Reading a Wondfo OPK

I have been trying to pay attention.  POAS this morning and there was a faint line.  But for ovulation it has to be PINK right? not just a faint line?

  • It has to be as dark or darker than the control line
this! I always got a pink line. When I was about to pop an egg, it would get VERY dark.
    Yep, this.

  • Also, pee a couple of times a day.  You could start your surge in the evening too.

Does this mean you've committed?!  ;)
@KellersPrag Ha. I was just going to write the same thing!

  • What the others said: as dark or darker than the control line.  Really watch your fluid intake prior to testing.  I found using FMU worked best, but I know they say not to use it.  I'm a total nerd and like watching the line get darker, so I save all my tests.

  • Okay, catching ovulation is a bit more difficult then you'd think.  With Wondfo's, the test line is ALWAYS pink.  It's not like a HPT.  There will always be 2 lines on an OPK.  The difference is the darkness of the test line.  Like others have said, the test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line.  Confusing? Yes.  But you'll know a positive OPK as soon as you see it. Also, OPKs tend to get darker and darker as ovulation is approaching. (So you should have an idea you're getting close.)

Also, with OPKs, you need to test several times a day.  2-3 to be exact.  If you test once/day, you could totally miss your window.  If you have any idea of when you ovulate (i.e. "around day 14-15") then starting at day 10-11 you'll want to start taking an OPK at 10am and 6pm (let's say).  Then, starting at around day 13, you may want to step it up to 3x/day (10am, 3pm & 8pm) or something similar. You'd test 3x per day until you get your positive test.  Once you get a +, you can technically stop testing (although some- like me- test until the OPK is no longer positive).

Good luck mama!  Charting along with OPKs is literally the best way to figure out when you O in your cycle (and obvi O-day can vary). You can also chart other symptoms you have that can be an indicator of Oing (CM, cramping, etc.)

  • Thanks for all the advice.  I'll just keep peeing on them.  I am CD14 so I really don't know when I O.  Last month i had CM for a few days around CD 17-19.

...this might throw some into a tizzy (it did for me)

My OB recently told me that in some people it never gets as dark or darker than the test line and that you can still O. If you are one of the rare people who are like this, then it's probably happening when the line is at it's darkest (even if that not as dark as the test line) in a given cycle.

I tested twice a day with my last cycle and it was only kinda close to being as dark as the test line...and then it was only for about 12 hours and I got KTFU....

But, that's just what my OB said...

Thanks and thanks!!  He does this a lot when he's cranky.  We call it baby yoga.  He'll stay like that for awhile until he calms down.  LOL.
