It is Friday, right?? Where are all of the FFFC??

Re: It is Friday, right?? Where are all of the FFFC??

  • DH went out of town overnight for work. I'd planned to clean the house and catch up on my own work, but I stayed up till 2 a.m. watching vlogs on YouTube instead. DH came home to a cluttered house, crumb-covered carpet, overflowing laundry baskets, and a sinkful of dirty dishes.

I feel guilty about it, but I'm sitting here flipping between TB and FB so it's obviously not tearing me up too much.

  • I parked in the "new or expectant mother" parking at the grocery store the other day. I have always felt that these should be reserved for people who are VERY pregnant or have babies but it was freezing and I only needed two things.
DH and I went to both Target and Buy Buy Baby one day, and he pulled right in to the Expectant Mothers spot at both. He was more than happy to take advantage of me in the 12 degree weather we had that day.

I cannot stand kids who have more electronics than I do. We can call it jealousy, but really... WTF. My brothers (12) have a laptop, each, have gone through multiple GameBoys, each, have iPods, each, and got a pre-ordered PS4 for Christmas, and then mom told me they also got cell phones for Christmas. Oh, and then they wonder why they can't pry the somewhat antisocial one off of his laptop in his free time /:)
I completely agree! My sister's kids have many of these, but they are also involved in other activities: dance, band, bowling, etc. I think 5 of my 6 nieces/nephews have a version of the iPad (the oldest has a nice laptop but he's HS-aged), some have had iPods, most have some video game system. One the HS one has a cell phone, and it least it's phone/text only. I know these kids have grown up not knowing life without technology, and I want our kids to certainly know how to use these things, but in due time!

We had an Atari system as kids, that's it. I got a pager when I was 20 (I paid for it), I bought myself a Game Boy Color in my 20's (after I bought my 4yo nephew one!), got my first cell phone at 22, got my first iPod at 30, got my first laptop at 30 and am on my 2nd one (my 15yo nephew is on his 2nd one as well), got my first smart phone at 32, I got a Nook at 33, I've never had a tablet (will when my Nook dies), and I'm totally fine with all of it. I get by just fine.

I'm totally getting flamed for this but I need to rant. My friend was 39w pregnant and her MIDWIFE suggested an induction only b/c she "hadn't gone on her own" yet. This is a friend who's been asking me tons of questions and for my advice throughout her own pregnancy. I would've been her doula had she not been out of state. She went ahead with the induction for whatever reason (stopped talking to me after making that decision). 36+ hours later finally a baby picture is posted. Looks like a c/s but not sure. Baby is very small for such large people (5lbs 10oz) but I know she had BP issues though it was well controlled. Also, in the picture, an oxygen mask... I just don't understand why anyone would consent to an induction, especially someone wanting a NUCB, at 39w without medical cause. And what kind of midwife suggests it!!!! So my (FF)FC is I'm totally judging at this point but keeping my mouth shut and sending her love and well wishes. More I'm judging the midwife than anything. If she hadn't brought it up it wouldn't have happened kwim?

I was thinking the same thing about a friend today. She is only two days past her due date and her midwife offered to induce her tomorrow morning, citing that "at this rate you could have to be induced a week from now," so why not do it sooner than later. I was just surprised, and hoping it doesn't end in a failed induction section for her sake.

Not sure if my friend had a c/s or not but just heard from her that baby is in the "special nursery" on O2 & glucose IV but she says all is "great"... *head meets desk... Repeatedly*

Oops, I forgot their PS2 and the Wii, as well as their "gaming" tv.

I got a cell phone at 12, because I had a job, on a farm, and the day wasn't over until the work was finished, so I had to call for my ride. I got a desktop in HS, a laptop in College. Between DH and I, we have an overused PS3, a laptop, a desktop, our cell phones, and DH's tablet.

My one sister, whose a college freshman and has never had a real job, got a cell phone at 12 because she wanted one. My other sister, whose freshly 16, got a cell phone at 12 because she kept getting forgotten! At school, at practice, at clubs, you name it, that poor kid got forgotten at it. And she's the gem. Sweet, smart, easy to get along with, and such a caregiver. If I could adopt her I would.

