to cram time in to play it! Like last night he was up till 2am playing which i guess doesn't effect me except that he"ll be tired when he gets home from work! He's so much more productive when the xbox I didn't around!i just wish he used that time to take LO for a walk or play with him. I have no solution to this!

-------------------------------- We're currently on a pet break. My floors have never been cleaner and my chores are cut in half. It's wonderful. Then I see our doggie door and follow a few rescues on FB and want to bring home all the dogs. I really really miss having a pet in the house. Just a little bit longer though!
My FFC isn't a new one: DS1 is going to daycare today so I can nap. I don't really NEED a nap- I would just like to.

Where did I say I've pushed them aside? You're acting like I'm driving them to the vet to have them put down right now. 8-| Just saying I won't be adopting another pet for a while after these are gone.
I wasn't saying YOU were pushing your dogs aside I just mean in general I feel for dogs when a baby comes along because they inevitably get pushed aside. I didn't mean it to be directed at you. Sure it happened with our dog when LO came along we just didn't have the same time to spend with her. I think its sad that's all.

I agree..I never have pushed them aside....I could have been a burden to our rescue group and given my foster to someone else, but he has been in my home now for almost a year...He loves my LO...he is just old, and I have him because someone else "pushed him aside" My dogs still sleep with us, get all the extra attention when its there....I just want a few less hassles. I will always have a dog....just not this many

Yup. You can love someone/ somefluff and still not like them very much. Im having a hard enough time making one on one time with my older kids, the dog and bunnies are unfortunately not priorities right now. Doesnt mean they wont be forever.
Speaking of dogs, I let my 2 dogs take a nap on the bed with LO and myself. We took a long 1 1/2 hr nap.
I told myself I wouldn't do that. They are big 65 and 78 lb dogs. Although well mannered, I know all it takes is an unknowing roll over to smush M. Or a stretch of a leg to kick him.
All 3 of them (LO & the pups), all needed mommas attention and love. It was a good nap.

Our dogs are the same... 65 and 75... and they unfortunately have claim of our bed (flame away!). They sleep on the couch sometimes, but our rottie especially loves snuggling. I was pretty sketched out when we had them in the bed and LO was with me some nights. We did good and they stayed away. I'm such a light sleeper that the tiniest movement put me on alert anyway. I'm happy to say those nights are over though since LO isn't co-sleeping.
I am so grossed out people let dogs sleep on their bed.
I think cats are far worse than dogs. They basically step in their shit and piss multiple times a day. Our dogs are inspected when they come in the house and it's a RARE occasion.

Backtrack much?
@Bunnyfer had said she could understand why people dump their fur babies once LO comes along. I was just saying how I think that it's sad that pets get pushed to the side after babies come along. I didn't mean it to be directed at @Sundae13. Just a statement in regards to the pet thing. Not trying to backtrack.

I got my dog when I was single and living alone. So I always slept with her. Now it's a habit to have someone or a dog bedside me. I hate being alone in bed!

Dogs roll in poop. Cats step on clean litter, if they are stepping in piss then their parents are doing a lousy job at taking care of their furbabies.

Our dogs never roll in shit. A cat.. when they use their little box, cover their doings. You can't tell me even if the little box is cleaned daily, that there isn't fecal matter or urine all over their paws.

After the stress and heartbreak of having to put one down and the other suffering from massive seizures... all at about the same time... we agreed to take a break, too. More so because I'm not ready to go through the heartbreak of losing one again.
When we put the one down EVERYONE wanted to run out and get us a puppy. I don't have the energy for a puppy along side an infant, a preschooler and an 8 year old pure bred who may or may not be developing epilepsy on top of his thyroid disorder. Plus I think it'd be cruel to introduce a puppy to a house with an elderly dog who is clearly mourning the loss of his alpha.
Hopefully Tyson has a few years left in him, but I'm not sure I'm going to want another dog when he's gone. I think I need a break. Maybe we'll get back into reptiles.

My dog rolls in shit like Scrooge in a money pit.
But even those that don't, they are outside and picking up dirt and just yech.
Cats are just a cleaner animal in general. But I wouldn't let them sleep on my bed either.

When my dog was alive he would grab himself a frosty treat from the catbox.

My hubby decided to leave to see his family a day early and take LO. I'm thrilled, he thinks it's going to be easy. Ha!

--------
Cats also groom themselves a billion times a day. Mine especially like to concentrate on their feet.
ETA: quote fail.
I feel like our dogs are WAYY cleaner than our cat. She freaks me out.
My furbaby has definitely taken a backseat since LO was born. He was my prince when it was just him. This doesn't mean I love him any less and it won't always be like that. In fact... His best years are ahead of him bc he has a built in best friend as soon as LO is mobile. So... While all of our lives have changed with having an infant in the house, it's a short blip on our radar and things will only get better. While I feel bad for him when I am on the couch nursing LO and can't play fetch with him, I know soon enough he will have so much play time he won't know what to do with himself.
Cats are just a cleaner animal in general. But I wouldn't let them sleep on my bed either.
How do you even have a choice in the matter?? I wake up sandwiched between 2 or one sleeping on me. I somehow have the 3 most affectionate cats ever. They love cuddles and pets and won't eat your arm. And are also giant and fluffy.

If you wear a super short skirt or extremely high heels to work, I'm going to assume you're sleeping with someone here or at least trying to.
