December 2013 Moms

Share your mommy bloopers!

So today was the first day I took LO out by myself. We went to the pediatrician for a 3 week check up. We actually got there on time, and I was kinda feeling like super mom, until I went to grab the car seat to bring LO into the doc office, and realized I didn't know how to detach the car seat (DH had done it up until this point.) Frantically, I called DH and texted him like a million times with no response. After 15 minutes of trying different things and trying to call DH, I was on the verge of tears. After twenty minutes, I remembered I could take LO out of the car seat to bring him into the doc (especially since we were now twenty minutes late.) I rushed in carrying my three week old like a frantic, teary-eyed psycho. I finally got into the room where LO would have his check up, looked down, and noticed my pants were inside out.

Mommyhood is glamorous .

What mommy-bloopers have you made these first few weeks?

  • Yes - the pants being inside out was icing on the cake. I'm sure I'll be laughing about it in a week. For now, I'll just let other people find enjoyment in my misery. Ha.

And oh gosh- I haven't smacked LO into a doorway yet, but I'm sure it's bound to happen sooner or later. The mental image of it makes me giggle, but if I ever do it, I'm sure I'll be balling my eyes out because of guilt.
  • I locked my kid in the car once. At Walmart. In May. In Florida. Fun time.
  • I had a similar problem with our stroller. Took me 30 minutes to get it open. And it was freezing out!
    Welcome Lily Anna!

I could not figure my stroller out this time, luckily I played with it in my house but my friend was over and I looked like an idiot. I told her I ordrered it months ago, put it away and forgot how it use it. I had to you tube it.
  • I'm glad all these baby items secure into place so well ... But geez ... The little buttons and levers that need to be pulled to open/unlock the items should be in bright colors. They're always so darn discreet and hidden.
  • Today I was nursing L in my car in the target parking lot. I was polite & covered.. Once he finished I got out of the front seat to put him in his car seat in the back.. In my tank top. NBD.. Until I realized I actually forgot to put my boob away.. I didn't notice until after a group of college guys walked by staring.. CLASSY.

LOL! Isn't it weird how you no longer feel temperature changes on your boobs. I literally am unaware of when my boob is in or out of my shirt now. I have lost all sense of decency!
Lol, this...all of it! Plus I always wear a nursing tank or a cami, so I am also bad about remembering to pull my shirt all the way down after I nurse. My stomach is covered, so I feel like I'm together and ready to go.

  • HAHA I had the same problem, and funny enough also at the DR office haha. At least my mom was there to share in my misery of being a moron... Seriously though there are so many damn buttons and levers on those things!!! I feel like I need an engineering degree for some of these things!

  • Omg you just made me lol. I had something similar with the carseat. I also took my mom to get cataract surgery today and when I was in a mad rush to get her there on time and still accomplish our morning routine. And I finally looked in the mirror at the hospital I realized i looked like a homeless person. I had spit up all over the front of my shirt and didn't even realize. Like dripping down my shirt.
  • Leaving a breastfeeding support group I had the car seat cover on and thought I pulled the handle to the carrier up all the way but I guess it didnt click. I walked across a crowded room with LO positioned completely up right swinging. Thank goodness she was buckled in or she would have slipped out! How embarrassing. ..
  • LOL. Love these stories! They are so relatable these days..
  • While wearing my nursing bra's for the first couple weeks, after LO was done eating I would clip the bra back up but I would forget to pull up my shirt so I walked around my house multiple times with my shirt pulled down on one side... At least my bra was clipped!

  • The last few days LO has had much thicker poops due to formula feeding at night. Today he poops so I go to change him and as I am moving away the dirty diaper he makes this grunting face and a small fountain of poop covers part of the changing table, the entire reusable diaper cover and the waterproof pad under LO. I just started laughing. Kids are messy!
  • We have had two poop fountains. Thankfully both on dh's watch. One somehow got on the wall in the nursery and the other on a carpet at my parents' house.
My mom fail was at our first dr appt. baby was only 3 days old and the office was running late. Baby ended up being super hungry and we didn't have a pacifier. Womp womp. The screams were awful!!

  • LO was in her swing while I was pumping. After I was done I walked down the hall to get nursing pads. I could hear my 2 1/2 year old talking to the baby but it wasn't registering what she was saying until I turned around. Here is my 2 1/2 year old carrying her sister down the hall way! Grace was talking to her saying "wanna go see momma, I got cha!" I had a heart attack but remained calm on the outside so Grace wouldn't freak out and drop her!
  • A week ago (6 days postpartum) I had the baby and was introducing him to the dog, when I felt the poop explosion leak out the back of the diaper. I leapt off the couch to run and change him, when I started to pee myself. Didn't quite have control down there yet. Yelled to my husband to take the baby so I could run to the bathroom, and the baby proceeded to also pee all over himself during the changing. My husband basically peed from laughter.
  • My blooper happened just a few minutes ago. DD has been fussy the last couple of days and I'm trying to calm her down by swaddling her in one of her swaddle me things. While trying to get her arms in there tightly I have to be like ninja fast cause she likes her hands by her face ... Well I forgot I had her pacifier clipped on the last flap of the swaddle me and full on had it swing and bounce off her forehead. Crying resulted. It was such a sad cry took like "mom you hurt me! Why did you do that!?"

  • Well I've experienced the inside out shirt, I was feeling good out to a Sunday breakfast w. some giflfriends, feeling pretty put together until i realized my shirt was inside out... oh well!

Next, I've also had the pp random bleeding in the grocery store... I could feel it soaking my jeans but since I was in line paying for my groceries i had to grit my teeth & pull my sweatshirt down over my butt (yay buckeyes sweatshirt), throw the groceries in my car at super sonic speed & drive home...
