Well I came to but my 2cents in for ya and everyone has it covered. fwiw this is my 4th boy and I'm still getting peed on! So ur by no means fail mom it's the middle of the night, one eye open, ur cracked nipple is throbbing changes that get the messiest.
I have no idea how one avoids getting peed on by a boy! I remember my DH doing one of the first changes at home, DS started to pee, so rather then cover him up DH points it away from him- at me. Thanks for that.
I have yet to have an accident with a boy :knock on wood: What we do is put the fresh diaper underneath the dirty one, then undo the tabs of the dirty diaper, but before lifting the front of the diaper to wipe, wait a few seconds, since I think it's the cold air that makes them go. Then wipe as fast as possible, slip the dirty diaper out, and quickly put the front of the new diaper down to cover up again. This has worked for us so far (DS is now almost 3).
We had tons of incidents with the girls, but I think it's because they were exposed to the air for too long, if that makes sense?
Will see how it goes with this LO!
...clearly didn't actually read the original post...
Actually did read this post. I never once worried about which direction his penis was facing, and have yet to get peed on.
So do I have to say, it doesn't really matter if it's pointing down or not to pass your reading comprehension test?
LO never peed on me, although he's peed on himself which made me laugh (I'm a great Mom, ha).
But it sounds like you're actually leaving the diaper too loose. It's pretty hard to make a disposable too tight, I've noticed they tend to rip if you pull them too hard. Don't be scared to keep it on snugly because gaps will cause leaks. If that doesn't help go up a size.
And poop on the wall = motherhood. Welcome to the party.
Oh an as a side note one thing I have done in the past is instead of a pee per tee-p I make a cut in a breast pad about half way thru and turn it into a cone. Don't have to worry about washing and they are super absorbent !

Umm, when it comes to peeing out of diapers it does matter if the penis is pointing down. She's not talking about peeing during changes. She talking about peeing out of the fastened diaper. So you didn't read it.
thanks for posting this @veronicaann143 ! Expecting a boy myself, so definite advice help for me.
I have a question to all the ladies that said to try going up in size for the diapers:
(FTM ignorance here) but wouldn't that make the diaper more susceptible to leaks? I would think having a smaller/or to size diaper would keep it tighter?
Bigger diaper will have more absorbency. So if the issue is too much pee, then bigger diaper will help since bigger baby has bigger bladder and more pee.
And IME the "sizes" on disposable diapers are woefully inaccurate.
ETA - that's a lot of "biggers" in a penis post - hahahahahaha.

You saying again that I didn't read it is incredibly asinine. It has been my experience that obsessing over which direction the penis is facing DOES NOT MATTER FOR LEAKING. What does matter is how you put the diaper on, for which I made suggestions.
Your audacity is truly award worthy, congratulations!

But you didn't mention leaking at all? All you talked about is how to put on the diaper to avoid being sprayed, which isn't the issue that OP is currently having.
@veronicaann143 I need to know what is/isn't working- I need closure on the topic! A different brand? A different size? Both? Also, you cleaned poo off the walls.. DH got projectile pooped on yesterday in the nicu! Luckily it was his hand and the wipe, but we just started laughing!
We switched from NB luvs to NB pampers swaddlers. We had just stepped up to NB from preemie so I didn't want to go up again in size. He's 5lb 8oz...size 1 is a huge stretch lol.
Also making it tighter (though still freaks me out).
This has seemed to really help. Way less peeing through things.
On a side note...during a change today the washcloth or his penis moved and I almost got sprayed in the face. I saw it coming and moved my head at the last second. Truly a narrow miss.
On brand: the hospital uses pampers swaddlers and it never happened there so I'm sticking with pampers.
Re: Penis Help
My DS peed out of EVERY-SINGLE Huggies diaper.
Pampers and Target Up & Up, it was rare if he would pee out of them.
Also, if the diaper is too big or loose around the waist that can cause the pee to get out as well. GL
