I did mine last weekend - I did a ton of research and then we went around and it took about 2 hours. We had time and I'm not getting any smaller so why not?
I have just put the big items on it , like the crib and changing table and bassinet. Our moms want to buy a big item each. can't wait to go to the store and do it!
I am 19 weeks an registered on Amazon last weekend. With my prime membership, it was the best completion deal. I did a bunch of research before hand. I have about 30 items on my registry, ranging from $10 - $200. Most items are on the cheap end.
I only put a few things on mine so far mostly so I can remember what I want. I don't feel any rush yet though as I don't even know if I am having a shower or not.
I'm 20 weeks and did mine yesterday. I figured might as well do it now that I feel fine. It took maybe 2 hours? You can always just register online and add as you go
I think with Charlie I did it around 20 weeks - but I was the last of my friends to have a baby, so I had A LOT of advice and help. I think you still have time!
We started one last weekend, mostly so we could start researching products and adding stuff as we think of it. We haven't told anyone about it yet though, nor has anyone asked.
I highly recommend when you do yours - that you make a list before you go! That saved us a lot of time and it still took hours! If I had no list, we would have been completely lost!
With my first, we registered the day of my a/s. I did a ton if research and brought a list of what I wanted and how many and stuff. I also brought my Baby Bargains with me.
Thanks ladies! I'm still in the research phase of things. This is my MIL first grandchild so I think she is anxious to buy stuff. I keep telling her cash is always good. Haha
I began mine about a week after we found out we were expecting, just because I like to plan and that was all I could do -- we weren't telling anyone. I've revised it quite a bit since, but at 19 weeks, it's mostly done.
ETA: I did ours completely online via Target and MyRegistry. No intention of going into the store.
I did mine a month ago, and I've been tweaking it (and buying stuff if it goes on super sale) as I go. I am using Amazon, so I didn't leave my house I also used Lucie's List to help me pick most of my items.
If you had a buy buy baby in your area you can schedule an appointment with a personal shopper. It's free and they walk you around the entire store explaining the differences between products, popular items and sometimes even personal experiences with certain products. Super helpful! We originally said no to it and then walked half way around the store and realized we had no idea what we were doing
We kinda did one under a fake name. We went to BRU just to play with the stuff and see what we would need for baby 2.0. But now we have family members asking if we registered so I'm probably going to do a small one.
@elsa1688 What is the completion coupon with a prime membership? Maybe I should register there!!
15% - I think you have to sign up for amazon mom as well but theres no fee if you are already a prime member. With the free 2 day shipping, I think it's the best deal.
Been working on mine for a couple weeks now. Mom wants it finished at the end of January so they can get invites to shower sent out a little early. I have a bunch on mine. I have been just putting everything I like and I will go back and take off some stuff when I'm finished
I've started one, but kept it private until just a week or two ago. I'm definitely not finished -- we're first-timers, so there's a lot of research/try-outs to be done on stuff like car seats, carriers, etc., and until I narrow down the nursery theme, I only have an idea of what kind of crib and other furniture I want. Don't even get me started on decor items.
Right now, all I have on there is some little stuff (books, a wipe warmer, the mobile, etc.) None of the big stuff is on there, because the one thing we settled on early (our stroller) we bought when we saw a great deal on it.
ETA: Right now, I only have a registry on Amazon, so I did everything on my lunch breaks at work. We're planning a trip in a week or two to BRU to finalize decisions on some items and do an additional registry there for the non-online shopping folks.

