Does your Doctor seem concerned? If everything else seemed OK, I honestly wouldn't think much about it at this point. The growth ultrasounds can be pretty inaccurate. I was measuring 34-35 weeks and was told I was going to have a "maybe 6 pound baby" at my 40 week appointment. 2 days later I had an almost 9lb baby. I have a friend who started dilating almost a month early and her Doctor said it was totally fine because her baby was measuring so big anyways. She ended up being induced a week late (go figure) and her baby was only 6.5lbs.
I have a growth check on Thursday afternoon because my baby has SUA (a single artery in the umbilical cord instead of two.) It's fairly common (1% of babies I believe). I wasn't measuring super small at my level II ultrasound (baby was in the 34th percentile) but they just want to keep an eye on it. Did you have an AS/did they notice anything in your AS or Level II? That could be a reason why. But PP is right in that ultrasound isn't an extremely accurate way to determine size. Baby could definitely be bigger than he/she appears! If I were you I would just make sure that you're eating enough, especially protein. Beyond that, it's kind of out of your control. Are you going to have more ultrasounds to keep an eye on it and track growth?

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!
I also have SUA and they are monitoring LOs weight. I get your concern since that is the major issue with SUA.
Side note: hordol, we have identical stats here! 26 weeks, SUA, boys! We should chat!!!
Is it normal to have growth monitoring? My doc hasn't mentioned anything about another ultrasound or the size of the baby. Is it just based on my measurements being line with the norm?
Did you get the different prenatal screenings looking for anything "wrong" with baby? If you did that and are seeing MFM and getting level 2 ultrasounds from him, I'd be confident things are Pretty ok with nothing serious going on.
Like PP mentioned, ultrasounds can be wrong up to 2 weeks anyway plus genetics plays a role in size. Are you guys small??
At my last a/s they wouldn't even talk specifics about size because of the inaccuracies. With DD, I had a 38 week ultrasound and said that that they could be off by 2 pounds when guessing the baby's weight.
I don't know exactly which percentile I was yesterday, but my baby is on the smaller side. 2 weeks ago she was 34%, then yesterday they did another growth scan and the MFM just showed me a chart with different measurements for different parts of her body (head, legs, arms, etc) and where she fell on the scale for each of those, they were all below they 50% mark but some were quite a bit below while others were kinda mid range below 50% (again I'm going off a visual here).
They are tracking my baby's growth b/c I have a velemenous chord insertion which can cause growth problems. But the doctor yesterday kinda looked at me and said- well maybe your baby is going to be small b/c/ you're small (I'm 4ft 10in so yeah, I'm quite small). Even though DS was 8lbs when he was born. I dunno. They are monitoring it in me. I have another appointment with ultrasound in 2 weeks.
I have a bifurcated uterus and am monitored for growth. With my DD, I also had other complications that can restrict growth... So I am super familiar with growth scans! Are you seeing a perinatologist? Are the scans done with Level II ultrasound? While it is true that growth scans aren't the most accurate, if done with a Level II and if measurements are taken from several different places (the head, femur, spine, etc), you can get a pretty good idea of how big the baby is (again, this is all usually done by a high risk specialist).
With DD, my understanding was that if she dropped below 10% after 32 weeks, we would induce / CS. At that point, it was safer for her to be out in the NICU than inside restricted. Now, this was also taking into consideration the other various complications that were going in with the cord / placenta / membranes...that may very well not be the case for everyone.
I would ask your doctor about this. Are there any other concerns with the baby's health? What about cord / placenta structure and growth? Will there be further monitoring? At what point will they induce or plan a CS to get the baby out and get the nutrients it needs (or is that not a concern in your specific situation)?
I'm 39th percentile. So my baby is on the smaller size. My midwife is not concerned. DH was a very small baby at just 6lbs when he was born, so we're expecting a small baby. (or should I say hoping for!)
They noticed at my AS and have been following up ever since. Right now I'm going in very three weeks for a scan and doppler. So far she measured in 4th percentile both times. Dr said as long as she stays there and doesn't drop below line, then we will continue to monitor closely. Dr didn't put me on bed rest but did restrict excersice and anything extra. I'm eating I'm gaining it just doesn't seem to be going to her. Cord , placenta and all her parts are good. She is just very small. Husband and I are both on the shorter size but had a healthy 7lb baby almost 9 years ago with no issues at all. Dr says something is causing it they just don't know what. I'm going to try and get a plan out of dr this Friday. Not having a plan is driving me crazy
Good luck! I hope everything is well with your LO and they get you a plan! If everything looks like it's going well in there, then hopefully she's just going to be a little baby.
