Diaper Bags

I'm going to need a new diaper bag this time since the zipper crapped out on mine due to overuse. I had this one and liked it for the most part: https://www.amazon.com/Skip-Hop-Versa-Diaper-Black/dp/B0041RRZ1U

What are you ladies looking at (especially STMs)?

Re: Diaper Bags

  • I was looking in to the Vera Bradley baby backpack. I love the idea of a backpack vs purse type diaper bag

  • A Skip Hop that is pretty generic for both me and hubby to use, then a larger nice tote bag (for when I want to look presentable!) with the Skip Hop diaper changing station kept inside. This is coming from a FTM, however, who has no f-ing clue what she's doing!

  • I have a Petunia Pickle Bottom that is still in perfect shape so I'll be reusing that. Love it!

  • A friend recommended the backpack style but in South Texas I worry about it being hot and causing me to sweat when wearing it

  • I had the Vera Bradley diaper bag in navy twirly birds (so not overly girly) and loved it with my dd. it's still in great shape so going to use it this go around too!

  • We picked out the Skip Hop Duo Double (or something that sounds like this). I really liked the Petunia backpacks but felt that one that was large enough for two babies was super structured and large. I like that with the Skip Hop one the sides are soft so if it's not filled it seems smaller (and lighter weight) but almost expandable if we will need to fill it for the entire day outing. I really want a Boxy Backpack but not being able to wash it seems super impractical.
We are going to pick out a second, smaller bag to use as a secondary diaper bag if we are each out with the babies separately- considering the Skip Hop backpack style one but not definite yet.

  • I feel like I got an email about a a PPB outlet sale going on now?

I used the Kate Spade Stevie first time around. While on maternity leave I didn't mind lugging it around and it felt more stylish than the traditional diaper bag (I didn't care for bags with big patterns etc)

As DD got a little older and there seemed to be more "stuff" in the bag..food, bibs, toys etc..it just felt bulky and heavy. I've found that whenever I can, I like to leave it behind. I'm carrying a mid sized Longchamp bag as a purse right now and love it because I can shove diapers, wipes, and snacks in it and leave the diaper bag behind

  • I knew I wasn't going crazy...2 day sale

  • I got a Vera Bradley diaper bag as a shower gift when I had DD.
This time though I'm eyeing up the PPB backpack style diaper bags. I baby wore DD all the time and always wished I had a backpack style because it seemed like it would be easier to carry while baby wearing.

CUTE! yeah, i really don't want it to look like a diaper bag

edit: not digging that price though!

I second the kate spade bag! I have this one and it came with a changing table top pad

Wow that's nice! I love the colors!!

  • @TonyaCody06, it might be worth it to spend the money. It's much sturdier than than the average diaper bag, the sides and straps are thick. If you plan on having more babies you will get a lot of use out of it! I don't think DH will want to carry it around though.. hahaha
  • I am going to sew my own diaper bag.  I got the pattern on ebay a few years ago and made a couple bags for my sister.  Pretty simple but so many pieces to cut out...

Or maybe I will get lazy and just buy one...

  • I have two Kate Spade bags already, and absolutely love them! They've held up so well throughout the years, can't even tell how old they are. I want the Stevie bag, but need to go to an outlet center for it. Don't want to pay original price.

  • I'd live the Kate Spade Stevie, but I'll probably get a Timi and Leslie. Still a bit of a splurge for a diaper bag, but it looks nice.

This is my dream bag, but way too pricey at $350. It's the Durango by dapperbag.

I like this! It definitely looks big enough to carry double the baby stuff but isn't crazy big and bulky.

I was considering using the Swiss backpack we use for hikes as well. It has lots of pockets and storage and it seems like I'd be able to keep my hands free. But, it's also hot as hell here in the summer which I didn't consider and the purses it looks like you can drape easily over the stroller. Stuff to think about!

I'm not a fan if traditional diaper bags. With my first, I had a coach bag; my second, I had a Timi and Leslie, Charlie style. I'm not sure what I'm getting this time.
Edited to put style of bag

I'm getting the skip hop duo double deluxe because I'll be carrying around all the stuff for the twins plus stuff for DD and anything else DH feels like sticking in there . I always end up being a pack mule lol

  • never heard of Timi and Leslie! I'll have to look it up
  • I purchased the Kate Spade Serena baby bag before I was even trying to get pregnant. I saw it at the Kate Spade Outlet on clearance and couldn't resist. It's a messenger style bag which I liked so I could have my arms free. Here's the style of it:https://www.amazon.com/Spade-Classic-Basic-Serena-Messenger/dp/B009HFN984/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389723181&sr=8-2&keywords=kate+spade+baby+bags+serena

I got it in a black and white print though.
  • I want to get a Vera Bradley diaper bag. Not sure which style to go with yet.

Just wondering for those that have them already, which style do you have and would you recommend it??
  • Question for Timi and Leslie owners - some reviews I read say they have a synthetic leather smell that is not good. Have any of you experienced this?

    That's awesome!

  • I had a diaper bag and it was always falling off of my shoulder.  I have found that a diaper backpack is much more user friendly and you always have your hands free.  We use this one for our DS (same color backpack except it has a fishing lure on it instead of the alligator):

  • I had received a Vera Bradley diaper bag at my baby shower with my son, and I just plan to use it again. Luckily for me we were team green the first time around so the one we have is pretty neutral, only problem we had was my DH didn't like carrying it because he didn't really care for the funky looking prints.

I have the Charlie and never noticed a smell. I couldn't tell at all that it wasn't leather.

Does the Charlie have the shoulder (across body strap)? The video makes it sound like they all come with it.
  • I just bought a Ju Ju Be Be Prepared today. It's gigantic but I'm intending it for all day trips like the zoo or Disney. We'll still use our smaller diaper bag (a generic cheapie) for quick trips out. I like Ju Ju Be because you can machine wash the whole thing.

It has the shoulder strap that comes off and on. It has a handle too so it's higher under your arm (the bag type is escaping me right now). I used the shoulder strap if I wanted to throw it on the stroller and used the handle over my shoulder when I wanted to carry it.

  • I got a Vera Bradley backpack to use as a diaper bag. Since I've wanted a Vera backpack for a while I ended up getting a steal on one on sale and its large enough for everything and I plan on using it for myself once LO doesn't need a diaper bag anymore

  • I have 2 Kate spades (love the outlets!). One has a cross body strap and that is my primary bag thanks to the strap. I found the shorter "tote" straps to be annoying when the bag is full. I use it for travel now.
  • yeah i've become a fan of across body strap with hands full of kids!
  • I found this bag at the coach outlet, was only about $117, my mom is giving me that as an extra special baby shower gift for me.