I wasn't sure what exactly to put on ours re: large items. We bought our crib already and have a travel system we are close to purchasing. I'm not planning a ton of nursery decor because it's a small space. My registery is mostly "essentials". Is that normal?
Hubby and I went to BRU a couple weeks ago while he was off work for a 5 day stretch. Since we are first timers we wanted to look at and touch things. I had done research prior to going so I had an idea but I wanted his input as well. Ours is mostly done, except that when we find out gender we will log on and remove the wrong gender items. Also we didn't add any clothing since that is seasonal and we still don't know gender.
I finally did mine because my sister kept bugging me to. She wanted to give me advice on what to put on it, so Amazon was a good choice, because you can ask people to be on your "advice team".
Related question: WHERE are you all registering? How many places? I like Amazon, and that's the only one I have right now because literally everything we want is in one place, & we won't have duplicates. But, it could be a pain for friends who want to buy something last minute, and don't have the time to ship it. I'm thinking Amazon & Target, but then how do you decide what goes on what registry?
I've been researching some things, especially big items, probably since 8-10 weeks (I've had 2 losses, otherwise I would've done it right away!) I have a few things added to my registry, but I plan to in-store register and finish everything as soon as I have my a/s.
I've registered at target, babies r us, and I'm debating on amazon.
I decide what goes on which registry by in store availability because I have people who don't shop online, and price.

Depends on what you need. If that's all you need, you shouldn't put big items on there just for the sake of doing it.
Knowing my family, his mom and my one aunt (who is like a second mom to me) are likely to want to splurge on us. So I'm guessimating the car seat and crib may be taken care of. (And if not, we can get it with the completion discount.) We have our stroller. The rest of it is all stuff under $50 (a lot under $25). Because we don't need a lot.
I put a lot on there that would be nice to have, but not needed, such as books and toys, because I think most people prefer buying that fun stuff to a pack of diapers or a wipe warmer.
I expect that a lot of what I don't get at my shower will end up not being bought by us either.

I'll be doing BRU and Target. I only have one thing on my target registry, which is a monitor we really wanted, so I may just tell people about the BRU one. I might make others just to get completion coupons!
I don't think there is any rush to have it done. As OPs have said have it done maybe a month before your shower. With DD I did mine around 18wks. I do have an amazon and babies r us one this time around, but it's only for the completion deals they have going; as I am not having a shower, nor do I expect anyone to buy us gifts/be looking at our registry.

I only registered at Amazon. It seemed silly to register at two places when they had everything. I figured last minute guests probably aren't going to track down your registry anyway.
Mine is mostly done but I always go back and tweak it. We are outfitting the nursery ourselves so all the stuff on my registry is mostly day-to-day baby stuff like bottles, baby bath tub, crib sheets, etc.
too early for me but most ladies seem really organized here, i felt like it was bd luck to do it so early i waited until closer to 30. and i agree with a list!
I started one at BRU, and this past week went back to check what I still needed. A number of items are discontinued, including the carseat. My shower is not until the last weekend in April, so our plan is to have it completed by the end of February, but have it mostly done before then. No one but MIL has asked.
I started mine a while ago, mostly to get a start on researching and have a place to keep track of what I decide I want. I haven't told anyone where yet. DH and I went to Target last Friday to add things to our registry, and we're planning on making a trip to BRU next Mon after the a/s to look at things and work on a registry there. (Also a FTM so I like to be able to see things in person) We're registering at BRU and Target, but since we live in such a rural area, and those stores are both 45 mins away or more (BRU is an hour, but the selection is better), we're also doing a basic registry of essentials at Walmart for anyone who doesn't want to make the drive or order online.
ETA it may be a work in progress for a while, but as long as its done by the time shower invites are sent out, I think you're good.
STM here. If I do register I probably won't register until April or so. If you have registered just make sure your items are still in stock come baby shower time. I have found things go out of stock or discontinued. This is my hesitation for registering now. And if I do have a shower (a friend has already offered) it will be small items since we still have the bigger items due to DS.

I have not started a registry more so I have any idea what to put on it when I do.
We were kind of waiting until after our AS this week.
Everytime I read a post about a registry or cribs or strollers or diapers I immediately feel overwhelmed. Like, by the way Celeste, you're having a baby, maybe you should prepare at some point?
Re: Baby registry ???
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
What is the completion coupon with a prime membership? Maybe I should register there!!
