Awake? Insomniacs come in!

Tossing and turning. Hip pain and BH. Trying to build up the energy and motivation to get out of bed for food- I feel so hungry for the first time in awhile!

What are you doing?!

Re: Awake? Insomniacs come in!

  • Oh man. West coaster! :). Sorry about the remote. I've been reading twitter feeds about wardrobe junk from the golden globes. I have it recording so that I don't have to watch "The Price is Right" and soap operas for the first time in awhile, lol.

  • TLex, DH for the win! Way better than mine who is back from his trip but exhausted, snoring up a storm, and has bags of dirty hunting laundry.

Have you heard of "draw something?"
  • @peachlove25 - we used to play draw something all.the.time. I've given up lately, but he still "nudges" me!

Let's "Draw Something" in permanent marker all over his snoring self! Reminders to spoil his dear wife rotten, for a start.
I thought of that game too, can it be multiplayer and open to anyone?

Literally LOL. Permanent marker/camouflage face would be hilarious!!! Knowing my luck, I'll go into labor tonight and the hospital will go on lockdown because he will look like a freak.

I'm not really sure. I always select a random opponent so I don't feel like such a moron when my drawings look like a preschooler.

Can I just share that I was dead tired all day and dying to take a nap but did not with the hope that I'll fall asleep at night. But nope. I'm wide awake trying to fall asleep but strangely I am raging mad!! I'm just angry about stuff like my mom, DH and even people at work, people at eBay for not getting my order right. I know a lot of us are having fits of rages but seriously I'm just so mad that I want to yell at someone or go kick box it out as it's not letting me be peaceful and fall asleep argghhhh!!

PS: I'm also getting mad at some of the posts here on TB. No reason to even feel that way as honestly they are perfectly normal posts but I'm just like going crazy and itching to say something snarky just to piss someone off. Of course I have not done that yet or else you'd see it.
  • It is only 7:15pm here. I am watching sisterwives on tlc and laying on the sofa. I start an online class tomorrow that is 7wks and runs a week past my due date- my mind is slightly racing and overwhelmed!!
  • @hg45 you're an angry elf tonight!

How about some chocolate? Or some bees in honor of Zig? :bz :bz :bz

I'm still trying to think what I can go make to eat. :/.

Totally random... But I noticed today that my joints hurt. Elbows and wrists, etc. Weird. Anyone else?

Ohh you're brave! Most of my online classes let me look ahead/work head. Hopefully yours is this way! You got it!

I just looked at the work I have cut out for me! I think I will be ok once I get going. I have a paper due at the end of the course so I am thinking about a topic I wanna do and once I decide I an gonna knock this paper out!
  • @peachlove no joint pain but my nose is so dry it hurts to breathe. I'm so tired if spraying saline and Vaseline. Can't wait for winter to be gone!

Have you tried a humidifier?! I had the same thing. My nose was so dry and my lips were chapped. I felt awful until I took the new crane humidifier from LO's room and started running it at night! Huge sigh of relief!
  • i have not had braxton hicks at all yet. This may be a dumb question but how uncomfortable are they and do you seem to get then more at night when you are trying to sleep?

Yep have a pretty high quality humidifier running no difference. The issue is, I have a severely deviated septum so thats why it's an aggravated problem and just gotten worse due to pregnancy. Happens every winter and my only solution is surgery. I'll just cross that bridge at some point eventually. My fault for ignoring it all this while.

I've had them since 28 weeks and they've gotten progressively worse.

At first, I thought it was "cute" and that LO was just 'balling up' for about 30 seconds. Your whole belly will get really tight all over and that's the best analogy I could think to blame it on.

In the beginning, I noticed them a lot at night, but I think it's just because that's when I slowed down and laid still long enough to really feel them. They aren't painful persay, just uncomfortable and it feels like strong tightening.

Same here! If I have had them I didn't notice or thought it was something else.
I had some, but they were never at night. They feel like an overall tightening- and I'm told many ftms don't notice them! Mine didn't hurt, but some peoples do.
Like I said, mine were never at night, they were when I was doing stuff. Walking through target? BH telling me to walk slower. Stuff like that.

Also, hi guys! Pumping here. I'm a dairy cow.

Welcome, Zig. Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you and LO.

Be "that mom" and call the NICU whenever you need to! My nephew weighed 2lb 13oz and was in for many weeks. My sister hounded them- you're entitled! :).

Diary Cow it up- sister! Did you and Hashtag have hospitals near one another?!
  • It's 4 PM here, about to take DS1 to the pool, I just want to curl up and sleep, though. blah.

  • @applejacks3232. Where do you live again?!? I'd love some pool weather!
  • @peachlove25 don't worry, I do call all I want! I'm sure they're annoyed with me but I don't care.
We actually delivered at the same hospital! We weren't going to but I was taken to a different one with my MFM group, where my regular ob doesn't practice. Djtippietoes was there too! I tried to visit dj but she was in regular L&D and I was taken to my room in high-risk perinatal. I didn't have access to L&D.

  • Whoa, Zig! Small world with three of you at the same place!

AND ivedonethisb4's baby is right across the street! At the same children's hospital where ziglet will have his surgery. She was going to deliver at our hospital but they didn't have time to transfer her. It really is a small world!

I'm going to AW my pumping(over 2oz total!) and go back to sleep. I'll be back around 3:30, I'm sure someone will be around!

