I'm so exhausted and I know breastmilk is best but I'm am seriously considering formula feeding to save my sanity.

This is why I went right to formula with my second. I was not willing to be so miserably exhausted again. Good luck. It's a difficult decision to come to.

I don't know if this is unpopular or not but I think that those PeePee TeePees are completely unnecessary, and just another way to get new parents to spend money.

I totally agree, but my parents got these little camouflage ones that are pretty cute. Totally unnecessary, but adorable nonetheless.

My FFCF last week was that they rocked. 1 week later I'm such a diaper changing stud I don't need them. :) nice to have handy, but diaper/wipe/washcloth does the same thing. I am impressed by their absorption though, and dh still uses.

Oops! Sorry for the repeat topic, I guess I must have missed that FFFC. I've changed more diapers than I can count in my life so I'm sure that's part of why I feel the way I do - DH on the other hand might have another opinion lol

This board is so slow....I'm secretly jealous of all the mommas whose babies have arrived! Anyways, my UO: Smartphones for young kids (~10-13, in particular). I think it is ridiculous that kids that young have access to smart phones. Also, I could also apply that to teens as well. My cousins have had smartphones for the past two years with an additional basic cell two years prior. They are 15 and 17 now. Their traditional social skills have completely degraded as they are constantly texting/playing games/etc durning family events, and it drives me batty!

For this reason, DH and I mutually decided that LO will not be getting a cellphone until he gets his permit to drive. I'm fine with letting him use the iPad (with the timer function on it) but there is no reason a kid needs a cell phone that young.

*Not that you ladies left are bad, it is just that it's so borrrring lately ;)

Also, I would not recommend taking a spontaneous afternoon nap while your toddler is up. I awoke covered in mega legos and a wooden blocks.

Now that I am out of the initial haze of immediate post partum, I'm trying to be more present. I'm also trying to start more posts instead of just like lurking.

Toddlers can never be trusted during naps! I'm always afraid of what will happen if I choose to nap while she is awake. At least yours was easy to clean up!

  • I had to pump only last time b/c DS would NOT nurse and I could never keep up so I had to supplement with formula and I hated pumping, so I'm considering just using formula when DD arrives.

@Slmille4 I've been following your posts, and I'm worried about you. It seems you are really struggling. Are you doing okay? Do you have a great support system so you could get some rest?

  • @jessicabcairns I was just wondering how far along you are (I'm on mobile can't see tickets) because my Dr wants to sweep my membranes Monday, but I'll only be 39wks 3 days so we are debating it
  • @jessicabcairns thank you. I'm not due until Thursday. Felt like the Dr just wanted to speed things up when he scheduled it. Our appointment is in the evening. Hubby and I are going to talk about it again. I'm scared its going to hurt too bad.

    @sugarland726

I noticed you around more lately and it is awesome :)  Our family room has a baby gate and is baby proofed. While I napped on the couch, DD was "locked"  in the same room with me. I would have not felt comfortable napping otherwise!

Edited because I am incoherent today...

I wish family/friends would ask our permission to take pictures of Lana and post them on FB. I think I have some overprotective tendencies and it really bothers me that people keep snapping away and posting them online w/o asking me. The worst part is that I know I shouldn't say anything bc its not that big of a deal and I don't want to sound like a lunatic.
I don't think this is an UO at all. I don't even have a FB account and do not want pictures of the kids online. It's just not something I'm comfortable with. My friends get it but I have asked SIL to remove pictures she posted without my knowledge.
I don't have a problem with people posting pictures of my kids, but I do have a problem with them tagging me or my kids when they do.  Tagging opens up a whole lot of different privacy concerns.  The only exception I have is if it's a photography business because then it's part of their business and I would rather be tagged in those posts.

I think longingly for the days of sleeping when I felt like it. Makes me feel bad that I miss my pre-baby life so much. I get so anxious at night because of getting up so much with little guy. From what I understand many moms feel this way, so I don't understand why people don't share that with new moms.

January Siggy Challenge: When I am done breastfeeding...

  • This is super random but I'm going to throw it out there. I think that dryers (as in for clothes) are way overused. People complain about how expensive their energy bills are, but then they run their dryers without even thinking about it - it takes like 10 minutes to hang up all the clothes after a load, and it's free! Your clothes last way longer, you save money and energy, and you get a bit of a workout :)
I get it if you live in an apartment where you have nowhere to hang them, but otherwise get a rack or hang a line in the basement or something.
People have told me they just like their clothes to be fluffy, but you can throw them in for like 5 or 10 minutes after being hung and get the same result.
I also realize this is like the lamest UO ever. Haha. But I know it's unwanted because people always seem really surprised when I say that I hardly ever use our dryer. Honestly if it broke I probably wouldn't replace it for months.

In regards to the makeup I almost always wear foundation or blush of some sort when I leave the house, but it is another one of those things to each their own. I would definitely not want my DD growing up feeling like it is necessary.

Piggybacking on the makeup, I hate it when I see young girls out wearing even minimal blush or tinted lip gloss under the age of 10. I do not plan on buying my DD pretend makeup either...Especially a pretend makeup mirror vanity or whatever those things are.

I wore make up daily while working. I don't wear it at all when I am home and that includes running errands and seeing family. However we had pictures done this weekend and I put on makeup and I felt refreshed and pretty and wonderful. I think make up has a lot of emotional benefits, but I dislike that some women feel it is necessary in order to be seen in public.

I agree @sugarland726 that it does have emotional benefits, I would be lying if I said i've never felt better about myself after putting makeup on. I also get that some women don't wear it and I don't see anything wrong with that- just comes down to personal choice.

  • I have another one: I don't mind getting spit up upon or pooped on from DD. It doesn't gross me out at all, I guess when its your own..those things don't matter.

I agree, but once baby starts eating real food poops get way nastier. The smell is what gets to me when DD poops in her diaper now. ::silently prays DD becomes interested in potty training very soon...::

I really, really love it! It's 10 million times better at sucking out snot than the sucker they gave us at the hospital. LO gets pretty annoyed by it, but that only lasts a couple of seconds. I seriously get really excited when I get snot out with it!

I may spoke too soon lol! SO got peed and pooped on for the first time yesterday, I could tell he was pretty gross out. I got a waterfall of spit up when I was burping her and it all went into my super absorbent bra from Walmart. It was like magic!

  • @ccip82 I am hoping that my DD gets interested in actually peeing in the potty, not just the toilet paper part LOL.

UO would have to be that I am so over trying to potty train, I have been trying (at her pace) for months, as I don't want to be buying 2 different size diapers at the same time, but as my due date inches closer, I have come to the realization that I am SOOL.  I hope my sister has better luck trying to potty train her, she is coming for a 2 week visit from England on my due date, and I am hoping that Chloe will take her as less of a joke than me.

For the record, I am make up whore. In just disagree with the opinion that.all women should wear it, that they look better with it, and the pressure from society to do so.

I wear it for me, not anyone else.
