Weight and losing weight.

I need motivation. I want to lose weight and tone up. I have never been good with diets, I have a major sweet tooth. I have been pre-pregnancy weight for a while now, but I would really like to get down more. I am currently around 155 and I want to be around 125-130. I have weighed that before, but I am having such a hard time getting back.

I was walking everyday, but we moved in September and I have no motivation to do anything. I hate where we are living. I am always tired and feel like crap. I hate how certain clothes for me and I just want to be happy with my body. Certain things fit a little better since giving birth, but I had a c-section and I have the loose skin. I know that is going to be my major challenge.

Advice, tips? I don't have the extra money to start a program or anything. Should I be walking and watching what I eat?

  • We are going to be doing a weekly check in, I think @courtandnate was going to do it on Fridays. I also do one on the parenting board a few times a week, where everyone shares what they have been doing, progress, challenges, etc. Some of us use myfitnesspal.com to track calories. It is free, and very user friendly. Do you have any physical restrictions for exercise? If not, I would really bump up the intensity from walking, and add some type of weight/strength training. There are lots of free videos out there. Fitness blender is a site with a ton of free full length workout videos. I really find that the more I workout the more energy I have.

  • I'm having trouble myself, I just don't know where to find the time. Working full time, when I get home I am just exhausted and pretty much don't stop running until he goes to bed. And when he goes to bed, I have even less energy and don't feel like working out. I could totally use some tips and motivation!

  • MyFitnessPal is a good app for tracking calories.

Are you a goal setter?  You could set a goal for yourself (say, walk for 30 minutes four days per week) and attach a reward to that goal each week that you hit the goal.  (A non-food reward, like an hour of time by yourself, a new piece of clothing, etc.)

You could get a cheap pedometer and do a steps goal every day, too.  Give yourself a reward for every week that you meet your steps goal.

A good resource for healthy meals is Cooking Light magazine.
