AW: My DD is a genius who can read

So we have the Sandra Boynton book "Blue Hat, Green Hat" where the turkey keeps putting each item of clothing on wrong (shoes on the head, etc.)

Instead of saying "oops" like the book reads, we always say "uh-oh!" because DD can say that word.  Well, now she says "UH-OH!" when you get to the turkey on the page.  It is hilarious.  Cracks me up every time.

(FYI, as a reading teacher, I know this isn't really reading.)

Who else's LO is "reading" favorite books already?

  • So cute! Today my son sat down with a book and was babbling and then turned the page and babbled some more. It was really cute.

  • That's cute!!!  I think DS is a genius because when we're doing his counting puzzle, he refuses to say one but will repeat two and three so I tell everyone he can count to three!

  • DD loves "Are you a Cow" by Sandra Boynton. As you read it and ask her if she is each of the animals she says Nooooo and shakes her had then laughs. It is so adorable!

  • B turns to the pages of her favorite nursery rhymes in a board book we have. She'll go to the last page and say "row row" which is of course, Row row row your boat. She's brilz! :)

  • We read Pete the Cat, and he starts dancing before we get to "I love my white shoes." So he can totally tell the future. He's a regular Miss Cleo!

  • Charlie hates when I read to her, but will sit and look through books for a while by herself. If she sees an animal or something she knows, she will make the sound or say what it is. She's more in to puzzles and dolls than books though.

  • Hop on pop. When we get to the "no, pat, no, don't sit on that!" He says no,no, and when we get to the hop on pop page he says "hop pop!"

  • In Sandra Boynton's Perfect Piggies, it ends with the words "piggledy bop." And when we get to piggledy, DS says Bop! It's pretty cute. He also does his big eyes-closed smile when we get to the page about lovely smiles, even before we read any words.

Cute! Caroline points out objects in her books, especially animals, and says what they are/sounds they make. I just got home from work and learned she can count to 10!! Mostly with cueing, like we say one, she says two, then we say three, ect but then she evidently can be consist because I heard her say "eight, nine, ten"..I have no idea where that came from! DH was like "did you know she can count to 10" and I thought he was crazy

    Edit: dang autocorrect
