High-Risk Pregnancy

Intro

Hello, my name is Jennifer.  I'm 22 weeks 1 day with my second child (my other is 13 years old).  My husband is 26, and we have been married for 3 years.  We also have a furbaby we adopted 4 years ago named Sadie (whom you'd never think had ever spent any of her life being a shelter dog).  On December 23rd, 2013, we went in for our 20 week US.  After being overjoyed to discover that we were having a girl, we were thrown for a loop when my OB came in the US room (he doesn't do this unless it's bad).  He pointed to a mass on the screen and told us that he didn't know what it was, but he knew it wasn't supposed to be there.  He referred me to an MFM at UAB.  Thankfully, we were able to be seen the next day.  At our MFM appt, we were told that our daughter has a sacrococcygeal teratoma, which is treatable but we are having to be monitored quite frequently to check the size of the teratoma.  We went back today for our second visit with the MFM.  While it has grown more than the doctor had hoped in the last 3 weeks, he is very happy with how she is handling it.  She's quite active, growing like she's supposed to, heart looks good, brain blood flow is good, etc.  We go back in ten days for a repeat US and possibly a fetal MRI.  He said today that he's pretty hopeful she will make it to 30 weeks, 34-35 weeks would be optimal, but we're just going to have to see how things go.  I am a nurse, which has it's benefits and it's downside.  I know what questions to ask and what to expect from things, but then sometimes that nurse mind goes into over-drive and worse case scenarios play.  Just wanted to say hello.
