FFFC?

Re: FFFC?

  • I totally fudge Maddy's sleep when daycare asks me each morning... They always say, how was she, sleeping through the night yet? And because I feel like it's a judgment of my parenting, I say no, but getting better and usually only up once these days! This is a gross overstatement. We have only gotten up once a total of two times. ever.

i'm totally the opposite! When they ask me every morning how she's sleeping, I'm completely honest and tell them "she slept like shit...and woke herself up pooping again twice". I figure if they know how she's actually sleeping, they'll try harder at getting her to take a nap (not that it ever works, but all I can ask is that they try).

I used to do that- but she consistently just takes her 3 30 min naps and is happy all day for them, so now I have decided to take credit for her good mood by pretending she is improving at night... And she is... Some nights ;)

  • Screaming to me is babies getting shots screaming. Babies tired is crying to me or fussing. Jack is happy go lucky and does cry but never to the point of screaming. All of these stories make me afraid to have another kid.

J isn't much of a screamer either but I've heard it from him... because we bought CRAP diapers and he's peed out of them at least 3 times this week in MOTN. We change him before we feed him and THAT's when we hear it.  GOOD GOD, it's a nightmare! but it only lasts for as long as it takes for us to change him.... a minute maybe?

I'm not going to judge though... I know that I've exaggerated things trying to make things sound more dramatic than they were. "J screamed when I put him in his bouncer" or "J ate 20 ounces MOTN" I also know that I don't come across the best on the interwebz sometimes.

Maybe that should be my FFFC #2: I hate flaming people over the web cuz I don't know their life!

Emmett full-on choked on paper this week and it was totally my fault. My DH told me to not let him play with paper since he tries to chew on it. Well, I didnt listen and let him play with an envelope while I was folding report cards. Next thing i know, I hear him choking. I swept my finger in his mouth and could feel a ball of paper in his throat, just out of reach. I turned him over and starting smacking his back!! I think he ended up swallowing the paper because I never saw it come out.

I have never felt so horrible. I guess I'll listen to my DH nex time... :-(

@Oohgurl - S only fusses/cries at night. Other than that, she screams...she doesn't cry if she's hungry, dirty or wants attention, she screams. If she's crying and it's not at night, I panic.
And it takes more than a couple of minutes to soothe or fix the problem?
uh...no. the minute I pick her up she stops ;) her screaming i think is equal to your crying/fussing.

  • LO screams for fun. Like high pitched, top of her lungs, blood curdling scream...then I look at her and she smiles. I've been trying not to acknowledge it because she does it out in public and I'm sure people think she's in some kind of agony because they don't see her in the stroller smiling.

Also, I lie to people all the time about how many times LO wakes up in the night if I think they are just being nosy/judgy. I would always say "once or twice" when it was like 5 times. When she was waking up 2 or 3 times, I said "just once!" and now that she is sometimes only getting up once I say "she is finally STTN! I'm so happy!"  bahaha.

In our car we have a convertible car seat.  I had to pee so bad after picking her up from daycare, I pulled her out of her seat, ran to the bathroom, and peed with her sitting on my lap.
I have done that twice and I looked at DS just thinking to myself, "Sorry!"
  • Oh we had our share of "why is he screaming, I have tried everything!!!11!1!!!" When he was a newborn.
Jake has learned to scream/cry when he doesn't get what he wants. If I put him down to go to the bathroom, if he throws his toy and I don't pick it up. He's throws quite the little temper tantrum. But you are right, now that he's not a newborn he'll calm right down. When he screams in his crib it stops literally the second I pick him up. Stinker.

  • Jack screams for fun too, more like screeching. Yes I think my definition of screaming is different than others. To me, a screaming baby for 30 minutes would be working their way up to hyperventilation.

  • E will scream like she is getting shots when I put her in her crib. She won't stop until I pick her up.

I'm pretty sure MLK day is not a holiday for LO's daycare, but it is here at work. I am SO. EXCITED. to have a day to myself (and knowing she's in good hands, so I don't have to worry at all). She's so going to daycare that day.

I'm doing the same and DH is encouraging it. I'm having lunch with a friend and taking a nap. Let the countdown to MLK begin!

Crap I have another confession. Tomorrow is DH's birthday and I completely forgot until just now. I already have his gifts purchased, but don't have a card or a cake or plans or wrapping for his gifts. Guess I'll be sneaking out of work a little early and making a detour. Now in addition to MOTY I'm Wife of the year.
DH's birthday is today and I don't have a card. I do have a cake but unless REI has something awesome, he is getting a pair of khakis that he helped pick out as his gift. I will share your WOTY trophy. And your sneaking out early-ness.
People should just never be born in January. It's not fair to them, it's not fair to us.
I think December birthdays are worse then January especially the middle to end of December but the again I am January baby. Here in Ontario it is nice to have a January baby then they are oldest in class and over 4 1/2 when starting school as opposed to December babies who start school at 3

Jake does do the screaming to almost hyperventilating for DH sometimes when he puts him down for naps. DH could/would never let him go 30 min straight but he still gets pretty wound sometimes. And the one time he had to put him to bed when I was doing conferences at work. I came home and he was hyperventilating screaming. DH was rocking him during it though. That's when I learned I will be the only one able to do bedtime for a while.

I'm so pissed at her for involving her granddaughter in this and I won't be at all upset of this feud lasts forever.I kind of hope it does. Sayonara bitch.

    That is terrible (of her)

I think there's screaming because they want something (diaper changed, toy they can't reach, etc) and then there's "screaming" like what you're imagining. On a "normal" day S screams, but if we try to put her down for a nap and she won't have it, she SCREAMS. What I'm imagining is a baby doing more than just screaming because they want something...I don't know if that makes any sense.

Yes the screaming I am imagining would not entail a baby instantly calming down if picked up. More like getting shots. Although Jack doesn't scream for those either, it is worse, he opens his mouth and shakes his head and can't get the scream out so he remains there silent with his mouth open like he is screaming with tears. I fucking hate it. I can't imagine someone letting their baby scream for 30 minutes because they don't feel like dealing with it.

LOL. I smiled at the mom of the baby that was being abused and said "I'm sure it's just a phase." This was after she invited us over on Monday.
meh, I think if a mom is in a mom's group, they can expect their kid to be somewhat abused. S gets her head grabbed and her hair pulled and who knows what else at school, and I think it just one of those things that are gonna happen when babies are together. I think as long as they are told that hitting/hair pulling/etc isn't "right" and stuff it's okay...but that might just be me.
