Please tell my PGAL brain to STFU

Last night I dreamt that I started bleeding heavily and passing small clots. I was on vacation but my DH wasn't there and I was with a friend (I didn't recognise them though).
We were in Seattle (we went there as part of our honeymoon) and the hospital was really old. All the equipment was from the 50s and the dr was taking me all over trying to find a room where we could check on the baby.
The first room we came to, someone had just died on the table so we couldn't go in. Then we found another room, but as I got on the table a family came in and kicked us out. I never got to check on my baby.
I woke up feeling really worried , especially as i couldn't feel baby move. I've since felt her move, but the dream really scared me. I've not bled once in this pregnancy, but it reminded me of the bleeding I had when I started to miscarry my BO at 13wks back in may.
Anyone else PGAL had a horrible dream like this?

Edit: I'm 23+2 for those on mobile.

Re: Please tell my PGAL brain to STFU

  • At 10 weeks, I had two extremely vivid dreams that I miscarried. I'm still pregnant at 25+ weeks. All you can do is take it day by day, I'm sorry that your dreams are messing with you right now.

  • That sound awful! But as others said just a dream. Try to do something fun to take your mind off it. *hugs*
  • Thanks for the common sense check ladies. I know it seems silly, but I always get that "what if" feeling when I have a vivid dream. I usually get a lot of comfort from dreams, as they're the only place I can talk to my mum. I rarely have nightmares, so they freak me out.

  • I had a really hideous dream very early on that freaked me out as well. I totally get how unsettling that can be, especially with a history of loss. Try to remember that it's just a dream, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Maybe you've been subconsciously worried and that's how it's manifesting itself? Like PPs said, one day at a time and try to take your mind off it.

  • Pregnancy gives some crazy dreams to start with and I think PGAL brain takes these crazy dreams and runs with them! I have had some doozies myself. Relax momma, I'm sure all is fine!

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • I had a dream Sunday night that I lost this baby....I started bleeding and passing huge clots just like you are describing. I was also on vacation (seriously, our dreams are similar) and DH wasn't with me, just my mom. And my mom kept saying I was overreacting. It was the most horrible, realistic dream and I was in a terrible mood and frame of mind all day yesterday b/c of it.

  • I have also had two very vivid M/C dreams this pregnancy.  I woke up convinced that it was real and ran to the bathroom both times.  I had some spotting early on with this pregnancy and had a c/p the month before we found out we were expecting this LO.  It's awful, but luckily, I haven't had another dream like that since I bought my home doppler.  I like to listen to the hb (and now hear/feel the kicks) before I go to bed at night, as it sets my mind at ease.  Hope you're feeling better today though!

  • I luckily haven't had any crazy dreams, but even my wide awake PGAL brain is a bitch.  It sucks - no advice, just sorry - I know vivid dreams are sometimes hard to shake.

  • Ahh Mama :(  Its been on my mind a lot lately too.  I'm so disconnected still from this pregnancy and I think it is because my PGAL brain won't let me get too attached yet.  But the dreams are terrible :(  Hopefully once we all get beyond a certain point our brains will calm down.

  • Unfortunately, I have dreams about all of my children dying.

I was really worried yesterday because I hadn't felt the baby move (even though I know at this point movement is inconsistent), but PGAL brain got to me and I immediately thought the worst, I ended up having a nightmare about it also.

    Try to relax!

  • It's just anxiety. It sucks, but you just have to realize that it's not an omen, it's just you being worried. I've had dreams where I bled or something happened to the baby, but then again, I've also had dreams where I saw a bunch of dachshunds with dreadlocks, or where I co-owned a nightclub with Cee-Lo. Your subconscious just likes to mess with you!

  • (((Hugs))) mama. Those dreams suck for anyone to have, but the MF they can play on a PGALer is just cruel. I'm sorry it got you so worked up. Just breathe.

  • I'm a PGALer too and have had a lot of miscarriage dreams this whole time. It's awful! I worry about them less as time has gone on but it is hard to feel connected to the pregnancy sometimes.

  • Thanks for all the kind words. I feel like a crazy lady! 8-}

I still have trouble connecting even though I feel (and see) her kick every day. I think because I had a BO, I'm subconsciously convinced that there's nothing in there. I've seen her on the screen 3 times now and part of my brain still won't believe it. She's definitely in there!

At least I know now that as each day passes, her chance of survival goes up by a few %. That's really reassuring. Stay in there a little longer though, princess! The world ain't quite ready for you yet!

Have you had your anatomy scan yet? I had mine yesterday and that was really re-assuring.

  • PGAL brain is the worst.  Sorry you had a bad dream, but try to keep the faith that it was just a dream and NOT going to happen in real life.  Hugs to you!
  • PGAL brain sucks.  I had dreams like this early on, probably since I had an early loss with my last pregnancy.

I try to remember my most recent appointment and the fact that everything looked great when I start to have feelings like this,  Hugs!!

  • ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))!  PGAL brain sucks and definitely needs to STFU but sadly that's easier said than done.  I hope LO gives you some big kicks soon for reassurance!  And I hope your next over-vivid pregnancy dreams will be more happy/entertaining ones.
