Another EA Miracle (warning--birth announcement)--LONG

Little baby Caleb is here!

I went in Wednesday for my induction. We arrived at 5:00 AM. I had gotten absolutely no sleep Tuesday night because I was so congested and couldn't breathe well, so that made it a bit tough from the get-go. I started antibiotics about 5:30 AM due to being GBS+. About 7:30, they started pitocin and an hour later, my doctor came in a broke my water. I wasn't feeling much of anything at this point, but within 20 min the contractions started coming every 2-3 min and were getting very intense. I have every intention of trying for a pain-med free birth. We were having difficulty keeping Caleb on the monitors so they had to put in an internal monitor not only for his heartrate, but also for the contractions because they weren't always reading correctly either. This made getting out of bed nearly impossible. After 4 hours, the contractions were now back to back and I was getting no break in between (I was up to 5 CM dilated at this point). I was already exhausted from not sleeping and knew that I fought through another 4-5 hours, I would never have the energy to push. I decided it was time to get the epidural. It wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated--I was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was. I expected much worse. This gave me the opportunity to rest and try to get some sleep. I still didn't sleep well because of the congestion, but at least could get some kind of rest. Unfortunately, I was laying on my left side (it helps me breathe better) and the epidural all pooled on that side so after a few hours, I was feeling everything on the right and waited too long to turn over and balance it out. The pain in my right hip was absolutely excruciating and I started having difficulty getting through the contractions. At this point, I start pushing which was so tough because I couldn't feel any pressure to know if I was doing it right. After 2 hours of pushing, I was exhausted and once again, had back-back contractions and getting no rest. He hadn't budged one inch. My doctor said she could let me push for another hour, but was concerned with the lack of progress. I decided to go ahead and do the c-section. 2 things that I was so adamantly against, and so fearful of, I ended up consenting to without much hesitation. In that moment, my instincts just took over and I knew I was making the correct decision.

At 7:53 PM, Caleb Cameron was brought into the world, screaming before they got him out, and peeing all over respiratory for a very long time (everyone got a big chuckle over how long he was peeing!) He weighed 9lbs, 4 oz, which is about 2 pounds more that we expected him to be. Seeing how big he was, it makes more sense why he couldn't come out. He was sunny side up, and I have fairly narrow hips (along with a retroverted hip which he just couldn't move past). C-section was definitely the right decision.

My recovery is going well, I am able to move pretty well already. We are really struggling with the breastfeeding as I am very swollen and getting zero supply right now. It is frustrating that we are having to supplement, but I am still hopeful that we can get some supply going within the next few weeks.

He is absolutely beautiful, calm, happy, and the most amazing gift ever. I still can't believe he is ours.

This group has been a life saver for me going through this process and I am so happy for everyone who recently got their BFP and pray every day for everyone still waiting. I truly never thought we would actually have this little guy.

We also made some progress with the breast feeding so that was an amazing hurdle to get across. We still have a long way to go, but I am far more optimistic that I was a few days ago.

  • I'm so glad to hear that things are falling into place. Congratulations
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.
