Tummy ache/bad gas

My daughter is 3 weeks old. The last few days she has wanted to eat non stop. When I lay her down she cries. She struggles to fall asleep. She pushes really hard to get gas out. We have tried tummy time, gas drops, moving her legs, warm bath etc. any ideas/help?

Re: Tummy ache/bad gas

  • We just visited the ped today at our one month appt. My little guy has had similar gas issues and we were told it spikes around 3-4 weeks and then gets better. For what it's worth tonight has been much better than the last week or so.

  • We had the same issue around 3 weeks, I think it was due to his growth spurt and eating so much, hence taking in more air. We learned that in order for the gas drops to be most effective they need to be given before the problem arises. My LO would tend to get gassy around 9pm, so we give him his drops at 5pm as a preventative measure. He's doing much better now....Hope your babe is feeling less gassy soon!
  • Mine has been the same way, I've noticed moving her around, standing her up and off her bottom helps but it still takes some time.
  • Mine is 3 weeks tomorrow and acts that way

  • Mine was the same way, he is 5 weeks.  Our Pedi told us it's because when they are born the connection between their bowls and anal sphincter (sp?) is not fully developed.  So when they have to poop it's hard for them to get it out even if it is soft like it's suppose to be.  My little man still struggles at times, but seems to be a lot better then he use to be.
