FFFC?

Anyone? I've been wearing two pairs of nursing pads the past couple of days. Not because I leak, but because my post-pumping nipples looks more like pinky fingers and I'm worried my co-workers are going to start calling me Nips behind my back.

Re: FFFC?

  • @beaubecca sorry about your LO!

Mine is that today is our 5th wedding anniversary and DH and I made plans to go away for the weekend. R got sick on Monday with RSV but seems a lot better now. I know he still has the sniffles but we're still going away. I need a break from him and the dogs. I haven't had longer than a 4 hour stretch of sleep in 7.5 months. I know most moms are heartbroken to leave their baby for the first time but I can't leave fast enough. I've been up since 430 because R went to bed early last night and was ready to play/get his nose sucked out then. Our overweight springer thought she could clear the ottoman...news flash, she can't. She spilled my most craved large cup of coffee everywhere so I had to hose her down, break out the carpet cleaner vacuum, and it was my last k cup of the good coffee. Mama needs a break!

  • ^ that reminds me of another. I am totally mad at H for wanting to take such a long vacation. I blame him for C's sleep issues because she was away from her routine for so long.

  • @mishy2006 - about not feeling that bad when LO cries. Does your LO cry over little things? My E does. She's done with breakfast and wants out of the high chair, she cries. I put her in her crib with a toy while I brush my teeth, she cries. V takes her binky, she cries. V, on the other hand, rarely cries, only when she hurt herself (like falling over while sitting or something) or she's overtired or you've put her in the crib with the light off and left the room. So their cries affect me a bit differently. I feel a little guilty about this, and I don't love one more than the other or anything, but I probably react a little faster when V cries because it's so unusual for her.

Also, is my siggy pic ok? Am on mobile and haven't been able to log on to check.

Yeah I'm going a little crazy. The weather has been so cold and we've had freezing rain so I haven't had the courage to drive with E along. I'm probably going to the office later today depending on the road conditions.

I would be the same. I'm nervous driving in icy/snowy conditions at the best of times but now that we carry little VIPs I'm even worse.

  • Mine is that I hardly ever take out the diaper trash. They just pile up in the little trash can so I start a new bag on the floor. They're kind of hidden, out of the way between the changing table and his dresser so they aren't taking up any room and I simply don't care enough to get them out. Lazy? Yes.

  • I just let DD scream in her crib for 30 minutes before she fell asleep. She wouldn't nap this morning, just like she wouldn't sleep last night. I have a fever and feel like crap. I just couldn't handle her clinginess anymore. DH has worked 5 days in a row which is rare since his shifts are 10-14 hours each. When he gets home at 4:30, he's on baby duty until noon tomorrow. I need a break...and sleep.

I do this more than I'd like to admit.
    I've done this twice today.
I've done this and also had to #2 once. Yup not my finest moment!

  • I'm going a work trip next week and I'm thrilled. I love S to death and I know I'll miss her, but I'm officially excited that I'll get not just one, but 4 nights of uninterrupted sleep which has never happened (not even one night) in the last 8+ months. Also, I'm secretly ecstatic that DH will have to, for the first time in 5+ months, wake up at night to take care of S. Although, that does make me worry that he's gonna sleep right through everything and tell me that S is doing awesome and has STTN every single night when I know she'll wake up at least once with a poopy diaper...

You let your kid scream for 30 mins because you are tired of her being clingy??

Yep, and because I have a fever, felt faint and couldn't hold her any longer. She was fed, dry, and overtired. She's just fine. Flame away. But when you have no help, you do what you need to do. Hell, my pedi said to let her CIO at night...essentially I just did that for a nap.

  • @strawny0807, you said you let her scream (not cry) for 30 minutes until she fell asleep. Most infant sleep experts (and therefore most pedis) recommend some sort of modified CIO approach, where the parent does SOME amount of soothing and calming. I get needing a five minute break if you're feeling touched out, but 30 minutes of screaming feels very cold to me. Also, you say she was fine but if you're sick, then I'd say there's a decent chance she doesn't feel too hot herself. I don't judge people for doing CIO in as gentle a way as they can, but what you described sounds horrible. Sorry you're sick - but you're still a mother.
This. As a sleep training mama, I'm really hoping when you said you let her scream for half an hour, you meant you did some type of interval training or something and that by screaming you meant some crying but more fussing...if you did actual full on CIO, I hope that at the very least you've tried other options first and this was not the very first attempt at sleep training or CIO because like @PumpkinAndThePeanut said, if you're not feeling good, it's very very possible neither is she even if she's not exhibiting any outward symptoms. I'm not gonna say not to do any sleep training, because obviously I've done it, but doing it out of stress/frustration/exhaustion usually doesn't end up working very well for you or your LO. I know how difficult it can be to take care of a baby when you're feeling like crap yourself, so I hope you feel better soon.

  • Ladies, that is why it's a confession! I'm not exactly proud of myself but it was either let her cry or completely breakdown. She's 8.5 months old and I've spoken to her pedi extensively about her sleep habits. He's said since she was 6 months to let her cry. If I go in and check on her she cries even harder for even longer. It was 30 minutes, not 3 hours. She just woke up from a 2.5 hour nap as happy as a clam. But thanks for making me feel even worse. And FTR, my doc look at her this morning after she looked at me just to see if I should take her to her doc. She has no fever, no infections, and no post nasal drip (which is what is causing my ears and throat to hurt). I'm well aware I'm still a mom, but she was in no harm. When she's 15 she can tell her friends what a bad mom I am but I'm sure it won't be for this.

I totally fudge Maddy's sleep when daycare asks me each morning... They always say, how was she, sleeping through the night yet? And because I feel like it's a judgment of my parenting, I say no, but getting better and usually only up once these days! This is a gross overstatement. We have only gotten up once a total of two times. ever.

Wait we have an option to stop parenting when we don't feel like feel good?

I do not understand screaming babies? Jack has never screamed. Ever. He has fussed and cried but never more than 2 minutes and turned into screaming. I guess I am pretty lucky to have a baby that can be soothed in minutes or less so it doesnt turn into 30 minutes of screaming.

Yup it is FFFC and I am totally judging.  Put on your big girl panties ladies, you are moms now.

  • I quit my creepy job! I have been uncomfortable there and it really wasn't working at all. However, I am a total people pleaser and have a really hard time self advocating. In the past, I would stay in a situation that would make me miserable just to make everyone else happy. I realized I need to be a better role model for ds, so I decided it was time to stand up. I was nervous, but it did it! Now on to better opportunities...

Was that the job where you had to walk around alone at the end of your shift?

i'm totally the opposite! When they ask me every morning how she's sleeping, I'm completely honest and tell them "she slept like shit...and woke herself up pooping again twice". I figure if they know how she's actually sleeping, they'll try harder at getting her to take a nap (not that it ever works, but all I can ask is that they try).

  • @Oohgurl - S only fusses/cries at night. Other than that, she screams...she doesn't cry if she's hungry, dirty or wants attention, she screams. If she's crying and it's not at night, I panic.

And it takes more than a couple of minutes to soothe or fix the problem?
