Trying to Get Pregnant

Are there any Swimmers?

Hello all, still a relative newbie. I was wondering if anyone out there is a swimmer? Would swimming affect TTC? Does it mess with CM? I swim 3-4 days a week. I coach swimming so though rarely, I get in the water with them too. I swim in the AM so my bbt time is 04:40 even on days off to keep consistent. I just feel like my CM is wonky compared to the other charts I've stalked. TIA

  • Loading the player...
  • @MusicFanatic that is EXACTLY where my head went...the response in my head went "I sure HOPE so!" Damn 2WW...

Seriously though, I'm sure it's fine--don't over-think this!. Swimming is healthy and great exercise, so I'm sure that's a good thing, especially compared to my non-existent exercise routine.

  • I'm sorry for the confusion especially for the 2WW Peeps.

  • OMG that is awesome! Might have to show that to my kids... threaten them with 50's of those if they aren't good! LOL

  • I thought this was going to be sperm related :)

I do swim, but not as much as you. I swim more frequently in the summer.  But the place where I sometimes work out has a pool I use in the winter. But I only swim maybe 4-5 times a month.  A quick google search from the majority of sites said it's fine to swim.
    Oh yeah me too!

  • @Joy2611 - Same here! I qualified for nationals but injured myself before I got to go anf compete. What made you stop swimming?

@nina&bill - I make a point to stay out of the water for an hour after they shock the pool, but that's pretty much it. And that isn't even so much TTC related as that much chlorine just bugs the heck out of my eyes!

Saw this while I was looking for something else.  Skills.
    oh my goodness!

I swam competitively for ten ears.  I was a butterflier.  This warms my heart.
I was a butterflier too! Not by choice. My high school coach saw my long torso, short legs, and broad shoulders, and decided that was what I was meant to be. I have to admit though, by the end of my college career, the 200 fly was my favorite event (as much as I hated it in the beginning).

And when it comes to TTC, as long as you aren't swimming too intensely (like training) I don't think it would be bad at all. When I asked my OB at my last appointment about working out, he said just don't train for a marathon or something like that. So there you go.

I've actually read swimming is good for pregnancy since it is so low impact, but that the jury is still out on how chlorine might affect you.

  • I didn't swim in college, it was a tiny college (800 students total) and only 10 girls in my class so not enough women in general! I was good when I was younger but when I got to HS I wanted to do more than swim, like volleyball and hang out with friends! LOL
