Sinus troubles

Okay with my son I never had these issues, but with this lil one I'm stuffed up anytime I'm not standing. Which makes sleep less than desirable until the wee hours then I'm super tired and hard to wake. I've tried an air purifier with some eucalyptus oil (the smell only came out for a lil not sure if its the process or the machine). I'm also a scentsy consultant so I've tried warming our just breathe which is PACKED with eucalyptus and normally it work, but it's not working :(. Also the light is killing me >.<. Hopefully in spring they will have more of the heating element models but the three out now I hate.

Re: Sinus troubles

  • I've had a terrible time with mucous production, along with the humidifier try Benadryl at night and if needed use a netipot once or twice a day...this thing is my life saver!

  • get the BBMB eucalyptus. If your blood pressure is OK you should be cleared for sudafed, the real behind the counter meth kind ;-)

  • Green tea capsules!!! I swear by these from GNC (wherever you find them, make sure you get capsules, not tablets). I used to get sinus infections almost every month, but I haven't had one since I started taking them a few years ago. They will take a few days to kick in, so it won't be an instant cure, but if I go more than a couple days without them I feel like crap. Good luck and hope you feel better!

  • Sorry to say, it just may be a part of your pregnancy.  It's called rhinitis

  • I started having that really bad this past week so I broke out my trusty neti pot and have used it the past few nights before bed.  It has made a huge difference.

I started with this issue at week 6  and was told it was pregnancy related and that I should prepare for it to last the entire pregnancy...I tried EVERYTHING...netipot, humidifer, elevating my head during sleep along with natural remedies and over the counter stuff but it wasn't until week 20 (yes, it lasted that long) that my doctor finally prescribed Fluticasone or flonase, with a recommended 1 spray in each nostril and it was what finally worked. I was able to breathe and sleep finally. I used it for a week as my doctor suggested and then stopped using it to see if the problem would continue without it, and I'm relieved to say I don't have any issues now.
I don't think I'll be taking it anymore unless it returns.

Good luck! I hope you find relief soon!

  • Well poo!! I'll defiantly try and ask the ob/midwife what I should do at my next appointment. I defiantly know I also need my sleep now while I can, this way my son wont have a crabby mommy for too long haha!