  • I think today's FFFC was a little too tame. (Especially compared to Aug14's) Now that we have a FB group I wouldn't mind if a couple crazies showed up here on TB for entertainment value. :-)
I am totally lurking on the Aug. 14 thread!  Wow...
  • That is the best side eye I've ever gotten! I will take it proudly!
  • @kitchencolors I have not. Perhaps if it crosses my path I will give it a go
  • Yikes- I'm a little late in posting tonight, but my confession:
I had purchased a Groupon for a Brazilian wax DAYS before I found out I was pregnant. I was too big of a chicken to go, and it was going to expire last Wednesday. I felt guilty spending the money and not using it, so I mentioned it to my husband. He jokingly (?) said something along the lines of "Well, it's not like you let me see it anymore anyways".
My wife guilt got the better of me, so I made a same day appointment and got it done. It hurt like hell, and I had a reaction to it (first time ever reacting like that to wax!)
I totally blame him and don't want to let him see (and definitely not touch!) me for a while now to teach him a lesson.

  • I'm late to the party and I'll admit I haven't read all 4 pages yet, but here's my confession:

I have a friend on FB (acquaintance, really) who drives me insane for a variety of reasons. A few months ago I was about to unfriend her/them (it's one of those stupid joint couple's facebook accounts), or at least hide it from my newsfeed...

But then she had her baby in November, and now I keep her around because the pictures of her baby crack me up. Seriously, I wish I could share some of them, but that would really make me an awful person.  In every single picture she has such a grumpy/angry expression, it's comical. I feel like a terrible person every time I laugh at the baby. She's actually very cute in the one picture I've seen her smiling, but most of the faces she makes are hilarious! So now I tolerate the mom's craziness and TMI and horrible grammar just so I can enjoy a good laugh at her baby on a daily basis.
Hahaha this made me laugh so hard. My Director at work has a crazy friend like that on her FB, and she constantly texts me photos of the little girl. She's only like 2, so I'm sure we're both going to Hell for laughing at her, but the parents choose to post the WORST photos of her! She always looks like a wreck. Hair not combed, clothes all wrinkled, eyes half closed, etc. We just can't stop!

    My last minute FFFC:

I have spent a LOT of time in the hospital between my three pregnancies and even outside them. I have a had MANY frustrations and 9 times out of 10 am very good at keeping them to myself and not making a huge deal out of things. I understand that hospitals and medical professionals have protocols to follow, but I constantly want to just scream at these people and put my own damn IV in, walk my own ass down to u/s, get my own freakin' results, diagnose myself, etc... I suppose my confession is that after so many crappy experiences I now find myself feeling much more intelligent and superior than most of the staff I deal with. I become frustrated and impatient with hospital personnel VERY quickly now.

I probably don't know a damn thing, though. So it's a good thing I never actually speak up -.-

My confession: I haven't had a Facebook for almost 6 months and I am super tempted to make a new one just so I can be in the cool kids group! I had a Facebook but have crazy ex inlaws and they were stalking me and starting so much shit I just deleted it.

Second confession: I still have not fully announced my pregnancy even though it's very obvious and have no desire to tell anyone besides the people who already know. And secretly laugh when people say oh I thought you would have announced it on fb. Hey dumb f&@$, I haven't had fb for six months and you still haven't noticed. Hence why I could give two shits less about you knowing im pregnant. And no I won't be finding out what it is because it's "driving you crazy not knowing" what the sex of my baby is.

Third confession: after writing all of this, I am finding I think I need new friends :-/

Edit: to fix a missed sentence to actually make sense!

I'm trying to decide if I want to get a Brazilian or an extended bikini wax before I deliver. DH would love it for one and then I'd also not be at risk of embarrassing myself in front of the anesthesiologist if I need an epidural (unlike last time when I apologized about butt hair--but hey, I was drugged up on Stadol). I'm just concerned about having a reaction; last time I waxed, I was 6 weeks and got a reaction on my upper lip. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like between my cheeks. Eck.

  • I have one more!!

This is baby number 5 for me. I can not stand it when someone asks " haven't you figured out what causes that?"

Yes you dumb f$&@, I have. What I haven't figured out is your stupidity in asking this question or if you would like details of how it happens!
  • @ho11day - part of me wants to do it a few more times because I would be the same way about apologizing on the table! But now I'm even more scared! Oh, the decisions we ladies have to make…

I've never been to Trader Joe's. I think I'm missing out....
We got a Trader Joe's here a couple years ago.  Before then I had heard people mention the store as a totally awesome place but without any details.  My brain switched Trader Joe with Trader Vic so I was expecting something like a tiki bar.  It was quite the letdown when I went to have a gander and realized it's just a grocery store.
