I'm a total worrier!! re: kick counts

I know I'm too early for kick counts but I do find it weird that my DD is quiet for many hours at a time. It freaked me out so bad that I layed awake from 3:30am-5 and now I'm a zombie at work. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's already worrying about kicks!

  • I'm one week behind you and I don't even feel LO on a daily basis yet. It's totally normal at this stage.

  • If I worried about this already, I'd never sleep because I can count on one hand the number of times I have felt this baby move (I am due the same day as you).  If you know you're too early for kick-counts, then don't worry about it ;)

  • Haha babies get tired too, even on the inside. It's normal to worry, but like you said it's still a little early.

I would get worried sometimes when I was pg with DS but it was like he knew, and I I thought about it hard enough or wiggle him a little he'd move. Now I've got a frickin Olympic soccer player in there...already!

  • You are too early to worry about kick counts.

Also, even when you are far enough, babies have quiet times each day. It's called sleep.

  • Yeah it's definitely too early to worry! There's still a lot of room in there, and one day the baby may be toward the back or something so you don't feel it as much, or at all. I have started to pick up on patterns of when I feel him more, so if I find myself going hours and not feeling anything, I just remind myself that "this isn't when I feel him usually anyway". That helps to ease my mind when I start to be crazygirl about it.

  • hadn't even occurred to me to worry about that. my little guy is very active, but only during certain parts of the day. other parts of the day i don't feel him at all. he's already pretty predictable, there are certain times of day he's active and it's like clockwork. (i'm going to tell myself this means he'll stick to a schedule on the outside too ;P)

i just assumed that when he was quiet it was because he was tired or sleeping or whatever is is they do in there when they aren't flailing around.

  • Am I the only one who reads the pregnancy week-by-week things? And I only read them to try and get DH more involved. Your LO sleeps 12+ hours every 24. They have no sense of time, or daylight, and they don't necessarily care what is happening in the outside world, or whether you are sleep or think its time for them to be awake.

Stop.worrying.about.every.little.thing. its not good for either of you.

  • I totally get it, I legit freaked out the other day when I hadn't felt baby move at it's normal times. I drank some juice, did some jumping jacks, and that did the trick.

Too early by a lot. The reason they don't have you pay attention to movement this early is that it is normally inconsistent. FWIW, my old midwives didn't have me do kick counts ever. They said just pay attention to how the baby moves and note any changes.
    ditto.

  • I was exactly like this with DD. I know it is a way of reassurance that the LO is okay but, it is too early. I learned that the hard way. After 28 weeks, it became much more consistent, and I felt bad for stressing myself and baby out. You can also get a doppler, it helped me out a lot, when I needed reassurance.

  • It's too early for those....I go hours without feeling this baby. It freaks me out sometimes but rationally, I know it's still very normal.

This is what I was going to refer to.  I read those every week.

  • If this was something I needed to worry about now I'd never sleep. I sometimes go more than 24hrs without feeling her but I know it's probably because I'm busy and distracted, but I still really only feel her continuously and most noticeably when I'm laying down or lounging on the couch, not if I'm up and moving around.

  • Like everyone else it's too early but definitely feeling you! Just this morning my guy was kicking up a storm then got super quite for a few hours and I was thinking hmm that's weird and then I sat down to eat lunch just now, one bite in and bam! He gives me a whopper of a kick and now he's back to quiet time :) we get so busy too I'm sure they are moving and we just can't feel it :)

  • They still have a lot of room to move and sleep most of the day.
  • My LO seems to be most active while I am sleeping.  First time I really felt her, she woke me up at 3 in the morning, and it felt like she was doing flips.  Since then, I've apparently learned to sleep through it.  LOL
