Still not walking

Anyone else's child still not walking?  Early Intervention came and checked on her a couple of months ago and said she is okay.  I am more just wondering.  DS was walking by his first birthday.  DD is pretty much refusing to walk still.  Even when we want to practice with her, she just pulls her legs into a frog position and refuses.  Lazy!

Re: Still not walking

  • Alice does walk, but wasn't yet at her 12m check up. Pedi told me she doesn't even blink before 15m and isn't concerned until 18m. But if you are concerned, call your pedi!

  • DS is not walking yet - he turn 14m this week.  But there has been a gradual progression over the past few months.  He LOVEs to walk - I let him push an umbrella stroller in a mall and he can "walk" like that for 20+ minutes.  On Jan 1st he started standing on his own and on Jan 2nd he started standing up unassisted from crawl/sit.  Now he will "walk" with me if I hold on to his hand, and he has tried taking 2-3 steps on his own.  So I think he is getting really close now.

  • Fun fact, Lucy's cousin, who is 7 weeks younger than her, started walking yesterday. Lucy doesn't even have the decency to be embarrassed! She gives exactly zero shits. Lazy stinker! :p
I always say "gives exactly zero shits" and no one gets it!  Hahaha awesome.
Yeah, I am not really concerned at all.  She's doing fine with what she does do and is making progress.  I used to be an infant/toddler teacher, and a special needs infant/toddler teacher to children of the autistic spectrum.  From that, I've learned a lot about where you should/shouldn't be too concerned with this sort of thing.  I was more just wondering how many other lazy little chubs we have out there!

We have a non-walker. We are doing pt and start more services Thursday (in daycare pt in addition to weekly pt at ChildServe). Dd doesn't crawl or bear weight... But she did army crawl a few inches last night for the first time!! :) very excited for progress!
This is how Eloise was!  She didn't crawl until 11.5 months.  And she didn't bare weight at all until like....12.5 months.  It all happened so fast.  Maybe it will be the same for your LO once it starts.  I think, in our case, our LO is very cautious and takes her time getting there.  But once she does, she's so great at it.  Our son crawled so slowly at first, but did it at like 10 months.  But Eloise started crawling and was zooming around right away.  I bet it will be the same for your LO once it all starts up! :]
