Re: FFTC

  • Mine is that I seem to be addicted to the Daily Mail. It is so stupid, it is smut, I don't know most of the celebrities on its pages, the stories are ugly, but I can't stop reading it. I even told DH I was going to stop (he chuckles at my guilty pleasure) but then last night I couldn't sleep, so I read it.

    It's rotting my brain!!

    we took cabs.

you can bring one with you and install it though I've had many cabs refuse. It was easier w the infant seat. Also it's not like you're dragging a car seat around w you all day.

My husband just told me his dog has cancer, and my first thought was that we can't afford a cancer treatment for a dog.

I'm sure that's flammable to many.

I've already been stressing like crazy about paying the normal bills we have, then we got a $500 electric bill this month, and I'm facing down having to quit my job to have this second baby...so yea, our money problems seem to precede my concern for my husband's dog, which is probably terrible.  But since I know I can't say these things to my husband, I'm going to say them here.

Have you checked the laws? I don't think you're required to have a baby in a car seat in a cab since it's public transit.
yep, you are not required to have one.

  • My chid has been having full on meltdown temper tantrums because she wants to watch cartoons on my ipad. It was only supposed to be for travel and long car rides. She randomly gets it in her head that she needs it and searches my room for it and if I won't give it to her it is the end of the world. My confession after 10 min of screaming I give in.

@ziegeficker my 2 cents: If my dog had cancer I wouldn't prolong his suffering by putting him through chemo. I would let his life run its course and let him die peacefully (when it is time) before he suffered to much. Also, sorry you are going through this with the dog and the job situation. Edited.
We'll know more about the progression or stage of the cancer in a couple of days.  All we know now is that an immediate swab of the little bump on her neck came back positive for malignancy.  I have a feeling that if it's even remotely treatable (regardless of the severity of the cancer itself), that is the option DH will push for vehemently.

@scrumpfy, she is about 10 years old, which isn't terribly old for a dog her size (Boston Terrier), but not super young either.

I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see what the official prognosis is...I just Googled cancer treatments for dogs, and they obviously vary widely but range anywhere from $400 to $6,000.

I'm sorry. I have a BT too. It's heartbreaking but if the difference between say, electricity or that, would anyone fault you? no.
You'd be surprised. DH's entire family are crazy about their dogs -- they take their pets everywhere with them.  My SIL has 5 dogs, DH's father and step-mom also have 5 dogs, and both parties take them on road trips across the country and treat them like children.  I truly believe that if I made any issue about the financials here, I would be deemed a shitty human being.  It would be a fight.  A huge one.

One time I tried to put my foot down about the dog sleeping in the bed, and it was a fight.

  • I'm sort of resenting DH for wrecking my car. Now we only have 1 car since insurance still hasn't deposited our check for the totaled car. We don't plan to get another car before he deploys in February because it'll just sit there for 9 months and it makes sense to save the money we would be paying for insurance on another car. But now on T/Th we're stuck at home all day while H takes the car to work. MWF I have to drive H into work and take DS1 to school and then go pick him up and he always stays so late that it'll be really difficult getting dinners together. It's just going to be a really crappy 6 weeks before he leaves with all the extra driving.

I'm glad he's ok, and yes, it was an accident, but I know it happened because of how scatterbrained he is. He was thinking about too many things at once and already drives aggressively. Bad combination.

DS loves Yo Gabba Gabba - I'm okay with it.  He dances his funny dance and smiles like it's the best thing in the world.  YGG amuses me too, who can resist singing to There's a Party in my Tummy and Get the Sillies out :)

It's baby crack lol. We don't have cable but we used to when DS1 was this age. Luckily DS1 stays away from it when he's browsing Netflix, too. I think it's more funny that you put on a show you can't stand, but no judgment! Any show that is on my do not play list immediately goes off in this house. I.e. Calliou. I'd rather stab my eyeballs out than listen to it in the slightest. I have a family friend who constantly whines about her kid watching Calliou and other stupid shows on FB, but good Lord, the kid is 3. I just want to yell at her to turn it off if she doesn't like it so much.

  • I love Sid the Science Kid! I play it during snack time for my first graders. It is actually pretty informational. DD1 one is getting more into it now. DD2 is obssessed with
Sesame Street like stop in her tracks and stare when it comes on.

FFTC I have been snowed in for too long and this momma needs to get out of the house so bad that I am offering to go grocery shopping tonight around 8pm when DH gets home. It will be freaking freezing and I have been told the roads are not great. DH offered to do it but I begged him to let me go!

  • my h went on a rant about how much he hates Sid the Science kid the other day, lol.
I am not a fan either.

Man, all I put on is Sesame Street or Baby Signing Time.

I personally love Yo Gabba Gabba but I have not shown it to E. He only has about a 5 min attention span anyway.

  • As long as I am not sitting there watching it, I don't mind her watching it. If she's in a mood where she needs me to sit with her, it gets turned to something else. Sophia, Doc McStuffins, Blue's Clues, Star Trek, Harry Potter. Something that is NOT Yo Gabba Gabba. LOL

  • My kid is a sprout addict. She screams "Chica!!!" whenever that magical little chicken pops up on the screen. If she's in another room and hears it's little voice, she stops and runs to the TV. I'm not crazy about the two new hosts of the Sunny Side up show though. I miss Kelly :(

oh yeah, and if you watch disney jr. there's a new skit show (it's only like 5 minutes between shows) on called Nina needs to go. Yes it's about a girl who needs to potty and her crazy nana helps her get to the potty as fast as possible.

i confess, we saw it last night and were laughing hysterically.
it can't be worse than choo-choo soul!
  • OMG the nina needs to go is just bizarre! I heard Tim Gunn's character on Sophia say "I can make it work!" I laughed way more than I should have.

@RVASC811 wooooow. That's nice of him to offer?

I liked Kelly, too, she somehow did not annoy me. And my kid also goes BSC for Chica. And the goodnight show is part of our bedtime routine, although I'm glad she isn't nuts about Star, cause I find Star a little creepy looking.
  • I just put Alice down for nap #2. Instead of picking up or laundry or dishes or other good wife things, I am drinking coffee and watching Doctor Who reruns.

Same here. Some days I have to put it on when I'm heading to work because I forgot to apply it at home!
I keep some in my purse. I have to apply it in the afternoon sometimes. I hope weaning gets my hormones under control!
i also keep some in my bag. i'm always paranoid that i smell bad! my DH thinks I'm nuts. i also put it on right before bed (whether or not i've just showered). can't sleep without it. just saw an article (on facebook of course) that this could cause breast cancer. behhhh!

Sometimes I use Certain Dri because it helps with the sweating, but it also irritates my armpits a ton. I guess I'm just destined to be sweaty.
Do you put it on after shaving? I used to use it and if I put it on after shaving it would burn like crazy and become irritated.
after shaving (usually in the morning) and at night too.

ETA didn't realize you were talking about certain dri and got confused, lol!! i had to expand the quote to realize what you meant!
