Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Holding breath...

HI! My (newly) 8m old has been holding his breath a lot lately. Dr said it's nothing to be concerned with and that we could make an appt with the ENT but it's not urgent. Anyone else's baby do this?

  • DS doesn't do this but my nephew did around the same age and it lasted for a few months. He specifically did it when my sister would leave the room and he was left with someone else, it was just a behavioral thing and he did grow out of it.

  • My little boy (7 months) does this too. He holds his breath when he's excited.
  • Same as PP. He gets excited and pumps his arms up and down, holds breath and shrugs shoulders. It's weird but I'm sure he'll grow out with of it as he gets more vocabulary.

  • I think for my lil man it's more often than that. It may have to do with his cold right now which is on its way out so I will keep an eye on it.