FWIW when I worked in NICU nobody ever complained/talked about parents who called all the time...we encouraged the parents to call anytime they wanted to and loved to see parents so involved in their child's care. No parent should ever feel like they are calling too much.

  • It's 10:40 here and I'm in bed fighting the urge to clean my freezer. I have be up in a little over 6 hours but wide awake! Ugh!

Awesome job pumping Ziggy! I pumped nonstop w DD do I feel you on the dairy cow sitch.
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

    Mom to Lily and Colin!
  • A friend of mine had her baby at 26wjs at 1.3lbs- she was calling NICU or at NICU all the time. When i visited it was so amazing seeing the close relationship between the nurses and her/her hubby and baby. NICU is such a family.
  • I'm in Guam, Ziggy is correct!  It's nice, but it gets monotonous after awhile.  4 years here now and we're leaving as soon as the baby is 6 weeks old, crazy as it sounds, I hope it's still cold when we get to the States to visit family!!

  • Anyone still awake?

Embarrassing moment confession time: I woke up with different pain than I'm used to. BH pain isn't anything compared to this! I tried everything, different positions, stretches, movements...nothing seemed to help. I decided, this is it. I'm in labor. Wow! I am actually going to have this baby! I headed to the toilet to pee, and as soon as I sat down ... I let out the loudest, longest, most disgusting fart I've EVER heard! My pain was gas. Not normal gas, gross, HUGE amounts of gas that woke up my H. But, still just gas! (And now I'm worried if I can't handle gas pain, how am I ever going to handle labor!?!?!?)
  • Hi nightowls! Lying in bed, not even a little bit tired, Does anyone else feel like their body is just falling apart? For the past few days my right hip/pelvis has been killing me so I can barely walk, sit down or move. Yesterday I finally started to feel better, but it came back with a vengeance today. So I spent the day dealing with back/pelvis pain, scary BH, carpal tunnel, a sick DH, and repeatedly biting my @$*! tongue (not figuratively).

Sorry for the vent.  Super crappy, pain filled day today, and I just needed to let loose. Hope you guys are feeling ok.
  • I'm up too. This is getting really old. I guilted the H into having sex with me thinking it might help me sleep, but it has backfired. Now I just feel the urge to pee even more... Is there anything good on tv?
  • @Scaredofcats I usually stick with the discovery ID channel n the middle of the night

  • I am up and it's 2:45 am. My hips hurt and I can't get comfortable. My H is snoring and I am hoping I can fall back asleep before my alarm goes off for work. Great job pumping Ziggy.

I'm up now. 3:45 am. DS got up around 12 and was hungry. DHgave hi milk which of course soured on his sick tummy and he puked. I'm now down on the couch and he and DH are in our bed. This is not good. Puke for him = flu or strep. He had a flu shot but there is a strain going around here not covered by the shot. Ugh... Just waiting for pedi to open :-(

Oh good. Then the nurses love me! I'm trying not to call *too* much, but I definitely can't sleep without checking on him first. So it's a couple times a night.

@cbear47 hey, gas pains suck! I remember before I knew I was lactose intolerant, the gas pains would wake me up and keep me up for hours!

@abern8 sorry you had a crappy day. :(

  • @applejacks3232 thanks for the suggestion. I guess I have to get out of bed and go check it out now. Great excuse for snacking :)
  • @slwprincess sorry DS is sick! Hopefully it's just a bug, even though that's unlike him.

    Lilypie Premature Baby tickers
  • @abern8- you are probably "dropping!" I guess just continue to try and stay positive!

@scaredofcats- =D> I haven't even thought about trying to have sex since Christmas! I just feel the least sexy I've ever felt!

@reneej918- I hope you can find some relief! Have you tried turning your bed into a "recliner?" Pillows propped up behind your neck/head AND under your knees. It's the only thing that gives me relief. And when I turn to the side I still have my snoogle!

@slwprincess- I hope it was just indigestion and not the flu. Sorry you're stuck on the couch.

@ziggy903- you're a rock star! Keep up the hard work pumping for your little man! Have you heard anything about if he will come home before surgery, or have that done as soon as he's out of the NICU?
  • I'm up!! It's 1am in Vegas. Just got outta the shower and sooo not sleepy. I think it's cause im just feeling a bit off. Can't really pin point it, just lots of pressure from the baby and of course the achey hips/pelvis. I'm bored and don't feel like watching TV cause that's pretty much all I did today.

Oh, and I just realized I haven't washed my hair since Friday morning and it looks pretty nasty. My hair is the type to look oily and dirty within one day so when I'm not on bed rest, I HAVE to wash it everyday if I don't wanna look like a mess.

Hope you ladies get to sleep fast! FX!

Don't freak out, but that's how most labor stories start out! "I felt off and achy. I couldn't sleep and decided to take a shower. Felt a lot if pressure...

If you start contractions... Time them!!!

@cbear47 it's something they'll decide later, when he's close to being released. I don't know what I want either... With where the bladder is and where it needs to be, they have to have the urologist and an orthopedic surgeon there because they have to break/move his pelvis to put the bladder where it needs to be. He'll be in the hospital for a few weeks then and have pants made of cast for awhile.
I would love to have him home in between, but I think that would make it even more difficult when he has to go back. You know? Like it might be easier on me, emotionally, for him to just go from one hospital to another and not know what it's like to have him at home.
ETA: but if I were a betting person, id say he may come home. When they do the surgery has a lot to do with size, and he was small for gestational age, almost iugr at birth. (iugr is less than 10th percentile. He measured 11th the day of the c/s)
