Name help

My husband and I are having a girl but don't agree on ANY names. We know some things we don't want: names that start with A, names that end in a long e sound (I.e. becky, cindy, whitney), unisex names, names that are extremely popular, and really, really unusual names. Other than that we're pretty much open. Any suggestions welcome!

Re: Name help

  • I would suggest getting a couple copies of baby name books (or printing out pages). Each of you go through the list and highlight names you like then come together to see if you have any over lapping. Good luck!

My niece is named Norah that may fit your criteria? Try searching babynames.com for ideas too.

When I was in HS I always wanted to name my future daughter Carissa Nadine.  I now prefer "A" names so feel free to have this one if you like it! ;)

    *Edit for an additional thought*

Not being snarky, but I think you might have better luck with this question on the Baby Names board. There are tons of threads on there with name suggestions.

Your parameters are pretty broad and I don't know what you'd consider "too popular" or "too unusual" so I don't have any name suggestions for you.

  • If Princess Buttercup is out, have you considered Optimus Prime?

In all seriousness, I would recommend lurking the Baby Names Board. They have a ton of polls up and name posts and you could get a ton of good ideas!

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Check out baby name wizard website. You can search by all kinds of parameters with options for exclusions. I like nymbler.com too

Definitely check out the Baby Names board. I am so lost on names for my twins and they were super helpful in a thread I started yesterday.

  • @snowpants, that is my all-time favorite scene. "I'm not saying I want to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely." I die.

You can vote for that on NameMyDaughter.com.  Gotta get them votes in if you want to beat out the current lead of Cthulhu AllSpark...

  • I agree that a book might be your best bet.  We like Italian names, so we found lots of lists of italian names on the internet.

Nothing really popular or really unusual? That narrows the options quite a bit, depending on a person's scope.
