Just wondering...as a FTM I feel like I have so much to do but don't even know where to start. Looking for ideas on how to use this weekend productively. So what are you up to?
I have to rearrange my whole house to make room, so this weekend I plan on getting started on packing up my sewing room and also going through my closet to donate all of the clothes I never wear so I can have more storage room.
We're about to get started organizing our closets. We have our clothes in the babies rooms too, so I need to pack my clothes that don't/won't fit anymore so I can move clothes over. Then hubby's moving the futon out of one room and that should take care of one out of two of the rooms!
I also have paint chips taped to the walls to stare at all day in the different lighting, and then this afternoon we're picking up the cribs.
With a new house ww are aiming at starting the nursery in February. DH has a list that needs to be completed downstairs before we can start upstairs. This weekend he is finishing the laundry room (hanging wainscoting and cabinets) and I will be organizing 2 closets (downstairs coat closet and guest bedroom closet). We are taking it slow because of all the extra painting and decorating that need to be finished before the nursery, because once baby gets here nothing will get done.
I ordered fabric samples from 2 stores, so I can order bedding in a few weeks. I'm also having someone come by who is buying a pull-out sofa from us. Once they get it out of here, I'm gonna start taping the room off to paint. I'm so excited! I may not paint until tomorrow though. I'm also going to buy some decor stuff from etsy today.
Continuing work on the rag rug I'm making. Will also tape the nursery for painting. Really need to go maternity clothes/undergarment shopping too...dreading that!
It's football day!! And so is tomorrow-but today is the best day. Soooo that and maybe cleaning up the house? Maybe. Idk, I've been looking at furniture and decor online for the nursery, but it just seems so early. Maybe once I feel baby moving I'll get moving.
I set up our new BOB stroller (thank you to the ladies that posted that 40% off Amazon deal. I love you!), spent a little time on our registry (so many product guides to read if you're a FTM) and after lunch and a walk I'm going to toss a bunch of crap out.
We're turning my office into a nursery, so I have a lot of papers to purge/reorganize, and furniture to rearrange/paint/etc. His office is becoming a family room, so we'll tackle that mini-reno after the nursery is done.
Eating fruit until u got a nasty gram from my dr saying I still have ketones in my urine. Wtf. I ate a gigantic strawberry cake with cheese cake in the middle before going out to eat at Johnny Carinos and eating a whole loaf of bread plus all my pasta oh and my chocolate shake BF brought home for me. But no my body thinks its starving!! So I have to eat more, don't know how I can do that. More carbs. All I do is eat carbs 24/7. So today I shall eat until I gain 16 lbs... Lol. I'm still in my pjs and don't think I'm getting out of them today. Home alone as bf is working. Maybe laundry and a nap.
Last night we got a dresser/changing table for the nursery on craigslist. Solid wood, sturdy, only $40! Looked all week and finally got a deal! Now that we have a dresser, I can start shopping for a matching crib.
Today DH is going to start moving his stuff out of the nursery and I am going to rearrange the other rooms so we have room for his stuff. Also going to shop for a rug and fabric and a nursery chair. And also need to sew some curtains for our room, but that's not baby related...
I'm working all weekend so I'm just flipping through the baby name book and also filling out my pre-registration for the hospital. Oh, and signing up for childbirth class.
Our house is in the middle of a remodel (staying with the in-laws) so not much I can do to nest and it's driving me insane. So instead I am finishing my registry and starting the baby shower guest list while DH is out working on the house.
Lots of baby things. First, babies r us to start getting an idea of what we want for registry stuff.... then Home Depot, to buy the paint amd other assorted items to get that room in shape (we need a new ceiling fan, blinds, and closet door *eye roll*).
I'm excited to have somewhere to direct my anxiety, finally! I was waiting until after Christmas to get going.
We ran errands this morning, so now I'm eating (small lunch and giant dessert, mostly Lindt balls). C is napping, so I should really go and lie down before I miss my opportunity. This afternoon I might try to get some cleaning done around the house. Can't do much work on baby stuff until we finish C's room upstairs and find out whether Charlie is a boy or a girl on Wednesday!
Resting since I spent last night line dancing and square dancing. So much fun, but my feet are killing me. Plus, I don't want to start anything until we know if our little june bug is a boy or girl. Then, I can start on nursery projects. 10 days and counting.
I have so much laundry to do this weekend! Id like to organize everything and get rid of some things so we have more room. I'm really not sure what to do to get ready for this baby because we will be moving a few months after the baby is born. The baby will be sleeping In our room for awhile anyway so idk if its even worth it to make room in DS's room for a crib.
DH installed a new thermostat for the house this afternoon. Will make it easier to regulate house temperature. We started our BRB registry online too. Now it's time for football!
Made a tentative budget for the year and maternity leave. Going to take a well deserved nap now so I can make it through a late dinner downtown. Happy Saturday everyone!
Not working on baby stuff specifically, but DH is helping me with the January Cure from ApartmentTherapy.com. (Anyone who needs help getting organized should DEF check it out!)
This weekend's assignment is to clean all kitchen surfaces (including in fridge, cabinets, etc.), get rid of any items, reorganize, etc. Part 2 is to buy flowers and cook yourself a delicious meal.
My apt is so disorganized that this is completely necessary to our sanity, since I know we absolutely won't be able to do anything like this for a while after LO is born.
I've been shocked at our productivity this weekend. We rearranged our entire bedroom making room for the office stuff that was being housed in what is now the nursery. We hung bookshelves to make a library gallery wall in the nursery and went through all his clothes and organized them by size. Hung up all the newborn-3 months and crated and labeled 6-9 months and 9-12 months. Next up - we have a solar system mobile that is huge and we are going to mount it to the ceiling. But I think I might need a nap first :-) I'm almost 1/2 way through my pregnancy and I want everything done before I get too big and uncomfortable to do it.

LOVE Russell!
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
