You will be fine. But the instructions say to use boiled, bottled, distilled, or filtered water. I just use bottled water since I rinse daily and I always have that on hand. I bet your tap water is just fine and clean to use, but not all tap water is suitable for this purpose.
If you had an amoebae eating your brain you would know by now. Just boil or microwave your Netti water if it freaks you out. Most water supplies are safe to use straight from tap ( I have for years) but at least you know your options. My netti, Claritin and Vicks vapor rub are my best friends right now.

I've always used tap water. Never had an issue! I'm far too lazy to get distilled water and heat it up when I can just let the tap run for a minute to warm it up. You'll be fine

I know someone who got an amoeba in brain from tap water. It took a long time to figure out how she got it. Please don't use tap water going forward! Chances are rare, but not worth risk.

Did you "know" this person from the one news story last year of the person who had this happen?
I use distilled water. I was told by the pharmacist not to use tap water as it can sting/ burn your nose and just make it uncomfortable. But I don't believe it has to do with health reasons. If you didn't have a problem with it then I'm sure you're fine. I live in a city that has the cleanest tap water in the world but I'd still used distilled or purified. But that's just me.
As PPs said, you are very likely perfectly fine. But in the future, it's a good idea to boil tap before using it ... but the odds of contracting anything from your tap is virtually nil.

No. I actually know this person, hence the use of the word "know," lol. It is a good family friend, and it was not in the news.
I started using distilled water as recommended, and I have found if you get the gallon containers at the store, they are inexpensive and easy to use. As previous poster said, don't use tap water. And I find the distilled water is less irritating to my sinuses.
You can use filtered water with the neti pot too. MOST of the concern for tap water is in southern states where it doesn't get cold enough to kill of the ameoba. And if I remember correctly, most of the concern is also with well water. It doesn't hurt to filter or distill just in case.
