What does lo sleep in?

I'm afraid of overheating or freezing my lo. We live in a cold climate and keep the house heat on 71. How many layers do you put on your lo. Would a full onsie plus a wearable fleece blanket be enough or too much? What about if we added a third layer of a short sleeve onsie under neath it all? I feel clueless!

Re: What does lo sleep in?

  • We put LO in a footie sleeper, swaddle me and covered from the waist down with a light blanket. We keep our house at 70 at night in Chicago.

  • I think you are fine. We usually do a sleeper and a fleece swaddle and keep the heat around the same.

  • Most likely, LO will make it known if they are uncomfortable.
We keep our apartment heat set to 70 and LO usually has a short sleeve onesie and fleece footie or something to that effect.
She's a sweaty baby, especially when she sleeps on me, so I make sure she's not too warm by touching her skin frequently.

  • Sleeper and swaddle. But today I used a little blanket instead if a swaddle and he seemed to like that. He's almost 3w old and has started to not like having his arms swaddled so the light blanket works good
  • We keep our house at 66. I layer him in two cotton swaddle mes or a cotton and a fleece swaddle me.
  • Our bedroom is about 68.  She has on a short sleeve onesie under a footed sleeper.  I then put her in a sleep sack.  I used to swaddle but she only tolerated the swaddle for about 2 weeks.  She sleeps pretty good in those layers.

  • Usually just a cotton or terry footed sleeper (fleece if it's a colder day) and a cotton Halo sleep sack. Today is a "really cold" night in Florida with temps in the 30s so she'll be in a fleece sleeper with a long sleeve onesie under the sleep sack. Our normal house temp is 72, but it's around 67 right now since we had the patio doors open. I've heard 65 is an "ideal" temp for babies.

  • We keep our house at 73, and the baby's room is the warmest in the house.  She sleeps in footed pj's and is swaddled in a receiving blanket.  Once were done swaddling, we will probably add a onesie underneath her footed pj's.

Heat goes to 68 at night. I have been putting her in a baby gown (makes diaper changes so much easier) and then a sleep sack over that. Then I tuck a swaddle blanket around her lower body in the RnP. On super cold nights (we had a few that were near zero) I put a cap on her head too.

This. We live in Iowa and it's negative two out. This girl is still sweating. She would probably rather be naked, but her jazz hands have to be held down or she won't sleep.

No I believe that was WHERE does baby sleep for what seems like the hundredth time. But there might have been a warm weather clothes thread... But I don't know, I'm in the tundra so didnt want to torture myself reading it.

Glad I'm not the only one... All these responses sound like a lot of clothes to me! LO is a furnace and sleeps in a cotton onesie, mittens, socks, and we swaddle him from the armpits down as he likes his hands free. Sometimes he wears a hat to keep his ears warm. House is at 68 and we're in TX.

  • Our house is set to 73/74 and LO lives in sleep and plays and side button t shirts underneath. We cover her with a blanket waist down.
