RNP + Blanket?

For those with LOs sleeping in the RnP at night, what do you use to keep them warm?

I had been tucking a thin muslin Aden and Anais blanket tightly around and under my LO bc she hates being swaddled but I wanted to keep her arms tucked in so she didn't wake herself up. Yet I'm now feeling worried about having a blanket in there with her.

Any thoughts?

  • Swaddle him and put a blanket on top. Or just a blanket with his arms on top. He's not a mover when he sleeps, so the blanket doesn't creep up.
  • I have been putting DD in an Aden + Anais sleep sack, then tucking a blanket around the lower half of her body for extra warmth (nowhere near her face).

  • I tuck a blanket mostly around her feet only if she isn't in a fleece sleeper.

  • Agreed with pp. mostly around the feet and away from his face.
  • I swaddle him and then lay another blanket on too of him.

  • Citrusxoxo I think I accidentally flagged you. This happens to me a lot, sorry! Mobile and I don't know how to unflag, doh!
  • For those that don't swaddle, do you have any problems with LO flailing arms around and waking him or herself up? I don't know what to do about that.

I don't swaddle usually because she wakes herself trying to break free. I do use a sleep sack regardless though. Sometimes just wrap it with her arms out or really lightly with her arms in so she doesn't fight it but still stays warm.

  • Sleep sack and no buckle. LO isn't going anywhere just yet. It took DS1 about 4-5 months to be strong enough that I thought his movements could make him fall out.

  • So for those of you who swaddle in the RNP how do you buckle LO in? Or screw the buckle and lay baby in there?

    I don't buckle either

  • No buckle here either, but no blankets at night unless the swaddle me counts. I put one on her during the day and just watch her. It does often wind up on or near her face.

  • LO is in a Halo Swaddler and then I tuck a folded receiving blanket around her bottom half. No buckle here either. She's pretty cozy in there and isn't strong enough to do much.

    I don't buckle but I'm a questionable mom
    Another questionable mom here...
Ha, same here. They can barely move at this point so it's fine without the buckle IMO.

  • We either swaddle DD or we put her in a cocoon. During the day if I don't put her in a cocoon or swaddle her I'll tuck a blanket over her from the belly down.

Never used the buckle ha. We lay a thick burp cloth under him in there and totally forgot the thing even had a buckle...not like he's going anywhere right now
