Thursday randoms

DD is currently running around the mall play area. I'm having work done on my car. Brought it in at 10 and it won't be done til 2. And of course needs extra work so more $$. Like probably double what I wanted to spend. Thank goodness for tax returns!

  • Just made B a salad for lunch. This kid loves lettuce. Mixed in some grilled chicken and diced tomato and she went crazy!

I bought reusable pouches and whipped her up one this morning. 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 carrot, and a little cinnamon. OMG she sucked it down. Why didn't i do this before?!?

  • The past 2 or 3 days Emma had been waking up at 830 and not going down for her nap until 12 she wakes up at 230 and then has lunch. Our schedule is so off.

  • My husband is going to his "game night" tonight. It annoys the crap out of me every month he goes. He won't be home until at least 2 am. Gr. Also. I have a ton of stuff to do around the house but 1st trimester laziness is in full swing and I can't get my ass up to do any of it.

This is pretty much our schedule on a good day. It happened after she dropped a nap, so she is on one big nap a day. I love it! It's so much easier to work with.

This always happens to me. I save a nice long warm shower for nap time. Then 5 minutes into it with shampoo on my head the monitor goes off.

  • I worked out this morning while DS2 napped and DS1 watched Cars. I wanted DS1 to work out with me but he didn't want to. I haven't done another darn thing. Showered, made the boys lunch, and now lounging while DS2 plays and DS1 naps. I typically work out once both are napping in the afternoon, but I wanted to sleep during that time as well. Mostly a confession I guess. Definitely a little selfish today, but seriously, the workouts need to happen y'all.

  • Just venting. Kinda pissed at myself.  I usually take my car to pep boys.  but lately I haven't been happy with them- always takes a lot longer than they say, even when i make an appointment and I don't think the tires I have been getting last as long as they should.  So I took my car somewhere else and it just seems so much more expensive! not like in an I got ripped off kinda way, but a$5 more for this, $9 more for that kinda thing and it just all added up. I just have to keep telling myself that "you get what you pay for" but  I am going to be stewing about it all day
  • I'm so bored at work today!  And this board is slow :( I was hoping to be entertained

  • @BeaF12 she knows what to do once she sits on the potty chair, but has yet to tell me she needs to go. Once she gets the hang of knowing when she is wet and all that, we may give nakedness a shot. :)

@cnana I know you aren't going full potty training, but we've used the potty training in 3 days and it recommends letting kids be @ home in just a shirt, no diaper or undies. If Alice is getting the hang if it, you might be able to train her for home. I've heard in other countries kids are potty trained much younger than in the US.

I am going to second this. Worked perfectly for my dd before she was potty trained by 20 months. And we finally got serious with ds1 and did the boot camp two weekends ago and he has been in undies ever since. Works like a charm.

I am going to link this. I never read any books or studied too hard on the potty training boot camp. This was all I needed to read and I made it work for my kids individual needs.

  • Henry has a double eye infection!!  Sad...

Also, daycare sent home a note yesterday saying that he refused his lunch for the second time and asked if I had any tips on how to get him to eat.  Lol, yea right...Uh, am I supposed to have tips?

I hate when someone asks me to look at something on their computer and it turns out to be something I don't like or takes longer to look at than a few seconds.  Two examples from today:

"Hey look at co-worker's wife's wedding dress!" Co-worker is in the room.  Dress is fug, but I have to say it's nice.

"Look at these beautiful photos" Pictures ARE in fact really nice, but there are SO many and I am expected to stand there while she scrolls through them all, apparently.

This is a common thing, though I will say that this particular coworker is especially bad about it.  Send me a link if it takes more than a few seconds, and when I say I am busy or turn away after a few seconds, don't get all annoying on me dammit!
I am definitely like this with people at work sending me links to YouTube videos.  Even though they are sending me the links through Skype, I feel obligated to comment about it.  Sometimes I just go, "lol, omg!" without ever having clicked on it.

    But seriously...don't waste my time...

Man, I love it when DH goes to game night!  He doesn't usually leave until after Henry goes to bed (because the people he games with also have kids), so I get several hours of sweet, sweet alone time.

Yea that wouldn't be so bad except he leaves straight from work and doesn't come home until all hours of the night. If he came home and gave me a break for a few hours I wouldn't mind but today in particular I want to rip out my hair. She has been a whiney, crying mess all day.

I wanted to go on a one night cruise for his birthday and he doesn't want to leave the baby so he told me to go without him with my mom or sister if I really wanted a night away. Arg.

Mh has guys night on Wednesdays. Theoretically we could do girls night, but there aren't enough nights to fit it in because I go to pajama storytime at the library on Mondays and the gym on Tues/Thurs. I guess I could go to girls night, sweaty from the gym.
yeah, 2 nights a weeks are gaming.  Then one night he's not home he has orchestra rehearsal but at least that night is when DD and I have church.  Then he stays late at work 2 nights because he's taking a class for his masters.  (he's getting his masters after he spent 5 years in a phd program and left with no degrees. I can't even with that such a waste of money)

He is good about watching her when he's home though.

There is urine everywhere with the 3 day plan. My sister calls it the "3 day $30 plan. 3 days, and $30 for a Rug Doctor rental."

It wasn't nearly this bad for us. There was pee on the floor, but you just get some Resolve and it's fine. We didn't have as many accidents though because DS1 was 3. He was old enough to get it, he just didn't want to do it. Then I started bribing/rewarding with hot wheels and the tables turned.

  • I dont want to go clean my nasty kitchen. But I am starving again and I can't cook until I clean. Blah.

I usually only remember to eat once a day. So once I do eat I am famished until I go to bed.

We only did it for about a month, but I can see how daycare throws a wrench in even that. But a lot of moms I know with kids in daycare that are DS1'S age had their kids potty trained before DS1 was. They said daycare often "did it for them." Made me want to tear my hair out because I did it all myself and it was really freaking hard with a resistant 3 year old. But if you have daycare providers that are willing, then there you go.

I kinda jokingly (and maybe not so jokingly) told MIL and DH that daycare would be potty training Henry for us, and they both looked at me like I was the most terrible person on the planet.

    Whatever....I'll own it.

  • DH just texted me a picture of his dog post-surgery -- She had mast cell tumor (cancerous) removed today.  While I'm happy that DH's dog is alright and that the cancer didn't spread, I am kind of upset that it cost over $1,000.

Maybe this is an FFFC or UO, but I am not the kind of person who gets so attached to dogs that I would ever pay that kind of money for this.  I don't bat an eye or judge people that do, except that DH is one of them and we happen to share a checking account.

That was the money I was saving for a doula  :((  ...and maybe a baby formula Keurig machine (just kidding...)

@zeigeficker my dog stomach surgery in September cost $3500. But I couldn't put my girl down at 2 for eating something...

I understand why people do it, I am just not one of those people. It's fine, there was no way I could make an issue out of this with DH. That's his pal.

I thought exactly what @NeedUTonite said, though -- Paying for this surgery isn't going to guarantee she will be cancer-free. In fact, most everything DH read about this kind of cancer said risk of recurrence is high. I don't blame DH for trying to save her, it just sucks that it was so damn expensive.
